Chapter 1340: Childish and stupid

The sound of dogs barking and cows mooing echoed in the village. Yu Dong who was sleeping on her bed with Fang Chi, had her arms wrapped around Fang Chi and Bo Bo who was sleeping in the middle of the two of them when she heard the loud ruckus outside.

Her sharp brows scrunched up and she opened her eyes. A bleary look was etched on her eyes as she looked around the room in the dark, beside her Fang Chi also woke up. He hugged Bo Bo who had started to whine because of the noise and moved him up and down on his lap such that he would calm down.

He also made cooing noises as he hummed at his son.

"Whats the matter? Why are the puppies barking like this?" Fang Chi questioned as he patted Bo Bo on the front lightly. He was trying his best to make his son go back to sleep but with the noise echoing in the village, it was simply impossible.

Yu Dong was also a bit confused, she stood up from the bed and then draped a coat over her shoulders. It wasn’t that cold with the blazing heat but the mosquitoes in the village were indeed making it hard for them to survive.

Though the Yu family burned insect repellents all day long in the house, they still needed to cover themselves in long sleeves when stepping out of the house.

Fang Chi also followed after Yu Dong as he couldn’t stay inside and remained unaware of what was going on. The two of them stepped out of the room and hardly stepped inside the living room when ——

"Yuya! Yuya! Where are you!" Yu Ji’s panicked voice came from inside his room and he wasn’t the only one who was scared, Grandma Yu was also looking around the house with a pale expression.

Yu Dong realised that something was wrong immediately, she walked over to where Grandma Yu was and asked, "What the matter? Who are you searching for?" The new Yu family house was no longer the same. It was no bigger than a courtyard in the capital and the town.

If Grandma Yu were to continue opening and closing each door, she might end up looking till the next evening.

Grandma Yu turned to look at Yu Dong and started crying, "It’s Mai. I could not find him, I swear he slept with me and the two of us were in the same room but when I woke up, he was nowhere to be seen. I just don’t know where he went and with whom!"

When Grandma Yu thought about Yu Mai missing in the middle of the night, all sorts of thoughts came to her head. She couldn’t understand why their family couldn’t take a break. If something happened to Yu Mai, how would she see her daughter in the afterlife?

While Grandma Yu was panicking, Yu Ji was not in a good condition either, he had turned the entire courtyard where he lived upside down but he couldn’t find his daughter. In the end, he could only rush to the main building of the Yu family house.

"Did anyone see Yuya? I cannot find her," Yu Ji told the entire family causing the tension that was already running high because of Yu Mai going missing to rise even more.

"What did you say? Yuya is missing too?" Grandma Yu felt her head swoon. What happened in just one night, two of the Yu family children were gone.

She almost fainted but was caught by Ye Liu who helped her down on the chair. He then turned to look at Yu Ji and asked, "Is it true? Did you check everywhere uncle Ji?" He asked the mer who frowned and nodded.

Yu Ji then turned to look at his mother and asked, "What do you mean by too? Who else is missing?"

"It’s Mai," Shen Li was sitting on the chair and rubbing his swollen belly. He was just days away from giving birth and all this tension was making his cramps even worse. If not for the fact that his pregnancy was the healthiest of the other two, he would have given premature birth ages ago.

"Calm down, Brother Li," Chen Mi rubbed Shen Li’s back as he looked at Yu Ji whose expression was now filled with shock. "Mai was sleeping with Grandma Yu but she told us that she did not find her when she woke up. We thought that he went to the bathing room but he is not there either, now Yuya is missing as well."

Yu Ji felt like someone had pulled the rug from under his feet. What happened all of a sudden? Where did the kids go all of a sudden?

"Did someone kidnap——" Grandma Fang began but she was interrupted by Master Yuan who shook his head. He said to her, "The mammies have been trained by me and ah Dong, they can now deal with at least a third-rank shadow guard. It is impossible for someone to sneak inside the house and them not knowing anything."

"Then…"

"Then it means that the kids left the house on their own," Yu Dong gritted out feeling angry and helpless. She couldn’t understand why the two of them left the house, just how many times did she tell that it was dangerous to leave the house at night and early morning? And yet they still left the house and that too without telling anyone?

"Why would they do that!?" Yu Ji panicked. He couldn’t understand the reasoning behind the two kids leaving the house all of a sudden.

No one responded as they had no idea but then…

"The fight," Lang Ru who was standing behind her mother suddenly spoke up. "The two of them fought earlier this morning."

As much as the entire thing sounded stupid and childish, it was indeed the only thing that made sense!

Yu Dong: "…" They better be safe because I am going to kill them.
