Qiao Chuchu took a deep breath and feigned nervousness, saying, "Zhu Changming's men brought me here. Their car is parked outside."

Zhu Changming glanced at the surveillance feed and indeed saw his men's car.

Qiao Chuchu tilted her chin up, her expression stubborn. "I set him up and drugged him because I love him. He promised to give me a proper place by his side and marry me. But I never expected him to end up like this."

Tears streamed down her face as her gaze shifted past Zhu Changming and landed on Lou Tingsi. "I know he’s done for this time. He won’t make it out alive."

Her voice broke as she continued, "But I don’t want him to die alone."

Lou Tingsi’s calm mind exploded, as if a grenade had been dropped, obliterating all coherent thought.

Qiao Chuchu walked step by step toward him. "I know why Lou Tingsi is afraid of women. When he was young, his mother abandoned him. His father chased her down, and when she had nowhere to run, she chose to jump into a river with his younger brother, leaving Lou Tingsi behind without a second glance."

"I know that as a child, Lou Tingsi held onto hope, hoping his mother would take him with her, even if it meant death."

"But she didn’t."

She crouched in front of Lou Tingsi and gently cupped his face in her hands.

Lou Tingsi stared at her in shock, his beautiful eyes wide with astonishment, reflecting Qiao Chuchu’s image.

Qiao Chuchu gazed at him firmly, her voice soft but resolute. "Lou Tingsi, I want you to know that even if your mother didn’t take you with her, there’s someone in this world who loves you. I’m willing to be with you, no matter where we go, because I—"

In one swift motion, she grabbed Lou Tingsi and dived behind the couch!

Lou Tingsi smirked but didn’t answer. Instead, he wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes. "Thank you for saving me. Leave the rest to me. Stay here and wait for me, okay?"

She frowned, peeking out from behind the couch, only to see Lou Tingsi loading his gun as he walked, firing shot after shot at the traitors.

Every bullet hit its mark, piercing their hearts.

One by one, the traitors fell.

Finally, only Zhu Changming remained.

Zhu Changming had been forced to his knees by Song Yu.

His face was flushed, whether from pain or frustration, as he screamed hoarsely, "Lou Tingsi, you never trusted me for a second!!"

Lou Tingsi pressed the barrel of his gun to Zhu Changming’s forehead, his voice calm. "I always trusted you, Changming."

Zhu Changming’s eyes widened in disbelief. "Then why did you always keep your guard up around me?!"

Lou Tingsi’s expression remained impassive, though a hint of self-mockery tinged his voice. "Because too many people have betrayed me. I’ve learned to be cautious with everyone."

Zhu Changming fell silent for a moment before letting out a bitter laugh. "Even now, you won’t tell me how you found out about me, will you?"

Lou Tingsi glanced in Qiao Chuchu’s direction. "I already gave you the answer earlier."

He smiled gently and pulled the trigger.

"I really do have a guardian angel."

Zhu Changming’s eyes widened in disbelief before his body stiffened and collapsed to the ground, a bloody hole in his forehead.

Lou Tingsi crouched down, reached out, and closed Zhu Changming’s eyes. He then took out a disinfectant wipe and meticulously cleaned each of his fingers before placing the wipe over Zhu Changming’s face.

"Send his ashes to the Long family. Use his death photo as the memorial portrait."

Song Yu nodded. "Understood!"

Lou Tingsi suppressed the lingering melancholy in his heart and walked over to Qiao Chuchu with a smile. "I’m done here."

Qiao Chuchu slowly peeked out from behind the couch, still in disbelief. "You just killed him like that?"

He raised an eyebrow, teasing her. "What, do you think I’m too cruel?"

Qiao Chuchu glared at him. "No! You should’ve questioned him properly to see if he was hiding anything from you. Now that he’s dead, how are you supposed to find out?!"

Song Yu, seeing her frustration, stepped forward to intervene. "Sister-in-law, don’t get too upset. It’s not good for your health, especially since you’re pregnant."

Qiao Chuchu: "Huh?"

Lou Tingsi froze for a moment before bursting into laughter. "HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Qiao Chuchu was utterly confused. "Who’s pregnant?! I’m not pregnant! I only said that to distract him earlier!!"

Song Yu was at a loss, unsure who to believe, and looked to Lou Tingsi for guidance.

Lou Tingsi suppressed a smile and glanced at Qiao Chuchu with amusement. "Don’t say such things. Miss Qiao is single and has nothing to do with me. Let’s not tarnish her reputation."

He leaned down and ruffled her hair. "Getting angry really isn’t good for your health, so let’s not be mad anymore, okay?"

Qiao Chuchu puffed out her cheeks, looking like an adorable little pufferfish. "It’s all because you didn’t listen to me. If you had, you wouldn’t have had to go through all this!"

"You’re right, it’s my fault," Lou Tingsi said soothingly. "Let’s not be angry anymore. This place is too dangerous. Let’s go home, and you can scold me all you want, okay? My savior?"
