Chapter 95 Frustrating Restrictions

Chapter 95 Frustrating Restrictions

Alex's grin stretched wider, his excitement practically radiating off him.

"Attributes points?" he muttered to himself, the words tasting sweet on his tongue. It was exactly what I need right now.

Attribute points were arguably the most valuable resource he could have at thanks to [Attribute Converter] and they were piling up like a jackpot in his favor.

His thoughts raced as he calculated the benefits.

With attribute points, he could acquire upgrade stones, which were essential for ranking up his skills. And now, thanks to the strange yet beneficial system of this Nightmare realm, he was earning attribute points as a reward for defeating monsters.

Fifty points. Discover hidden stories at My Virtual Library Empire

He quickly added that to his already growing stockpile:

Thirty-five points left from defeating the Monkey King.

Thirty points he still had from the Monkey Shaman.

That brought his total to a jaw-dropping one hundred and fifteen points.

Alex's heart raced.

That was enough to upgrade a skill two times!

The decision was already made.

There was no need to debate or overthink it—he knew exactly where those points were going.

"[Exploding Touch]," he whispered, the name sending a thrill down his spine.

He had started upgrading the skill already, and it had proven to be a game-changer.

Now, he intended to max it out, pushing it to its highest rank, no matter the cost.

"More broken... more powerful... more OP," Alex said with a smirk, the anticipation electrifying his body.

He could already imagine the devastation [Exploding Touch] would unleash after this upgrade.

With excitement coursing through him, Alex balled his fists tightly, his mind buzzing with the possibilities.

With this skill he could blast through any obstacle. Straight to the top.

The thought alone made him grin.

He decided, right then and there, to use his newly acquired attribute points.

There was no reason to wait.

He pulled up his stats panel, ready to allocate the points.

But as he hovered over the options, a question gnawed at him:

What happens if another skill crosses 100 points?

Would another god show up to recruit him, just like Savatar did when his agility surpassed the hundred mark?

The memory of that encounter made him groan in frustration.

Savatar, the so-called god of speed, had been insufferable and although Alex had humiliated and send him packing, he had no desire to go through that again.

Alex rubbed his temples already feeling frustrated.

No way I'm dealing with another bastard like him.

With that thought in mind, he made a decision.

He was going to put the points in agility.

It was already above hundred, and there was no way Savatar would dare show his face again after the embarrassment he suffered last time.

Plus, Alex reasoned, this dream-like Nightmare realm had to work differently.

He doubted the gods would enter the nightmare realm to recruit.

"Yeah," Alex said, nodding to himself.

"Agility it is. Safe choice."

He focused his thoughts, ready to assign points into his agility stat. But the moment he tried to confirm the allocation, a sudden notification popped up in Alex's vision:

[You cannot assign points to attributes in Nightmare.]

Alex froze, his brow furrowing as he squinted at the glowing message.

"What?" he muttered, utterly confused.

Had he done something wrong?

He took a deep breath, trying to think it through.

The system allowed him to distribute stat points either by thought or vocal command.

He had attempted the first, and it had failed.

Maybe he just needed to try the second option.

"System, assign 100 points to my agility," he commanded confidently, his voice steady.

The notification blinked again:

[You cannot assign points to attributes in Nightmare.]

Alex's jaw clenched in frustration.

"What the—? Come on!"

He tried once more, stubbornly repeating the process, only to be met with the same response.

[You cannot assign points to attributes in Nightmare.]

"Ehh… why?!" Alex finally exclaimed, throwing his hands up in exasperation.

"If I can't use the attribute points, then what's the point of giving them as a reward?" Alex muttered, his voice heavy with irritation.

The thought gnawed at him, and the more he considered it, the angrier he became.

He had already thought it was reckless for the Nightmare to hand out upgrade points so generously.

If players could use them instantly, they'd grow stronger too fast.

But now the Nightmare intention had been made clear.

The Nightmare wasn't going to allow players to use attribute points until they escaped.

If they escaped.

Alex's expression darkened.

Escape wasn't guaranteed.

In fact, it seemed unlikely for most.

If no one survived the Nightmare, what good were the unused stat points they earned?

They'd die with them, wasted and pointless.

Alex grunted in frustration, his fists clenching tightly.

"This is so messed up," he growled.

But even as anger surged within him, Alex forced himself to let it go.

Dwelling on the unfairness wouldn't help him in any way.

If anything it fueled him to decimate this fucked up world.

With a weary sigh, he relaxed his shoulders and accepted the harsh reality.

Stat points or not, Alex was confident.

He didn't need an arsenal of upgrades to crush this Nightmare.

The strength he already had was enough, and his plan was simple: stay, fight, defeat the Grim Lord, and rack up as many stats points as possible along the way.

Rising to his feet, Alex stretched his arms, rolling his shoulders to ease the tension from his earlier battle.

His sharp gaze swept over the island bathed in soft moonlight.

It looked almost serene—lush trees swayed in the cool breeze, and the scent of fresh earth and saltwater mingled in the air.

For a moment, Alex let himself enjoy it.

He closed his eyes and breathed deeply, letting the soothing calm wash over him.

But when he opened them, the peaceful facade faded.

His eyes glinted sharply as he activated [Farsight], his vision stretching far ahead into the jungle.

The illusion of tranquility shattered.

He could see them.

Monsters—dozens of them—prowling the dense foliage, their glowing eyes and shifting forms moving with unsettling grace.

The jungle was teeming with danger.

But Alex wasn't fazed.

He looked up and saw beyond it, looming high above the treetops, a tall mountain stood silhouetted against the twin moons.

Alex's lips curved into a determined smirk.

"Destination spotted. Time to move," Alex muttered under his breath, his eyes fixed on the towering mountain in the distance.
