524. Kahndaq.
524. Kahndaq.
524. Kahndaq.
Outside the city of Kahndaq, on a sand dune, a shadow suddenly squeezed out of the air. Then, the shadow bloomed like a blooming flower, and soon, a large black umbrella emerged from it.
It was like a signal. With the appearance of the black umbrella, the shadow began to twist rapidly and expand. Within seconds, the shadow turned into several tendrils, supporting a humanoid figure as it emerged.
Feeling the dryness in the air, Alex took a deep breath and slowly opened the black umbrella to shield himself from the sun.
"So this is Kahndaq."
As a desert oasis nation, the border cities of Kahndaq were quite underdeveloped, and the buildings here were not typical apartment blocks but rather more dilapidated sand structures.
They resembled cave dwellings in some ways, though these were even poorer.
Due to its location on the border and deep in the desert, sandstorms frequently swept through the area. As a result, the city's buildings were not designed for aesthetic purposes but for disaster protection.
Casually putting on the eye mask, Alex noticed the symbols on the surface of the black umbrella glowing. His figure quickly became ethereal and blended with the surrounding landscape.
In arcane magic, invisibility spells were not considered high-level magic, but after Alex's modification, even a regular invisibility spell could leave no trace behind.
He could even hide his breathing and heartbeat, which was why he dared to walk boldly into Kahndaq.
He raised his hand and took out his phone. After Tim had upgraded the system, all the apps on the phone had been replaced with a completely new interface.
The contacts were all consolidated, and several special apps had been added, such as Justice Society information, mission briefs, and data browsing.
These apps were generally used by Justice Society members to communicate, and some even allowed them to post mission updates on their "friend feeds." However, only a few people like Catwoman would post, as most remained silent.
Through the data browsing app, Alex could see some background information about the Intergang. This organization was a large network spanning multiple countries, hiding in various nations to establish power and engage in illegal activities.
At first, people thought of them as just another criminal gang, but after the Kryptonian War, their attempts to seize Kryptonian technology brought them to the attention of Bruce Wayne.
After Bruce's investigation, he uncovered more intelligence about the group.
The Intergang had not only extended its influence in the U.S. but had also overthrown several small nations' governments. They had vast financial resources and began to acquire extraordinary items and alien technologies.
After the Justice Society heroes successfully dismantled their power in the U.S., the organization went underground and shifted its focus to other small nations.
Kahndaq, being a backward country, became the primary target of the Intergang's plan.
It was said that Kahndaq possessed a rare magical metal called Eternium, which had some connection to Shazam's Eternal Rock. The mysterious energy of this metal had drawn the attention of the Intergang.
Having lost most of the Kryptonian technology, the Eternium seemed to be the best means for the Intergang to take revenge on the Justice Society.
This was all the information stored in the Justice Society's database. It seemed that Bruce Wayne and the others also wanted to eliminate the Intergang, but because the heroes had their own cities to protect, it was difficult to take action in such a faraway place.
Hourman, Doctor Mid-Nite, Wildcat, and even The Flash all had their own cities to safeguard. Moreover, since Kahndaq was now controlled by the Intergang, it was their home turf, and any intervention would require careful planning.
To make matters worse, if they were to execute an operation in another country, they would need to secure permission. Without it, it would be considered an illegal military operation, which could lead to significant trouble.
But there was no way around it. The Justice Society now had the "American" prefix, and in the eyes of the public, the Justice Society of America was seen as one of the U.S. military forces. Even if Batman didn't admit it, it couldn't be helped.
In fact, this was a concession that Bruce Wayne had to make.
In order to better recover and preserve Kryptonian technology and the remains of Kryptonians, Bruce had held several discussions with Congress. He didn't want to hand these items over to the military, but the military also didn't want to relinquish the alien technology.
In the end, due to the interference of the Intergang and the immense destruction, loss of life, and property damage caused, both sides were forced to make compromises under the pressure of public opinion.
Bruce and the heroes recovered all the remains of the Kryptonians and the stolen Kryptonian technology, while the original Justice Society was renamed the Justice Society of America and came under partial control of Congress.
Of course, this was merely a temporary solution for Bruce Wayne. After the formation of the Justice Society, he took a backseat and quietly set up many hidden strategies. The fact that Tim had not joined the Justice Society was part of his plan.
But the specific steps of these plans were known only to Bruce Wayne.
As Alex entered the city, he gazed at the files on his phone and recalled the plot from his memory.
Although the world had undergone tremendous changes, and what was about to happen here diverged significantly from the original storyline, Alex still trusted in the power of the timeline's convergence.
At least there were some parts of the plot that still aligned, and these were the clues that Alex needed to tightly control.
Apart from the fact that the Intergang controlled the entire Kahndaq and was mining the Eternium here, there was another piece of information that had surfaced.
A man named Ishmael, who claimed to be "the last living descendant of King Ahk-Ton," had approached members of the Intergang and revealed the existence of a magical crown within Kahndaq.
This crown was an artifact of the ancient King Ahk-Ton of Kahndaq, who had sought power from an ancient demon. Once the crown was worn, King Ahk-Ton could receive the demon's blessing and transform into the demon known as "Sabbac."
In the comics, Sabbac was one of the primary enemies of Shazam.
Similar to Shazam, those who were blessed by demons would also have to shout "Sabbac" to transform into their demonic form and gain terrifying powers unlike ordinary demons.
Just like Shazam received his power from six ancient gods, Sabbac's power also came from six demons.
They were: Satan, Crateis, Asmodeus, Beelzebub, Aym, and Belial.
The Intergang clearly did not understand the true function of this crown. Ishmael had concealed the origin of the demon and hoped to use the Intergang's power to activate the demonic blessing hidden within his own genes.
Looking at the current timeline, the crown had already been exposed in the real world, and Black Adam had been released. Now, the Intergang would stop at nothing to find the crown.
To find this crown, which carried demonic power, they would need to locate Black Adam and the woman who had released him, Adrianna.
Finding these two individuals in such a vast country was clearly no easy task.
However, for Alex, this was not a problem. The divine and magical energy surrounding Black Adam, which was completely different from this world's, would make him as visible as a torch in the night.
As Alex entered the city center of Kahndaq, the buildings here were much better than the sand structures in the suburbs, and a sense of technology began to emerge in his view, with more cars appearing on the streets.
The residents of Kahndaq hurried down the streets, each one silently keeping their head down, never engaging in conversation with anyone. There was no sign of a smile on their faces.
Perhaps this was related to the Intergang members on the streets, each holding firearms.
After taking control of the small country, the Intergang had stationed many of their members here. They were armed with firearms, meticulously checking the identification and belongings of the locals.
The Intergang aimed to make Kahndaq an isolated nation, not wanting anyone to spread word of what was happening here. If any other countries became suspicious, it would be disastrous.
The existence of the Eternium was a secret, and if the major powers learned of it, not only would Kahndaq be at risk, but the Intergang would also be unable to hold onto these valuable resources.
The sentries of the Intergang were no obstacle for Alex. While in an invisible state, he could move freely and unobstructed anywhere.
Even if he passed by someone, they wouldn't notice his presence.
At this moment, the challenge before Alex was how to find the location of Black Adam.
Holding the black umbrella, Alex slowly extended his hand. Soon, the sand on the ground began to move and, under the guidance of an unseen force, quickly gathered into the palm of his hand.
"Dust of Kahndaq, tell me, where is the king of this land?"
He murmured, and as Alex's lips moved, the magical power was immediately activated.
The sand in his hand spun rapidly, forming a small tornado in his palm, trembling slightly as if it was listening to his words and searching for something.
Focusing his attention on the swirling sand, Alex's concentration deepened.
Just then, a violent explosion suddenly erupted from a building in the distance.
The deafening sound instantly caused chaos, with people running in panic. Even Alex had to shift his gaze and look toward the site of the explosion.
In the distance, at the center of the city, a massive bolt of lightning shot out fiercely.
With Alex's sharp vision, he could even see a few members of the Intergang being thrown into the air like cannonballs.
