Chapter 1869: Chapter 1658: Pool Party

?

The next morning, sunlight streamed through the fortress windows, casting golden hues over the stone walls. For once, there were no grueling training sessions or intense sparring

matches on the agenda. It was a day off-a rare opportunity for the group to relax and recharge.

As everyone gathered in the courtyard after breakfast, Gracier's eyes lit up with excitement. "Pool day!" she exclaimed, bouncing on her toes.

"About time we took a break," Sakuya said with a grin, tying her hair into a loose braid. "I've been looking forward to this."

Alex chuckled at the enthusiasm surrounding him. "All right, let's make the most of it." The fortress pool was an oasis nestled within the outer gardens, surrounded by lush greenery and vibrant flowers. Crystal-clear water shimmered under the sun, reflecting the azure sky above. Lounge chairs lined the edges, shaded by tall umbrellas, and a small refreshment station offered cool drinks and light snacks.

The girls arrived dressed in colorful swimsuits that matched their personalities-Gracier in fiery red, Saeko in elegant navy blue, Sakuya in playful teal, and Luna in a soft pastel pink. Artemia chose a sleek black one-piece that accentuated her regal demeanor, while Incursio and Alice opted for matching white swimsuits, adding to their striking resemblance.

Alex, dressed in simple swim trunks, carried a towel over his shoulder. He paused to take in the scene, smiling as he watched the group settle in.

Gracier was the first to dive into the water, her laughter echoing through the garden as she surfaced.

"Come on, big brother!" she called, splashing water in his direction.

Not one to back down, Alex stepped to the edge of the pool and leaped in, creating a wave that sent Gracier squealing with delight.

"Showoff," Sakuya teased, dipping her toes into the water before wading in.

Saeko followed with a graceful dive, her movements smooth and precise. "The water's

perfect," she said with a contented sigh.

Luna hesitated for a moment before Artemia gently nudged her forward. "Go ahead," Artemia said, her tone encouraging. "You'll enjoy it."

With a small smile, Luna stepped in, letting the cool water envelop her.

It wasn't long before the group's playful energy turned competitive. Sakuya challenged Alex to a race across the pool.

"You're on," Alex said, rolling his shoulders.

The others cheered as they lined up. With a splash, the two darted forward, cutting through the water with speed. Sakuya's wind-enhanced strokes gave her an edge, but Alex's strength evened the odds.

In the end, Alex narrowly won, but not without Sakuya's mock protest. "You cheated!" she accused, pointing a playful finger at him.

"I call it skill," Alex replied with a grin.

Not to be left out, Saeko and Incursio joined in for a round, their movements just as swift and competitive.

While the races continued, Luna and Artemia floated near the edge, enjoying the calm. "It's nice to take a break," Luna said softly, her golden hair spread out like a halo on the water's surface.

Artemia nodded. "Moments like this remind us why we fight. For peace and happiness."

Nearby, Gracier lounged on an inflatable raft, sipping on a chilled drink. "This is the life," she said with a contented sigh.

Alice, ever curious, practiced floating with Incursio's guidance. "You're doing fine," Incursio said, steadying her. "Just relax."

Soon, the peaceful atmosphere gave way to chaos as Gracier initiated an all-out water fight. "No one's safe!" she declared, sending a fireball of water toward Alex.

"Oh, it's on," Alex said, retaliating with a splash that drenched her raft.

The group erupted into laughter and screams as water flew in every direction. Incursio teamed up with Alice, their synchronized attacks making them a formidable duo. Meanwhile, Sakuya's strategic splashes and Luna's precision made for a surprisingly effective partnership. Despite their best efforts, Alex held his own, dodging and countering with expert aim.

"You'll have to try harder than that!" he taunted.

Gracier, ever determined, summoned a small whirlpool to trap him. "Gotcha!" she shouted triumphantly.

But Alex's quick thinking and control over the water element allowed him to escape, much to her dismay.

As the sun began to set, casting golden light over the garden, the group finally climbed out of the pool, exhausted but happy. They dried off and lounged on the chairs, sipping drinks and snacking on fruit.

"This was a good idea," Sakuya said, stretching out on her towel.

Gracier nodded, her cheeks glowing from laughter and exertion. "We should do this more

often."

Alex leaned back in his chair, watching the group with a satisfied smile. These moments of joy and connection were what made everything worthwhile.

"Agreed," he said, raising his glass. "Here's to more days like this."

The group clinked their glasses together, their bond stronger than ever as the stars began to twinkle overhead.

As the stars began to shimmer in the night sky, the group transitioned from their relaxing day at the pool to a warm and cozy dinner prepared by Artemia. Known for her meticulous attention to detail and refined tastes, she had volunteered to cook for everyone that evening. The group gathered in the fortress dining hall, its long oak table illuminated by soft magical lanterns that floated above, casting a gentle glow. The tantalizing aroma of Artemia's cooking filled the room, promising a meal to remember.

Artemia emerged from the kitchen, her usual composed demeanor touched by a hint of pride as she carried out the first dish. She wore an apron over her sleek black attire, her silver hair tied back in an elegant braid.

"Tonight's menu is simple but crafted with care," she announced, setting down a platter of appetizers.

The starters included delicate slices of smoked salmon drizzled with a citrus glaze, herb- stuffed mushrooms, and freshly baked garlic bread. Each dish was presented with artistic precision, the colors and arrangement making them almost too beautiful to eat.

Gracier leaned over, her eyes wide with anticipation. "This looks amazing! Big sister Artemia, you're incredible."

Artemia smiled faintly, a rare but genuine expression. "I hope it tastes as good as it looks."

As the group polished off the appetizers, Artemia returned with the main course: a roasted herb-crusted chicken surrounded by golden potatoes and vibrant seasonal vegetables. Alongside it was a rich, creamy pasta infused with truffle oil and topped with freshly grated

cheese.

Luna helped her carry the dishes to the table, her soft smile adding to the welcoming atmosphere. "Artemia outdid herself tonight," Luna said.

Incursio, ever straightforward, took a slice of chicken and tasted it. Her amber eyes widened slightly. "This... is perfect," she said, nodding in approval.

Alex, seated at the head of the table, took a bite and smiled. "You've got a talent for this,

Artemia. Maybe you should cook more often."

Artemia raised an eyebrow, her voice carrying a hint of amusement. "Careful, Alex. If you praise me too much, I might start expecting you to cook instead."

The group laughed, the lighthearted banter flowing as easily as the food and wine.

After everyone had their fill of the main course, Artemia presented dessert: a layered chocolate mousse topped with edible gold flakes and a side of mixed berries. The rich sweetness paired perfectly with the fresh tang of the fruit, leaving everyone thoroughly

satisfied.

Gracier savored her portion, leaning back in her chair. "This is the best day ever," she

declared.

Saeko nodded in agreement. "We should have Artemia cook every day off."

"Not a bad idea," Sakuya chimed in, raising her glass of wine in a toast. "To Artemia, our

culinary queen."

The others joined in the toast, their laughter echoing through the hall.

As the evening wound down, the group lingered at the table, sharing stories and reminiscing about their training and adventures. The atmosphere was warm and familial, a stark contrast

to the intensity of their usual routines.

Alex watched them all, his heart swelling with gratitude. These were the moments he cherished most-the times when they could simply enjoy each other's company, free from the

weight of responsibility.

Artemia, ever composed, sat quietly, sipping her tea as she observed the lively conversation around her. Her lips curved into a small smile, knowing that her efforts had brought everyone

happiness.

"Thank you, Artemia," Alex said sincerely, meeting her gaze.

She inclined her head gracefully. "It was my pleasure."

As the group eventually retired for the night, the warmth of the evening lingered, a reminder

of the bonds they had forged and the strength they drew from one another.
