Chapter 1786 Commander Edson Suspicion (2)

Chapter 1786  Commander Edson Suspicion (2)

"Is your captain still alive?" Commander Edson asked the woman next to him. He did not remember her name, and maybe he should start to remember their names because they were quite capable, not less than his elite guards. Even though they had an ugly start where one of them almost died getting overwhelmed by the void creatures.

It had been a week since the horde started attacking, and he drilled them on how to fend against the horde when they were getting outnumbered. In fact, they were doing much better considering this was their first time fighting the void creature horde.

Ira pierced the deformed wolf that jumped at her. Her spear impaled the wolf in the air, and she tossed the body away as she immediately got ready for more. At the same time, she opened the party menu and saw Tang Shaoyang's name was still in the party, indicating her captain was still alive.

In that small window of time, she checked whether her captain was still alive or not. In fact, she did it perfectly until the next attack from the void creature. It did not distract her from the fight, and the reason was simple. Commander Edson kept asking her every one or two hours, asking whether her captain was alive or dead.

"He is still alive, but still no reply!"

At first, she was annoyed that Commander Edson kept asking her about her captain amidst the battle. But she had gotten used to it and no longer got bothered or distracted from the question. It had been a week, and she did not see a decrease in the attack intensity. It was as if she was fighting an unlimited horde.

Commander Edson nodded and shouted. "Get ready for a switch!" The command was meant for the vanguard that stayed on the wall, notifying them to be ready to replace Ira and the other seven with her. Despite the wave of the void creatures, they were not surrounded by them, and most of the void creatures chose to climb over the wall instead of piling on them.

The battle continued for another day, and the number of the void creatures started diminishing from the previous day. The Void Gate stopped sending the void creatures as well, a tell that the attack might be over soon.

"Preserve your mana and stamina, but never lower your guard! These creatures might be mindless, but the one who orchestrated the attack is not mindless. We don't know that they might prepare something big to catch us off guard!"

Commander Edson raised his voice as he noticed the administrators started to relax. He tried to remind them that the battle against the void creature was not as simple as it looked. They must be prepared for the worst, every time. The Void Gate might stop sending the void creatures, but no one knew that another batch would come out in ten to thirty minutes.

An hour later, they wiped out the void creatures. At least the void creatures in the post-zero area were wiped out. Edson looked up and asked the snow elves about the situation, they confirmed that there was no more horde coming at them.

"You can get some rest, but always be ready for another battle!" Edson told the administrators. There were no casualties, and most of them were on the same level as his elite guards, but a few still weaker than his elite guards. But four individuals performed above the captain, two snow elves, and two humans.

He found out later that the snow elves were a Chief Administrator and a Senior Administrator, Khaya and Nandra. The third one was also a woman, a Senior Administrator named Anne, and the fourth was surprising. He was a budding administrator, an admin helper named Castor. He was surprised that the man did so well for a newbie.

Then he started to notice the odd dark skin. It was dark and almost purple, something similar to the member of the void cult. He did not think much since the administrator passed him through. The man should not be related to the Void Cult. It was not until he realized that the man did not wear the mask during the fight.

The area might be neutralized from the void poison, but they were fighting the source of this void poison. Everyone still needed the mask for the fight, but Castor did not wear a mask. Of course, it was possible for Castor to do so if he had Void Elemental Power. It might be rare, but it was not something unheard of. However, he could not be suspicious that the man might be part of the Void Cult.

He tried to convince himself that the man was part of the administrator, but he remained unsettled with no confirmation. "Can you stay, Castor?"

Everyone looked toward Castor when his name was called out, especially Ira. She narrowed her eyes with a face asking what he did this time. Castor himself did not know whether he made a mistake or not.

Noticing the atmosphere, Commander Edson immediately cleared the confusion. "There's something I want to talk about with Castor. Don't worry, he doesn't make mistakes or anything. I am not going to punish him or anything, just a little conversation."

Castor met with Commander Edson, and deep inside, he was nervous even though Commander Edson stated that it was not about his mistake. In fact, that just made him even more nervous. Especially when he looked at Commander Edson's expression, solemn as if it was something serious.

"I don't have prejudice against people with dark skin or people with mixed blood, but I just want confirmation that you are not part of the Void Cult. Name your faction and where you come from, your world?" Edson went straight to the issue.

Castor furrowed his brow, processing Edson's words, and he understood why Commander Edson looked so serious. He then looked at his own skin, then he remembered the Void Cult's member he met in Sulan. They had similar skin after he turned into a calamity.

"I…" He was about to explain what happened to him, but then he furrowed his brow, realizing that he almost made a blunder. "I will explain it when our captain is with us, Commander Edson. I think he knows more about me than myself. But I dare to guarantee that I am not part of the Void Cult. I am a descendant of the Justesen Family from Enidore. I think you will be more familiar with Spyros Bach Justesen of Enidore Dominion, he is my grandfather."
