GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2016 Cat And Mouse.

Chapter 2016 Cat And Mouse.

Chapter 2016  Cat And Mouse.

Thousands of thorns impaled him and turned him into an ant caught in amber. He couldn't move, and he couldn't disperse his Supreme law. It all happened so fast that the first sage was shocked. He had seen it happen, but he still couldn't believe the power of the attack. He was shocked because it shouldn't be happening at all. It felt as if an Usurper had attacked him. The power of the attack was so great that his strength and defenses were as flimsy as paper. Black veins spread out of the weapon into all of his existence. Then black smoke came out of the thorns that the Apocalypse weapon had become. The smoke coalesced into a shadowy figure attached to the weapon. The shadowy figure turned into a black, muscular, eyeless entity with two large horns on his head. The figure said, "Why are you running? Is my presence so foul? Am I so abhorrent?"

The first sage's eyes almost popped out of his head when he saw the figure. It is not that he didn't recognize the figure. He had seen something like this before, so he recognized who it was, even though he didn't think the person could become so powerful. Even then, he just couldn't believe what he saw. He shook his head and said, "You can't be Legion."

Legion-3 mocked by asking, "Where are your schemes now? Where is the cunning white snake that everyone dreads? Why am I not shaking in your presence?"

While he was saying this, he was pumping chaos energy into the first sage's existence and using Entropy to break apart his resistance so that Infection can take root.

He said to his captive, "Nice weapon you have here. Thank you for making it for me. I'm sure I can make it myself, but the resources just aren't cheap. There is also the time that you have saved me."

He laughed. Then he asked, "Doesn't this remind you of a certain situation? One person works for something while the other lies in wait to take advantage of them and get rid of them after getting what he wants."

The first sage was resisting with all his might, so he didn't have time to speak. Fortunately, Legion-3 was willing to do all the talking for the both of them. He said, "That's you and us silly. We go back and forth with this game of cat and mouse. But today, this game ends, and we will become one."

The first sage shook his head again. He finally spoke. He said, "It can't be. You can be Legion."

Meanwhile, the forest of black thorns that had burst forth from his apocalypse weapon had chased after the other three world gods. They had run at the first sign of trouble, but he was too strong for them to escape from. The thorns stabbed into them and began corroding their existence. Unfortunately, he could only get two of them. One of them had managed to escape by giving up her body and world. He sneered, "Secrets, huh? Let's see how it fares against Knowledge and Probability."

He was fighting three world gods, not four, because the keeper of secrets had escaped. He was subduing them while continuing the last step of draining the Cosmic Source. So he was killing four birds with one stone. The first sage was a white eye. But it was slowly darkening and becoming a black eye as Chaos energy took over his existence. Even then, he was still confused about the situation. It could be because his mind was scattering and his mental prowess was declining, but he kept asking, "How can this be?"

Legion-3 replied, "It is simple. You underestimated us."

"However, it is not your fault for underestimating us. You could have won if we hadn't received help. But we received a lot of help, which turned your estimation of us into an underestimation."

If they hadn't received the realm lord's help and hadn't found out the first sage's goal from them, it is uncertain who would have gotten the last laugh between them. But it is certain that if they hadn't received all that information, the best they would have been able to achieve is to have many worlds, six supreme laws, and Legion-7 would be the will of their realms. Their power would be far from what it is currently. In fact, their current power is unreasonable and unprecedented. Even The first sage didn't understand despite suffering from it for so long. And they are hoping to catch Monarch High Heaven and the god of power off with this kind of power too. They won't allow themselves to become consumable tools in the Monarch's scheme. The first sage was still reeling and trying to understand how a new world god would also be a world ender with enough power to put him in such a desperate situation. He said, "I don't get it. This doesn't make sense."

Legion-3 touched his eye and said with care, "Don't worry. It will be over soon. You will become a part of something great. You will become Legion."

Despite how calm they were talking to each other, they are fighting furiously. Their existences are smashing and colliding violently with each other. Legion is comprehending his Supreme law wantonly and without fear. It is a process that usually leads to a fight between world gods, but Legion welcomes this fight because it will only open up more avenues for him to beat up the first sage.

In fact, the process is more like digestion for Legion. They want to know and assimilate what they are eating. For the first sage, this experience is not pleasant at all. He is resisting with all he has. But chaos energy is pouring into his world without limit. Legion-3 was pouring all the Chaos energy he had acquired from the Cosmic Source these past hundred years. If the first sage couldn't take on the resistance of a Cosmic source when it was just instinctive, he definitely can't take it on now that the resistance has been weaponized with a Supreme law.
