Becoming Professor Moriarty’s Probability

Chapter 217: Deal

Chapter 217: Deal

A few hours after the grand finale of London’s largest treasure hunt,

“… Ugh”

Rachel Watson, the victor, lay sprawled on a cold floor. In a daze but oddly refreshed, she stood up and stretched with a yawn.

“The hell.”

Only to freeze in the next second, a dazed look in her eyes.

“Where am I…?”

Instead of the familiar ceiling of 221B Baker Street, she was looking at an opulent and lavish ceiling she had never seen before.

“What did I do last night…?”

Confused, she tried to recall the events of the previous day.

“I went to the racetrack since it was a holiday… Lost horribly at every game… In frustration, I ended up at a pub… And then… um…”

Her memory was fuzzy, perhaps due to drowning her sorrows in alcohol and exceeding the limit of her tolerance.

“Did something unusual? It feels like I watched something like a horse race…”

Muttering to herself with a troubled expression, she started to get up.

- Slosh…??

“… Huh?”

Suddenly, she felt a sense of fullness and warmth in her lower abdomen, causing her legs to give way, and she collapsed back to the floor.

“What did I eat yesterday…?”

“What you ate…”

“… Huh?”

Just then, she heard the indistinct sound of someone sobbing nearby.

“……..!”

Without thinking, Watson turned her head and her half-closed eyes widened in shock.

“Was me… You ate me…”

Isaac Adler, the man she had vowed to kill after that miserable day, was twitching on a dining table beside her, his eyes covered with his palms.

“Please… I was wrong… I was wrong, okay…”

He was completely naked, tied up with silver ropes while his breaths leaked out in hot gasps.

“Please stop… stop it…”

“……..”

“No, thinking about it, you didn’t listen even when I screamed myself hoarse… It’s pointless…”

Watson, looking at the prominent bite marks and scratches on his shoulders, finally realized the atrocity she had committed.

“… Then, please be a bit more gentle.”

“Ah…”

Not only that, she was wearing her white doctor’s coat, naked underneath like the man sobbing before her.

“Oh, or… please… I’m begging you…”

“………”

“Please, at least use a condom…”

It did not take long for her to realise why her abdomen felt so full, and why her body felt both weary and strangely invigorated.

“… Fuck. Bloddy fucking fuck!”

“I’m sorry. I’ll just shut up now…”

“……..”

.

“Excuse me.”

“Ye-Yes.”

Still half-naked Rachel Watson just sat in front of the dining table without speaking for a while. But, she suddenly shot Adler a cold look, making him sweat heavily, before opening her mouth. ???????

“Got a lighter?”

“What?”

“… Can you produce a fire?”

“Oh, yes.”

Adler was puzzled by her words for some time. Not for long though, as he soon produced some flames with magic before Watson. Still giving him a cold glare, Watson soon flicked a cigarette over the burning flames.

“Phew…”

“………”

“… I had quit smoking after the surgery, fuck.”

Taking a deep drag of the nicotine, Watsoon soon started cursing out loud.

“Even the drug addict of a roommate was not able to break my non-smoking record… yet a fucking London bastard just came and broke it…”

“Um… it isn’t like Miss Watson was violated here, it was me, so why are you the one being angry…”

“… Shut up, bastard.”

Easily crushing the timid jab Adler was throwing at her, she stretched her hand.

- Bubble, Fizz, Frrrr…

“……?”

Grabbing a bottle of whiskey from the table, she started pouring the glass full without hesitation.

“What are you doing?”

“… Hangover cure.”

“What?”

After a moment, she downed the whole thing in one gulp, recoiled, and then bowed her head.

“Khhaaa…”

“Curing alcohol overdose with alcohol…?”

“Just shut the fuck up…”

As she was about to raise her voice aggressively at Adler’s increasingly timid tone.

- Drip…

“Uh.”

Just then, the source of her abdominal bloating leaked ever so slightly, making her blush heavily and bow her head in shame.

“E-E-Excuse me.”

“…….?”

“There’s something you need to check…”

In such a situation, Adler, hesitating and watching Watson’s mood for some time, soon pushed something toward her.

“Ha.”

Watson, with a dark look in her eyes, checked the item before lifting her head with a look of incredulity in her eyes.

“What is this?”

“Um, it’s… a contract signed by your own hand… Miss Watson.”

“… I signed this ridiculous contract?”

Following her angry question, Adler only nodded dumbly in response.

“With Professor Moriarty, Holmes… and Inspector Lestrade?”

“Yes.”

“Among the four, including me… you will choose one to be your wife?”

“That’s right.”

“You really are out of your mind, aren’t you!?”

Glaring at him with smouldering intensity, Watson threw the contract in Adler’s face before yelling at the top of her lungs.

“Did you really think I would participate in this crap? You are seriously mistaken, I don’t…”

But then she trailed off, not finishing her statement.

“I don’t…”

She could not help but stammer as she looked at Adler, silently turning her gaze away, in the end.

“… Listen.”

“Yes?”

“Do you remember what you asked me when we first met?”

After a brief silence, Watson suddenly threw a question.

“Um…”

“… You really don’t remember, do you?”

As Adler failed to respond while gauging her reaction, her expression turned colder than the arctic wind.

“Forget it. I don’t know what I was expecting…”

Her face etched with disappointment, she rose from her seat.

“Let’s pretend today never happened, and take it to the grave. It’s better for both of us…”

“… Your eyes are lovely?”

“…….!”

However, just as she was about to leave the room, Adler’s uncertain remark made her stop in her tracks, her eyes widening in surprise.

“Do you… remember?”

“Uh… no, that’s not it…”

On the other hand, Adler was more startled by her reaction.

“I just suddenly thought your eyes looked quite lovely.”

As he muttered this with a dazed expression, Watson’s eyebrows twitched ever so slightly, still turned away from Adler.

“What was the reason for that?”

She paused in her tracks and asked again.

“You’re a piece of shit who charms women with your good looks, ruins them in a few days, and then discards them before doing a rinse and repeat…”

“T-That’s a bit harsh.”

“… Then why did you meet me in such a normal way? And without any significant physical contact for months?”

Finally, she posed the question she had been curious about all the time, but never got the courage to ask.

“And why did you leave my side overnight? I really don’t understand… Really, I don’t understand anything…”

“That’s…”

“… What was your purpose in approaching me?”

A thick silence enveloped the two.

“Do you want to know?”

“… Yes.”

“There’s one condition.”

In the silence, Adler spoke softly, his eyes shining in a scheming light as he made his proposal.

“I need to go abroad for a while. Will you come with me as my personal physician?”

“As your doctor…?”

“I have to… kulluk.”

Pausing before he could finish, he threw a coughing fit.

“I have to last three months, at least… you see.”

“…….!”

A moment later, he raised his head again, a trickle of blood running from his mouth.

“… If you help me this time, I’ll tell you the reason after three months. What do you say?”

But as if it were nothing, Adler wiped the blood with his sleeve and finished speaking with an almost imperceptible quiver in his voice. Like that, Watson observed him for a long, long while before speaking.

“Exactly where are we going? I’m a busy person. I can’t go too far.”

At her question, Adler checked the remaining quests he had left.

? Quests 1. Make Watson confess to you again.

2. Maximize the killing intent Charlotte Holmes and Professor Moriarty have for each other.

3. Maximize the danger level of the organization...

Quickly, he turned his head towards Watson before answering.

“It’s not too far. It’s in the USA.”

“The USA is incredibly far!”

“That’s alright. I’ll cover all the expenses.”

“Haaa…”

Feeling a throbbing headache coming her way at his cheeky words, Watson leaked out a pained sigh.

“So where is it?”

“Ah, there’s one more favour I need to ask you.”

Following her question, Adler whispered to her, his voice even softer than before.

“Please kidnap me.”

“… The hell?”

In his eyes, the terrifying scene beyond the windows was reflected.

“If I don’t use this opportunity, I just might get raped repeatedly over these three months…”

“……..”

“… Please save me.”

Meanwhile, outside Professor Moriarty’s house,

“Move!! You damn bitches!!!”

“I won’t allow it!!! Who decided you could determine Adler’s ownership amongst yourselves!!!”

“Monopolizing public goods is illegal!!! It’s no different from blocking the capital!!! It’s basic common sense!!!”

In the yard, more than half the women of London, including the runner-ups of the treasure hunt, were rioting with crazed eyes.

“… I really dislike crowds.”

“Yes, it seems so.”

“… Is London really going to be alright at this rate?”

Meanwhile, Professor Moriarty, Charlotte Holmes, and Gia Lestrade were facing the crowd head-on.

“Wait~”

Simultaneously, they turned their heads at a voice from behind.

“Excuse me, I need to get through.”

“”………?””

Their gazes landed on Rachel Watson, who was stepping out of the mansion carrying a slightly large briefcase.

“I’m totally unrelated to this case…? I just got involved because I was drunk, and personally, I really dislike Adler. I’m sure many here know about the magnitude of my distaste for that person, right?”

- Thud, thud…

“So, I’ll just quietly leave now. Goodbye to all…”

As she delivered her opinion to everyone with the utmost composure and naturally moved through the crowd,

“… Watson.”

Charlotte, with a dark smile that did not reach her eyes, suddenly grabbed Watson’s arm as she was passing by and asked her in a low voice.

“I’m quite curious, what’s in that bag…..?”

- Clunk, clunk…

In the ensuing silence around them, the sound of the briefcase clunking quietly began to echo.

“… You don’t need to know.”

“The audacity of this /genesisforsaken
