Chapter 44 Are You The One I'm Looking At?

[During The Call]

[[Hello there!]] The lady greeted, on the other side of the phone. Her voice sounded so soft and pure.

"Hello…" Ken replied.

[[Yes about your text earlier, I am ready to meet anytime just share the location]] The lady said.

"Uh… That is very great you hear." Ken replied. "…how about now.?" he asked.

[[Now…?]] The lady exclaimed in surprise.

"Yes… will that be a problem?" Ken asked.

While he asked this, he knew that there could be a chance that she would cancel it, since it was happening sooner than she would expect.

[[Well… actually it's not really a problem. However I am currently at work right now and wouldn't leave until the next fifty minutes.]] She replied.

Hearing this, Ken checked the time and did the calculations.

If he had fifty minutes to meet her then that would mean they would only have about two hours to be together, since the time of the sub-mission was already running out.

After that, he decided to take a good look at the lady's profile picture since he earlier thought that he recognized the voice.

However, nothing came to mind. Even though he zoomed into the picture really well, he couldn't be certain if he had seen the face before.

Although he was not wrong. He had seen her face before, but couldn't just pinpoint where.

[[Hello?]] The lady called out. [[Are you still there?]]

"Uhh…I-I'm still here!" Ken responded.

[[Alright, will that time be okay with you?]] She asked, in a very concerned manner.

Her voice didn't sound like someone who was into this sort of things. Rather, it was calm, soft and pleasing to the ear.

"Yes… It is very much okay for me!" Ken responded, as he stood up.

[[Then let's meet up near the convenience store in the middle of the city.]] She lady said.

'The convenience store?' Ken thought. '…what a weird place to meet someone.'

"Okay I will be there…" He replied.

[[Alright… see you in fifty minutes]] The lady concluded as she hung up.

Ken immediately stood up as the call ended. And at the same time, Vivian came outside of the kitchen with two mugs of coffee on her hands.

Ken was surprised to see her as though he forgot that she was here.

'Where has she been all this while?' He wondered.

As Vivian walked to him, she saw him preparing himself and asked. "Are you leaving already?"

"uh… yes" He responded.

"But that's too soon, can't you stay for a little longer, I just made coffee for both of us." Vivian said while her eyes followed him to the door.

Ken moved to the door swiftly as he put on his shoes. "Sorry I have to go" He said to her. "…I have somewhere very important to be."

"But can't you stay a little longer…?" Vivian proclaimed.

However, Ken looked at the cyan screen and saw that he had three full hours left.

"I'm sorry… I can't," He apologized, as he finished wearing his shoe. "… I will call you."

He then opened the door, said his goodbyes. It was so fast that it slammed even before Vivian could utter a word. He shut the door leaving her standing with both mugs on her hands.

'Where the heck could he be rushing too?' She thought.

35 minutes passed, and Ken got to the store without any traffic to slow him down.

He arrived at the store, and was like. "Oh… this is the same store that I went shopping with Nicole the other day."

"Although I don't know why that lady would want us to meet at this store, I mean there are other places where we could meet."

While he was there, he thought. Instead of standing outside of the store, why not just go inside, and so he did.,

Immediately he entered, he noticed that the place wasn't as full as it was the day he came to buy stuffs.

As he walked inside, he heard a voice.

"Welcome Sir… What can we do for you."

Ken immediately turned to the person who spoke to him, and so it was a lady.

"Oh…" The lady uttered with a surprised expression. "…ain't you the one who came in the other day and was asking why the place was so full?"

Hearing these, Ken became astonished as he approached her. "Yes that was me…" He replied.

He noticed that he remembered the lady. She was the same person who he spoke with that day.

"…I am surprised you remember me." He said as he leaned on the tied table that she stood behind.

"Of course I would. What make you think I wouldn't?" The lady asked.

And Ken replied. "I mean there are so many customers who go in and out of this place every day. So I didn't think it would be possible to remember every single one of them."

The lady chuckled and looked at him with a bright expression, before saying. "I don't. I can't say I am able to remember everyone that walks in and out of here everyday. But you, you really asked a lot when you were here. And it hadn't even been that long. It was just yesterday. So I would remember."

Ken was surprised that she could even tell the day that she met him. It was not something that just anyone would do.

"I guess you are right…" He responded.

"Well it's just one of my many talents" She bragged.

The lady was smiling and so was Ken. He noticed that they both had a connection, and he enjoyed her company even though it was just for a little while.

"We should go out sometimes," He said to her, as he words came out unintentional.

And so he had to improvise.

"…I would like to hear more about your other talents." At this moment he had a funny expression as he said it.

"Oh?" The lady uttered as she heard this. "That would be very nice, I mean I don't mind telling you more about them."

"Can't wait. " Ken replied. He then brought out his phone for the lady to scan his number, which she did and then she said…

"Ken… hmm, What a nice name." as it displayed on her phone.

Ken thanked her as a smile unfolded on his face.

"So what are you going to get today?" The lady asked.

"Oh I'm not," He replied. "…I'm not getting anything today. I am just waiting for someone around, so I decided to check in here first."

"Oh that makes sense." The lady replied.

"Well goodbye, until we meet again." He said as left the store.

Immediately he left the store, he checked the time and saw that he had eleven more minutes before the lady arrived.

"Oh sh^t!" He exclaimed, as he turned back to enter the store. "…I can't believe I didn't ask her for name."

Immediately he opened the door, he noticed that the lady was nowhere to be found.

"Where is she?" He uttered. "…she was just right here a moment ago."

Seeing that he lady was nowhere to be found, he left the store with an expression of disappointment.

"I can't believe I forgot to ask her for her name,"

"…well it can't be helped."

He walked a small distance away from the store, as he brought out his phone and opened the dating app.

He was about to dial the lady's number to know where she was since he it was already time.

However, the lady called him instead, and with hesitation he picked.

"Hello…" He greeted.

[[Hi… Have you Arrived?]] The lady asked.

"Yes I have…" He replied. "…Have you?" He asked

[[Yes I have, you will see me now]] The lady said.

"I am at the front of the store.." He disclosed his location.

[[I will be there in a sec…]]

Ken focused his eyes on the road to see when the lady would land. Either it be in a cab or her personal vehicle.

[[Okay… I am here]] the lady. But Ken was confused because he hasn't seen any vehicle approach the store.

At this point, he was standing right at the front of the store's door while he looked left and right to see if he would see any lady approaching him. However…

Slam'

"Ow…!" Ken exclaimed, as the door of the store was opened by someone who was coming outside from the inside.

Immediately, he turned and saw that it was the store lady which he had just finished talking inside.

"Oh I am very sorry." she apologized immediately.

"Oh don't mention it…" Ken said to her. "…it looks like you are in a rush" He proclaimed

The lady nodded and gave a thank you smile, as she walked at the opposite side of where Ken was.

While he moved away from the door, he placed his phone back to his ear and said.

"Are you still there?"

And the lady on the phone responded to him.

[[Yes I am. I am right at the front of the store. Where are you?]]

And Ken was like, "I am literally standing right at the front of the store… where are you?"

Immediately, he turned to his right, while the lady from the store turned to her left, as they both faced each other.

And simultaneously both Ken and the lady on the phone asked the same question.
