Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 460 Zombie Challenge Event ( 3 )

Chapter 460 Zombie Challenge Event ( 3 )

The Chief Spitters wasted no time. As soon as the battle started, they immediately released simultaneous volleys of acid spits.

Whoooshh~

The projectiles screamed through the air… As if to tell that they were all coming from a powerful Zombie, these projectiles were even glowing with bright toxic green!

Seeing a huge coverage of the Acid Spit, the Metal Slime decided to change its form… It swiftly expanded and became a shiny metallic wall.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

The acid hit it with a loud hiss, splattering harmlessly across its surface.

'It works…' Shane thought as he confirmed how great his pet was.

Of course, Silver wasn't just a defensive pet. It could also attack, but Shane just wants it to focus on defense.

However, after stopping a volley of acid spits, Silver was able to absorb enough energy and retaliated by shooting out spikes of hardened metal, momentarily disrupting the Spitters' attack pattern.

Clang! Clank! Clang!

Seeing that his pet was already aiming for the kill, Shane darted to the side, using Predator's Surge to close the gap between himself and the nearest Chief Spitter.

With his Telekinesis, which was only a Rare grade, he was sure that his daggers or knives would just get stuck on these zombies' bodies.

Pulling them out would be extremely difficult unless he was able to kill them. This wasn't just a simple guess, but it was something he experienced against other mid-tier or high-tier Zombies because of his weak Telekinesis.

Anyway, with a swing of the Light Flameblade, he activated Inferno Burst.

[ Inferno Burst: With a swing of the blade, the wielder can unleash a torrent of fire, manifesting as powerful fireballs that scorch enemies in their path. The fireballs explode on impact, engulfing the target in searing flames. Cost: 200 Spirit Points. ]

The skill of this legendary weapon might be very expensive, but if Shane wanted to deal with them swiftly and avoid getting rained upon by acid spit, he had to increase his firepower.

Soon, a torrent of fire erupted from the blade, taking the form of three blazing fireballs that streaked toward the Spitters.

The fireballs struck the first Spitter dead-on, engulfing it in flames. The Zombie let out a screech as its body burned, but before Shane could celebrate, the flames triggered an explosion of acid from the creature's corpse.

Boom!

'Can they control their explosion?' Shane frowned as he triggered his Aura Sentinel to weaken the Acid Explosion.

He couldn't remember that these Chief Spitters could actually decide if they wanted to explode or not.

Shane's Safety Token was also triggered, and another barrier protected him from the corrosive spray.

However, with this explosion, the remaining four Spitters stumbled… Shane wanted to use this opportunity to strike, but the ground was filled with acid, so he was unable to act fast.

Each of Chief Spitter then fired acid projectiles in a coordinated assault.

Shane relied on the Metal Slime to intercept the majority of the attacks, but one spit grazed his shoulder. Thankfully, the acid burned only his barrier and wasn't his skin… Well, he still had Tier 5 clothing, so even without the barrier, it should be enough to block it.

Powered by Predator's Surge, which was still active, Shane triggered his Inferno Burst once again… He was able to hit three Chief Spitters with the fireballs it released, but as he initially thought, the power was weakened, and he failed to one-shot them…

'I really have to hit one of them with three of those Fire Balls.' Shane thought.

However, they were still injured by the burning power of the sword's ability.

"Silver… Let's try your offensive ability this time." Shane said, as he had already confirmed that his Metal Slime was durable enough to deal with the acid.

The Metal Slime then launched itself toward two of the Spitters, morphing into a spinning sphere of blades to disrupt their focus.

As the ability of the sword was on cooldown, Shane used Shadow Hunt to move behind one of the isolated Chief Spitters.

With his Quick Draw's effect, his swing severed its head!

'Next…'

Activating Inferno Burst again, Shane targeted the remaining grouped Spitters, the fireballs exploding on impact and spreading flames across the arena…

The last Chief Spitter, with its body severely burned, unleashed a desperate attack. It inhaled deeply, preparing a massive spit that glowed threateningly.

'Not so fast…'

Shane charged forward, his eyes locked on the Chief Spitter… Then, He activated Arcane Veil, the shimmering barrier reducing the impact of the noxious gas as he closed the distance.

Well, this gas had accumulated after inhaling them for some time. He had to do something about it even if he possessed strong resistance…

After feeling a bit better, Shane swiftly struck…

Your journey continues with empire

With a swing of the Light Flameblade that could not be seen because of its speed, Shane unleashed a Horizontal Slash!

Ssaakk~

Thud!

The Zombie was split in half, and Shane swiftly used his Shadow Hunt to escape the area…

Boom! Boom!

The explosions of the Chief Spitters sent a shockwave through the arena, scattering flesh and acid in all directions.

When the smoke cleared, the Chief Spitters were nothing more than charred remains.

Shane stood close to the arena wall, looking really satisfied with his method of fighting.

[ Level 20 cleared. Preparing Level 21. ]

Shane wiped the sweat from his brow, glancing down at the glowing Flameblade in his hand.

'Mhmm… No cracks whatsoever… Not bad.' Shane mused as he confirmed that his Legendary Weapon lives up to its name.

"Good work, Silver…" He muttered, retrieving the Metal Slime, which bounced happily as it reformed into its usual blob-like shape.

***

In the meantime, while Shane was challenging the next level, Asad, the self-proclaimed "Lord of the Undead," stepped into the 20th level of the Zombie Challenge.

His dark robes were already a bit damaged, but his staff, Grimhold, was still filled with power on it…

The battlefield ahead revealed his opponents: five Chief Spitter Zombies. They were similar Zombies that Shane faced in the 20th level.

Their sickly, glowing eyes focused on Asad as they released their roars, announcing their intent to kill him.

"Impressive," Asad muttered as he realized that his Ghouls and Skeleton Army would no longer be useful against them…

His lips curled into a smug smirk. "But not nearly enough."

Asad raised Grimhold and unsummoned the Ghouls and Skeletons that he currently have.

Then, with energy returning to him, he once again cast his magic.

With a wave of his hand, he slammed the staff into the ground.

"Arise, my Dark Knights! Let us paint this field with the rot of our enemies!"

Then, from black shadows that spread across the arena floor, twenty Dark Knights emerged.

Asad wasn't weakened doing this since he didn't really summon these Dark Knights. They were simply being hidden by his Grimoire.

With the incantation from the Grimoire, he was able to take them out. Unfortunately, this method was limited to only 50 Undead Summons being stored. After taking out the 20 Dark Knights, he only have 30 more Undead Creatures being hidden.

Anyway, each knight stood clad in pointed, black armor that exuded deathly energy.

Their black swords also faintly glowed with green essence, a sign of necrotic energy coursing through them.

Graahh~

The Chief Spitters wasted no time, spewing acidic projectiles toward Asad.

Without waiting for commands, the Dark Knights formed a protective phalanx in front Asa d…

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Their spectral shields absorbed the acid spits without much issue, but they couldn't stay like this at all.

Asad, on the other hand, stood at the rear, giving commands and casting his abilities.

"Bind their movements…" He muttered and released his Shadow Shackles.

Tendrils of darkness erupted from the ground, snaring two of the advancing Chief Spitters.

Seeing this, the knights surged forward… They raised their swords and struck the immobilized Spitter.

The remaining Spitters retaliated. Their acid spits were now accompanied by waves of toxic gas! However, the toxic gas and its corrosive mist weren't effective against Undead Summons at all.

Unfortunately, these Undead Summons could still be melted…

Two Dark Knights were engulfed in the corrosive acid and crumbled into dust after receiving too much damage.

However, Asad remained composed.

"Just keep advancing!" He said and ordered his Dark Knights to rearrange their formation…

The battle raged on, the knights engaging in melee while Asad strategically commanded or cast spells from the rear.

After a long battle against the Chief Spitter Zombies, Asad became the final victor…

Only sixteen of his original twenty Dark Knights remained. Four of them have been sacrificed to the acidic assault of the Zombies…

"An acceptable loss," he mused, stroking the smooth bone atop Grimhold.

As the system message confirmed his victory, Asad couldn't help but feel a surge of smug satisfaction.

"That Shane may be strong, but he can't summon such an army like mine. I must already be ahead of him."

With a self-assured smirk, Asad waited confidently toward the next level. He was certain that his dark arts would continue to place him as the top contender of the Zombie Challenge.
