Chapter 777: 776 will only make me hate you more

Cheng Jia unexpectedly asked to meet up with Wen Ran.

Wen Ran initially didn’t want to go, but Bai Xiaoxiao was excited so she reluctantly agreed to Cheng Jia’s request.

The meeting place was a tea house just one street away from Bai Xiaoxiao’s house. By the time Cheng Jia arrived, Wen Ran and Bai Xiaoxiao had already been there for quite a while.

Upon seeing Bai Xiaoxiao, Cheng Jia’s face changed slightly. But she quickly composed herself and greeted Wen Ran with a somewhat stiff expression, then took a seat on the sofa across from them.

“Cheng Jia, just get to the point. Wen Ran and I are very busy,” Bai Xiaoxiao said, scoffing coldly, visibly annoyed when Cheng Jia ignored her after casting a hateful glance.

Wen Ran scanned Cheng Jia’s heavily made-up face, lowered her eyes, picked up the cup of tea before her and took a sip, listening as Cheng Jia awkwardly said: “Wen Ran, I won’t hold last night against you, but you must tell me, when did you get in touch with Mo Xiuchen again?”

So, Cheng Jia had thought about it all morning and the more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt.

She didn’t believe Wen Ran’s claim that she had simply found someone to imitate Mo Xiuchen’s voice, nor did she believe Mo Xiuchen’s words denying any phone call. She was certain it had been his voice last night.

However, Cheng Jia couldn’t understand when Mo Xiuchen had reconnected with Wen Ran, or perhaps it was someone beside Wen Ran. But even then, why would Mo Xiuchen help them scare her?

Through her heartache, she became more determined than ever to become his woman before he regained his past memories – regardless of the method required.

“Jeez, Cheng Jia, you’re ridiculous. How dare you bargain with Wen Ran and interrogate her. You’re the most shameless woman I’ve ever met!”

Bai Xiaoxiao scoffed in ridicule. She felt that the slap she gave Cheng Jia that day and frightening her last night were both too light of punishments.

This shameless woman deserved much more suffering.

Wen Ran blinked and laughingly said, “Cheng Jia, how can you have no shame at all?”

Cheng Jia’s face turned pale but she managed to retain her composure. She gritted her teeth and forcefully suppressed the hatred in her heart, “Wen Ran, I know you hate me, but you’ve no right to. Mo Xiuchen turned out this way because of you. He’s already risked his life for you once. Why can’t you just let him go and move on?”

Wen Ran’s face changed and a trace of coldness surfaced at the corner of her lips. “So what if I’m the reason Mo Xiuchen lost his memories? He’s my husband and I’m his wife. When did the affairs between us become any of your business? Don’t tell me you love Mo Xiuchen, Cheng Jia. You’re not worthy of him.”

“Wen Ran, you and Mo Xiuchen are divorced, you’re no longer his wife. I am now his fiancée and we’ve set our wedding date. Soon, I will be Mrs. Xiuchen.”

Wen Ran suddenly laughed, making Cheng Jia feel uneasy.

She calmly replied, “That won’t happen, Cheng Jia. From the day you returned, you should give up hope of getting close to Mo Xiuchen.”

Cheng Jia’s face changed dramatically. She stared wide-eyed at Wen Ran, “Did you tell Mo Xiuchen?”

“No, I didn’t tell Mo Xiuchen. This much, you can be assured of,” Wen Ran said, a flash of sadness appearing in her eyes. She had sworn on the person she cared about the most that she wouldn’t disclose this to Mo Xiuchen and she meant it.

But just because she wouldn’t tell him, didn’t mean that Mo Xiuchen wouldn’t recall it himself.

Thinking of the words Mo Xiuchen said on the phone last night, Wen Ran felt a combination of pride, being touched and heartache. Her Mo Xiuchen would not let her down.

Even with his memories lost, Mo Xiuchen wouldn’t do anything to hurt her. He had once said, if he were to like someone, it would only be her.

With the love Mo Xiuchen had for her, how could he just forget and fall for another woman? They had weathered numerous storms and obstacles together and even if his memories were gone, she would still exist deep within his heart.

He just hadn’t remembered yet.

Following last night’s events, she wasn’t hoping for Mo Xiuchen to remember anymore.

Cheng Jia stared at Wen Ran, attempting to discern from her facial expression whether or not she was lying.

Bai Xiaoxiao snorted disdainfully, “Cheng Jia, if you want us to tell Mo Xiuchen the truth, I can call him right now,” she said, taking out her phone and pretending to dial a number.

Cheng Jia was startled and quickly replied, “Bai Xiaoxiao, you can’t call Mo Xiuchen.” She turned to look at Wen Ran, who appeared aloof and indifferent. Biting her lips, she reluctantly conceded, “Wen Ran, I will meet any conditions you set, as long as you don’t take Mo Xiuchen from me.”

“I take Mo Xiuchen from you?”

Wen Ran stared coldly at Cheng Jia. How shameless could this woman possibly be?

Cheng Jia wasn’t the least bit ashamed and continued, “Wen Ran, you took an oath not to be with Mo Xiuchen anymore. If you break that oath, all those you care about will meet an unfortunate fate… Ah…”

Before Cheng Jia could finish her sentence, Wen Ran suddenly stood up from her seat across from her and slapped her face. The burning pain on her face shocked Cheng Jia. She looked up to see Wen Ran’s eyes glaring sharply at her which send chills down her spine.

“Cheng Jia, bringing up the past will only make me hate you more,” Wen Ran said categorically, her eyes ice cold.

That vow had been a threat using Mo Xiuchen’s life.

“As long as you stop bothering Mo Xiuchen, I won’t tell,” Cheng Jia replied, still reeling from the slap, but making no moves to retaliate.

She had been slapped by Bai Xiaoxiao at the airport and didn’t even get a chance to fight back. Now they were two against one, and she knew she couldn’t stand a chance.

“Whether I bother Mo Xiuchen or not is not your call. Do you think Mo Xiuchen is still like he was, with his life in the hands of you and Mo Jingteng? I’ve been keeping a tab on this score ever since you left.”

Wen Ran had a locked memory of her childhood. For the past decade, she had never known hate and had lived happily without resentment against anyone.

However, after the car accident, she matured overnight and learned things she didn’t know before, including hate.

She hated Zhou Mingfu, Xiao Wenqing, Wu Tianyi, Fu Jingyi, but now, the people she hated the most were Cheng Jia and Mo Jingteng.

Previously, she still had a bit of worry that even if Mo Xiuchen started to like Cheng Jia, he would still have some feelings for her. But after listening to Mo Xiuchen’s words last night, she no longer had any concerns.

The only emotion Mo Xiuchen had for Cheng Jia was disgust.

“Wen Ran, I was forced to threaten you with Mo Xiuchen’s life. You think I wanted to? It’s all because of Mo Jingteng. He was the one who wanted you and Mo Xiuchen to divorce.”
