Chapter 309 Ch-309: Talks(2)
" Hmm? What are you talking about? When did I say I failed to recruit Disciple Wang Ming? He joined my peak," Zhou Huxin said, snapping out of her thoughts. She looked at them with a happy expression, recalling the moment Wang Ming joined.

Puff!
Lei Ping spat out the tea from his mouth, staring at her in shock.
"Eh? Did I mishear? You said Disciple Wang Ming joined your peak?" Lei Ping asked, his tone filled with disbelief. She nodded in confirmation.
'How the hell did she make Disciple Wang join her? If it were me, I wouldn't have joined her,' Lei Ping thought incredulously.
"Peak Master, what did you offer to make him join your peak?" Jiang Hong asked curiously, knowing that with Wang Ming already in the Golden Core Realm, there wasn't much she could offer.
"Honestly? Nothing," Zhou Huxin replied. Even she felt incredulous as she began recounting how Wang Ming had decided to join her peak.
"These geniuses have their own quirks," Lei Ping said, shaking his head after hearing that Wang Ming's reason for joining was to turn the weakest peak into the strongest. Lei Ping wasn't surprised, having seen even stranger quirks from geniuses in his life.
"By the way, why were you looking so pissed if Disciple Wang Ming joined?" Jiang Hong asked curiously. He almost flinched when he saw her face turn red. He swore he also noticed her teeth sharpening, and he was even more dumbfounded when he saw a hint of tears in her eyes.
"Peak Master Zhou Huxin, are you crying?" Lei Ping asked, a weird look on his face. It was strange to see a grown woman on the verge of tears.
"I am not!" she said hurriedly.
"Then why are you this angry?" Jiang Hong asked slowly.
"It's because of my master," Zhou Huxin replied through gritted teeth.
"Oh," both men said in unison.
'Heavens, as expected of the real Sect Master. No one is safe from her antics—not even her own disciple,' both thought, shuddering a little as they recalled their own experiences of being driven to insanity by her.
They quietly listened to Zhou Huxin's rant as her expression shifted from sadness to anger, then to annoyance, all under their watchful gaze. Their eyebrows kept twitching as they continued to listen to her.
Yep, sounds just like the Sect Master, both thought simultaneously.
"Wait a minute, why didn't I think of this before? I was so dumb!" Zhou Huxin suddenly exclaimed. Her face flushed, and her eyes lit up with excitement. She quickly turned her head toward Jiang Hong.
Jiang Hong, feeling her intense stare, had a bad premonition in his heart.
"Sect Master, you can help me!" she said eagerly.
"What help, exactly?" Jiang Hong asked cautiously.
"You're the Sect Master, so can you please dismiss me and order my master to take back the position she abandoned?" Zhou Huxin said, her eyes sparkling as if she had just discovered some kind of treasure.
Jiang Hong's face darkened upon hearing this.
'I'm afraid he cannot help you,' Lei Ping said, his lips twitching as he noticed Jiang Hong's expression darken further.
"Peak Master Zhou Huxin, I'll discuss this with you later, but are you certain about your decision? Keep in mind, the resources allocated to you as a Peak Master will be significantly reduced if you step down," Jiang Hong said, hoping this would make her reconsider.
"I don't care! Ugh, I just want to get rid of the paperwork," Zhou Huxin groaned, replying immediately.
Lei Ping and Jiang Hong both nodded in understanding, groaning as well at the mention of the dreaded paperwork.
'Sigh, looks like I need to avoid you as well, 'Jiang Hong thought to himself, grimacing as he recalled how Feng Chang had shoved the position of acting Sect Master onto him.
Did he want to be Sect Master? Absolutely not. Sure, the perks of being Sect Master were significant, but the mountain of paperwork was even greater. That was the only reason Feng Chang had forced the position onto him in the first place, otherwise who in their right mind wouldn't want to wield such power, even though she actually retained her power.
"If you want, I can hire an assistant for you to share the paperwork. I know many talented disciples I can recommend," Jiang Hong said, trying to change her mind, but Zhou Huxin remained adamant.
When he glanced at Lei Ping, he noticed him glaring and quickly averted his eyes.
'It's because of you that I had to take the position of Supreme Elder, ' Lei Ping cursed inwardly. Under Jiang Hong's recommendation, Feng Chang had chosen Lei Ping as the Supreme Elder. At first, he was thrilled and even thanked Jiang Hong in his heart, but after a few months of being the Supreme Elder and enjoying the benefits, he began regretting it. Jiang Hong frequently shoved much of the paperwork onto him.
"No, just fire me from the post. By the way, where are the others?" Zhou Huxin immediately denied his suggestion, there was no way she would agree even if she had thosuands of assistants. After calming her nerves, she gestured toward the empty seats reserved for the other Peak Masters.
"They'll come. There are still a few hours left before the qualifying disciples arrive," Jiang Hong replied, visibly relieved that Zhou Huxin's attention was no longer on Feng Chang.
"Hehe, those arrogant folks. If they had actually watched the Outer Court matches, I wouldn't have been able to recruit Disciple Wang Ming or his partners. I'm sure they'll regret it when they watch the next round and realize I've already recruited him," Zhou Huxin said smugly, though both Jiang Hong and Lei Ping ignored her.
While Zhou Huxin, Jiang Hong, and Lei Ping were talking among themselves, the disciples who had qualified for the second round were informed to gather. The elder in charge was about to explain the details of the next round, and the entire area was bustling with disciples.
