Chapter 46 A Perfect Meal, But…
Chapter 46 A Perfect Meal, But…
"It looks delicious…" Ken uttered as he looked at the man, and then at the lady.
She gave him a quick smile, as the face he made was so funny.
She knew he didn't get the name of the dish which was possible considering how uneasy it was to pronounce.
"Okay I'm beat." Ken proclaimed, as he placed the menu back on the table.
"…I will just have whatever the lady ordered." Ken said, with an expression of exhaustion.
He knew that if he was left there, he could take the whole day just to pick a single dish, since almost everything on the menu looked foreign to him.
Although there were still dishes that he knew. Even so, he decided that he wanted to take something which he had never had before.
And so he left the choice to the lady.
"Okay… In that case, let us have this." She ordered as she pointed at a particular dish.
"Ohh… The Kõfte?" The man exclaimed. "…what a wonderful choice Madam. It will be served in a few minutes."
As he was about to leave, he immediately turned back and asked… "Any wine?"
"Concha y Tor." The lady replied instantly. "…and you?" She asked Ken.
However, he had no time to think and so he uttered, "Same."
The waiter nodded as then easily departed from their presence.
..
"What did you choose…?" Ken asked, as he leaned forward to see the dish she pointed too.
The lady immediately showed him, and afterwards he sat down.
"Have you eaten that before…?" He asked.
"No I haven't… this would be my first." The lady replied.
"I see." Ken uttered. "…so how did you pick that one." He asked curiously.
"Well it was easy, I just followed the pattern of how they arranged them, and then used the letter of my name to pick…" She explained.
"Hmm… that's really something." Ken commented.
"Speaking of names, I haven't asked, what's your?" He asked immediately.
The lady stared at him with a slight smile of surprise on her face before saying. "…are you saying you can't remember my name?" she asked.
Ken was surprised at his point as he heard this. He was sure that she never told him her name. So why the question?
"Well you haven't told me yet…" He responded.
And the lady was like… "Are you serious?" With an astonished expression.
"I could have sworn I told you back when we talked at the store."
"Nope," Ken replied. "…after I showed you my number, you called my name and from then I left. So I didn't get yours."
The lady was left speechless, as she stared in awe. "I am very sorry…" She apologized.
"No problem…" Ken replied. "…So what is it" He questioned, as he moved forward with both hands clinged together as he placed them on the table.
He had an expression of curiosity and interest. He was so interested in knowing her name.
The lady chuckled as she saw him make the face, and so she said.
"It's… Kimberly."
Ken's face brightened, as he heard the name. 'Kimberly… huh?' He thought.
"That's a very pretty name…" He complimented her.
..
Kimberly's face turned red, as she heard those words come out from his mouth.
'No one has ever called my name pretty… before,' She thought.
She then stared at Ken with such intensity. As she thought about what they were going to do after this.
'I know this is not a date,' She began. ' …even so, he's here to have s^x with me. But why am I feeling this way.'
Kimberly placed her hand on her chest with style, so that Ken wouldn't notice what she was doing.
'Why?' She wondered in her thoughts. '…why do I feel such emotions toward him? Is this-'
Before she could complete her statement, the waiter man, arrived at their table once more and with him was their dish.
"Great our meal had arrived!" Ken exclaimed while joy.
"Here you go… Sir and Madam." The man said, while he brought out the plates from the tray and placed them at the front of Ken and Kimberly.
The plates were covered with another, as it made it look nice. Afterwards, the man placed two glass cups on the table and began to pour the wine into one of them.
"That's enough," Ken uttered, signing the man to stop pouring into her glass.
It didn't reach the brim, as it was only half way past the middle.
The man did as she said, and then poured the same for Ken. Although, before he could leave, Kimberly told him to leave the bottle.
And he did as she said and left immediately.
..
While they were about to eat. Ken stared at Kimberly while she took a serviette and placed it on her chest, so it would prevent any drop of food from staining her clothes.
And afterwards, they both opened the food by taking out the place which was used to cover the dish.
"Wow…! That's looking yummy…!" Ken exclaimed, as he stared deeply at the dish.
The plate was a work of art, the kind that tantalizes all the senses before the first bite.
The Köfte lay in perfect symmetry, their golden-brown exteriors glistening faintly under the soft light, as if kissed by fire.
Each patty was a marvel of craftsmanship—oval-shaped and slightly ridged, with hints of parsley and spices peeking through the caramelized crust.
Ken leaned his head towards the plate while he inhaled it.
The aroma was intoxicating, a blend of charred meat, smoky cumin, and fresh herbs.
"Hmm…"
The smell could almost be heard as the faint crackle of their seared edges, promising a crisp bite before giving way to the tender, juicy interior.
Beads of moisture clung to the meat, shimmering like dew on a sunlit morning, a testament to their succulence.
Surrounding the köfte was a vibrant spread, a pool of rich, velvety tomato sauce in a shade so red it rivaled ripe pomegranates, and a dollop of yogurt so creamy it looked like a cloud resting on the plate.
Beside them, a simple salad of diced tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions sparkled with droplets of olive oil, its fresh, citrusy aroma cutting through the meat's savory richness.
A wedge of flatbread, warm and soft, lay folded at the side, waiting to soak up every last bit of flavor. It wasn't just a meal—it was an invitation, a story on a plate waiting to be unraveled.
This is to know how it looks.
..
Ken couldn't take his eyes off the plate as he stared in such intense sight. He couldn't wait to soak it into his mouth.
He immediately took up the fork and knife fork from the table, and unwrapped them from the serviette which was used to cover them, and afterwards placed them on the plate.
Afterwards, he looked at Kimberly and saw that she had already begun eating, while he asked.
"How does it taste…?"
Kimberly raised her head and looked at him, then used a serviette to clean her mouth before responding.
Munch'
"That's left for you to know by tasting it first …"
Munch'
"… you can only know by trying it yourself."
Munch'
Ken immediately took a serviette and placed it on his lap before talking up the fork and knife.
He sliced one side of the meat with such elegance, took the separated one with the fork and then placed it into his mouth.
Just as he took the first bite, before he could make the sound of a yum yum. The cyan screen appeared at his front with the notification.
[System Notification]

..
Instantly, Ken spilled out the food which he had just taken in, as he saw the message.
'What?' He thought. '…10 minutes? How is that possible.' He wondered. '…I haven't even heard the sound of my alarm yet.'
"Is there a problem…?" Kimberly asked, as she witnessed what just happened.
Ken immediately dropped the fork and knife, while he reached for his phone in his pocket.
He brought it out, and the first thing that came out from his mouth was.…
"F*k!"
He noticed that the alarm which he set, that was supposed to ring when he had an hour left, had already rang, since the last 47 minutes.
He immediately stood up with haste, prompting Kimberly to ask again.
"What is something wrong…"
However, Ken didn't respond to this question, as he quickly held her hand.
"I don't have time," He uttered. "…let's go and do what we agreed to do."
"W-What…?" Kimberly stuttered, as she heard his words. "…right now? but we just started eating."
"I know but I don't have time!" Ken uttered with a low tone. "…let's go."
Kimberly hesitated, as she removed her hand from his grasp. While she began to have second thoughts.
The thing was that she only agreed to the job in the app because she thought it would just be a random person that she didn't know.
Although things didn't turn out the way she had planned. It was Ken who she was to do it with. And since she had already begun to see him in another way which was more than what she had expected, she refused to consider doing it with him.
It became a battle of mixed emotions.
"Come on… let's go!" Ken uttered, as he stared at the cyan screen displaying that he had only had five minutes remaining. And Ken was like,
"at this rate…"
