"You don't seem to be yanking my chain but to be sure you don't mind letting me get a second opinion on this right?" Brent asked and I nodded. "By all means if it sets your mind at ease do so. You have my contact information so once you do please contact me so we can discuss me purchasing the plate from you." I said calmly. I honestly didn't mind letting someone else taking a look at the plate as they'd not find anything new unless they were aware of the very well hidden lore on the plates.-

I highly doubted that even Cynthia would be able to say that what I said was wrong as not once in my searching through the available records on the pokenet did I find even a mention about the plates. Clearly Brent felt my confidence in this matter as he chuckled "You truly seem to believe what you've said and seem a straight enough fellow so I think we can deal now. Half a million poke seems fair." he said and I smiled and set up a transfer of funds from my account to his easily enough over the pokenet.-

I walked out of that café with the plate in hand and couldn't help but wonder how the fuck I was supposed to find the other sixteen. In the game you had to dig them up and could find them in one trip to the underground if you were lucky but I doubted that was the case in reality. Unlike in the game the underground in reality was a massive set of tunnels beneath the entire region that one could easily get lost in if they weren't careful. Also just getting to the underground and back was an annoying process.-

There were specific locations that acted as the go between point for it and the surface unlike in the game where you effectively teleported in and out using a single item. Still not all the differences between the game and reality were disadvantageous as the things in the game that were pretty much worthless there held actual value in reality. The shards and gemstones dug up down there were a source of respectable income for a good many due to the innate value of those items as luxury goods. The shards for example were highly valued since they could be ground into dust that was then made into paints that were extremely high quality.-

As for the gemstones, well they were gemstones and that pretty much answered that question by itself. Thanks to my x-ray vision I was uniquely suited to dig in the underground but I felt that perhaps it would be best if I waited until Cyrus was taken care of first. Still a bit of a delay collecting the plates wouldn't likely make any difference. I rented a training field for the day and released my pokemon who were all in their own way curious about the plate.-

Tank received the thing since it was for his typing and he shared his insight on how it effected him with everyone. He more or less said that it caused his aura to "vibrate" or something like that in a manner that caused him to feel exceptionally good. We tested his bug type moves with and without the plate and it was eerie how precisely at twenty percent improvement they showed with the plate. It didn't matter if he held back or went full power with the moves as when he was holding the plate all bug type moves hit as hard as he intended with an exact twenty percent increase from there.-

To clarify type boosting items did NOT work like that. See most type boosting items worked a bit like conduits for the type energy that makes the moves of that type sent through them stronger than normal but NEVER so precisely. This plate on the otherhand not only worked precisely to boost that type of move but also did it in such a way that made it ideal for training moves. It was a bit like the Boost ability I and Oak had that gave our pokemon a taste of the next level of power so they had a guide about where they needed to train towards.-

The plate took this exact same concept and removed the limitation I and Oak had where the ability rapidly drained us of our aura. I was also willing to bet that the power the holder of the plate had bore no consequence to the boot. In other words you could in theory repeatedly use the thing as a guide to ever greater power. For example if Tank learned how to use his bug type moves at the boosted level of the plate currently without using it.-

Once he used the plate again he would experience what an exactly twenty percent stronger version of it would be like. I couldn't even begin to explain how absolutely fucking terrifying that was. There were exactly seventeen of these plates in the world, no more or less. If each plate gave a similar level of potential growth in power then I had little doubt that if word of this spread wars might be fought to possess them. 'Was that one of the ways humanity reset itself previously?' I thought with a shudder.-

It fit didn't it? Rayquaza had said that humanity had reached for things they shouldn't have and imploded as a result and this absolute qualified. Infinite growth with a single type had in theory at least the potential to create artificial gods. The godly pokemon in this world had actual limits to their power and from what I gathered didn't train to increase them normally so it should be possible to reach that level of power using these plates. I could even understand why the godly pokemon hadn't squirrelled away the plates now that I was thinking about it.-

They didn't need to. It was not only next to impossible to discover for anyone not me but also the plates were all hidden. Brent got extremely lucky to dig up this one but without knowing exactly where they were buried the chances of someone else getting that lucky were abysmal. This wasn't a joke as if the plates were scattered across all of Sinnoh at the time they were buried then you would have to comb every single inch of the underground of the region and that would take a ridiculous amount of time and resources to accomplish.
