Chapter 1864 - An Unexpected Delight
Chapter 1864 - An Unexpected Delight
Within the bronze palace.
Weng!
The sixteen massive bronze pillars rumbled and boomed, and the countless markings of the Divine Dao carved on their surface lit up, producing a strange, inscrutable energy fluctuation.
A moment later, the entire palace rumbled.
The Laws of Annihilation covering the place surged forth and poured into the palace, gathering at its center.
When Su Yi saw this, he raised his hand and tapped the Dao Manifestation Divine Disc.
Boom!
At the center of the palace, the gathered Laws of Annihilation rumbled and boomed. It was as if someone had opened a tunnel through the void; the Laws rapidly formed a vortex-like entryway.
This was the gate to the divine prison. Divine Venerate Tian Huang had left it here during the Primeval Era, and it had stood ever since.
A moment later, a clamor of excited voices resounded from within the prison.
“Hahaha! See that? The Divine Venerate hasn’t forsaken us!”
“How many years has it been? Is the Divine Venerate finally going to make good on his promise and usher us into the God Domain?”
“Wonderful! Wonderful!”
…Despite himself, a jeer tugged at Su Yi’s lips. Countless years had passed, but the Divine Venerate’s dogs still thought he was going to usher them into the God Domain?
How ridiculous was that?
Su Yi carried the Dao Manifestation Divine Disc over to the entrance to the divine prison. With its help, his gaze penetrated the void, and he saw the “divine prison” that Divine Venerate Tian Huang had left behind.
Its interior was shrouded in darkness. Around a dozen people were confined inside, both men and women. All of them emanated the characteristic—and terrifying—energy fluctuations of the Great Profound Stage.
All of them seemed excited. These prisoners trapped in darkness had finally caught a glimpse of light!
“Don’t celebrate prematurely,” said Su Yi. His voice pierced the endless void to reach the dim prison interior.
The clamor of excited, joyous voices came to an abrupt halt. The prisoners froze in place as they realized that something was amiss.
“Sir, aren’t you an emissary sent here by Divine Venerate Tian Huang?” someone asked.
Su Yi said flatly, “It’s a long story. If you want to live, I can give you a chance.”
Silence descended over the prison. The captive Great Profound experts were now certain that something was amiss.
“What kind of opportunity are you referring to, sir?” someone asked.
“Simple,” said Su Yi. “In a bit, I’ll choose an opponent from your ranks. If they can defeat me, they can leave alive, never to return to the endless darkness of the divine prison again.”
The prisoners were instantly agitated. All of them spoke at once and tried to request further details.
But Su Yi didn’t explain, nor did he pay them any heed. He just said directly, “Who wants to fight me first?”
Silence fell over the area, but shortly after, a thin man seized the initiative. “I’ll go first!”
Someone immediately tried to dissuade him. “Old Devil Star Lake, this is almost certainly some sort of plot. Aren’t you worried?”
Others chimed in too.
“That’s right. He obviously isn’t one of Divine Venerate Tian Huang’s subordinates. That aside, we have no idea who he is, what his cultivation is, or what he’s after. Recklessly agreeing to duel him would be the height of foolishness!”
Su Yi furrowed his brow, mulled it over, then told them the truth. “I need whetstones to sharpen my sword, but since I’m currently still just an Immortal King, I can only fight you one-on-one.”
An Immortal King!?
The dozen or so Great Profound experts were unwittingly stunned. Is he trying to insult our intelligence? Otherwise, who’d tell such a blatantly absurd lie?
Or maybe he really is a young Immortal King, and he simply has no idea how terrifying we old-timers are!
They were increasingly bewildered, but the thin man they called Old Devil Star Lake said, “I don’t care what your cultivation base is. If you want to fight, let me out!”
This time, no one tried to dissuade him. Quite a few of them were perfectly happy to borrow his hands to test Su Yi’s abilities.
Su Yi wasted no more time. He simply opened the prison gate.
Whoosh!
Before Old Devil Star Lake could respond, two others rushed through the open door, quick as could be.
They obviously wanted to seize this opportunity to run away!
But all that greeted them was a terrifying onslaught of the Laws of Annihilation.
Two muffled thuds followed, as if divine whips were lashing the escaped prisoners. They roared in agony and fell back into the prison.
The others looked stricken, no exceptions.
“It’s true that now that I’ve opened the palace gates, Divine Venerate’s power of Annihilation will flow away. Soon, it’ll all dissipate completely.”
“But!” said Su Yi, “Until then, none of you can escape.”
He gestured to Old Devil Star Lake. “You. Come out.”
Whoosh!
Old Devil Star Lake shot out of the prison. The portal immediately closed behind him.
“After all this time, I can finally… I can finally see the sun again…” Old Devil Star Lake greedily sucked in the fresh air, his face full of excitement.
He was thin, with a full head of blood-red hair and pale skin. He looked young, but when his eyes opened and closed, they shone with the vicissitudes of countless years.
Whoosh!
Su Yi waved his sleeve through the air, and the Laws of Annihilation covering the palace interior receded.
Old Devil Star Lake gradually calmed down, but his gaze was focused on the exit, and his eyes shone with unconcealable longing.
Su Yi said calmly, “I urge you not to attempt to flee. If you do, the Laws of Annihilation will strike you down.”
Old Devil Star Lake shuddered, then looked at Su Yi.
His gaze gradually turned strange.
“You…. really are an Immortal King?” he said in disbelief, then mad delight. How could an Immortal King be so foolish as to use a Great Profound cultivator like me as a whetstone?
Haha! What a delight!
“As I said,” Su Yi said with a laugh. “But I urge you not to…”
An explosive shout interrupted him before he could finish his sentence. “Die!”
Boom!
Old Devil Star Lake blurred into a blood-red shadow and charged, quick as lightning. He was overcome with impatience, and he wanted to take Su Yi down immediately.
Su Yi made no attempt to dodge. He swung his palm through the air, and…
Bang!!!
The palace swayed, and destructive power swept outward.
Old Demon Star Lake and Su Yi both staggered back on impact.
Old Devil Star Lake’s eyes widened. This is supposed to be a fucking Immortal King!!?
Suddenly, an unexpected line of text arose on the Book of Karma’s pages. “Yet another fool! You deserved to be used for target practice!”
Before Old Devil Star Lake could wrap his head around it all, Su Yi smiled faintly and leaped into the fray.
Boom!
The power of the Grand Dao surged from his tall, upright flame like an erupting volcano. The power of his cultivation base was on full display.
His rising, terrifying force and momentum made Old Devil Star Lake gasp. He felt intense pressure bear down on him.
The same thought rose unbidden to his mind. This is supposed to be a fucking Immortal King!!?
“Die!” Su Yi roared, swung his palm like a sword, and attacked explosively.
Old Devil Star Lake dared not be negligent, and soon, the two of them were locked in fierce combat.
In the blink of an eye, they’d clashed over a hundred times. Su Yi’s attacks were like an avalanche or tidal wave, shooting straight ahead. When he raised his hand, all manner of Grand Daos fused into his attainments in the sword and burst with overflowing, unstoppable force.
Unparalleled throughout heaven and earth!
Old Devil Star Lake fought with everything he had, but he was relentlessly forced back.
It wasn’t that he lacked experience. On the contrary, he had a vast abundance of it. Rather, in the Primeval Era, he’d never once seen something so unbelievable.
An Immortal King!! How could someone like that be strong enough to bully a Great Profound Stage expert like him? Who’d dare believe such a thing?
Before long, Old Devil Star Lake couldn’t afford to give the matter any further thought. He was in danger! He struck with everything he had, no longer daring to underestimate his opponent in the slightest.
Before long, Old Devil Star Lake was covered in blood. Su Yi was covered in wounds too. The combat was fierce and brutal.
“Die!” Old Devil Star Lake roared in fury and fought with all his might.
He’d been imprisoned for countless years. Now, finally, he had a chance at freedom. How could he possibly give up lightly?
Shortly after...
Bang!!
An ear-splitting impact rang out. Old Devil Star Lake was slammed into the palace walls, blood spurting from his mouth and nose. Now, when he looked at Su Yi, his face was full of abject horror.
What kind of monster is this? He actually injured me! I even brought out my hidden cards, but he still blocked and neutralized them!
But Old Devil Star Lake could tell that Su Yi was terribly injured too, and his vital energy was on the verge of collapse. He was obviously an arrow at the end of its flight.
He took a deep breath and attacked once more.
Mere moments later, Old Devil Star Lake roared in fury. “Die!!”
He then unleashed a forbidden technique, damaging his own cultivation base in the process, and swung a massive battle-axe swathed in starlight.
This terrifying strike made the entire palace shake violently on impact.
Su Yi no longer dared hesitate. He leaped into the fray, drawing upon the Sword of the Nine Hells to unleash a Moment of Silence!
Splurt!!
Sword light flashed past like a beam of light.
Old Devil Star Lake staggered back, then fell from the sky. His massive battle axe slammed to the floor.
He looked up and stared at Su Yi in disbelief. “Don’t tell me all Immortal Kings of the present day are as strong as you?”
Su Yi couldn’t help but laugh.
His body was battered and smeared with blood. Blood flowed from the corners of his lips, and his wounds were severe.
But his smile was incomparably relaxed and delighted.
“You’re jumping to conclusions. There’s no other Immortal King like me in this world,” said Su Yi.
“Is that so…?” murmured Old Devil Star Lake.
Bang!
His body split into countless bloody chunks and splattered to the floor. All that remained was his soul.
Su Yi’s strike had destroyed his physical body completely. Even his soul only narrowly escaped!
“Can I… admit defeat?” Old Devil Star Lake said bitterly, his gaze pleading.
Su Yi thought for a moment. “Answer a few of my questions, and I can put you back into the prison. You’ll live a little longer that way. Of course, you’re welcome to hope that… I die fighting someone else. If I do, you’ll be able to leave alive.”
Old Devil Star Lake was briefly stunned, but then, his eyes lit up. “I agree!”
