CH.580 Insect and Spider-folk
With the first airship made, I took the ship for a test flight. It went fine, as expected. But honestly speaking, I won’t get enough data with one ship, no matter how much I fly it.
So it was time to optimize the manufacturing process. I won’t be selling/leasing these ships until I have a few of them, my goal being 5 before I advertise them.
And the optimization meant shoving everything off to my monsters, while I just oversaw everything. Well, I oversaw most things. Some of the furniture manufacturing could be left fully to my monsters. Because I have a secret quality control person. She goes by Tahlia.
I can just take the finished airship into Storage and have Tahlia scan it for any issues. And if there are any, we’ll fix them.
That gave me time to focus on other things. Like new skills. And new races.
I had talked with Sharon a bit, so I could better understand her spider leg things. And I think I’ve gotten to the point where I can imitate them and potentially get the spider-kin race.
I have a few skills that should get me there, but I went with the prototype skill literally designed for this, Manamorphic Body. With it, I made myself four spider legs that came out of my mid-back, and then I played around with them for some time. And afterwards, when I checked, I’d gotten a new race.
But not Spider-kin as I assumed, but just Spider-folk. Apparently I’m too basic to immediately get the kin version.
Not much change while I’m a Spider-folk. I get those spider leg looking extra limbs coming out of my back, as well as a pair of extra eyes. Just one set of extra eyes, not three. That is probably why I couldn’t become a Spider-kin. They do have eight eyes, not four.
I tried to make myself extra eyes with Manamorphic Body, but admittedly, I have no idea how to make an eye, so I couldn’t get access to the Spider-kin race that way.
And since I was already working on getting new races, I decided to get Insect-folk as well.
At first I attempted to do it by hardening my skin into like the chitin covering Miris’ body, but that ended up failing. So instead, I just cheated and activated DNA Surgery, declaring Insect-type, and transforming myself that way. And after deactivating DNA Surgery, I luckily kept the Insect-folk race in One of Every Race.
Again, as an Insect-folk, not too much changed. Mainly that some parts of my skin got covered by a layer of chitin.
And thanks to the two new races, I got access to two new skills. Web Making and Poison Making. Also, interestingly enough, after I unlocked the Insect-folk race, and what I think might be more important, the Poison Making skill, I also unlocked the Spider-kin race.

As you may have noticed, I have some other new races. Whip Wielder, Archer and Brawler are class races related to Bow, Whip and Unarmed Combat Techniques. I got access to them when the base skill got to level 5.
I also got a new modifier. Multi-Eyes. Yeah, it just allows me to have more eyes while I’m not a spider-folk/kin. I’m still forced to have 8 as a Spider-kin, but I can have 6 or 4 as a Spider-folk. And naturally 2, 4, 6 or 8 as basically any of the other races.
But I’ll be sticking with just 2 eyes. I don’t really need more, and they don’t really help. I might try getting used to them, but probably not.
Also, since I’ve been busy, I’ve played around with the Chef class race. And I’ve unlocked two different class skills related to the race.
One is Instant Kitchen. A leveless skill that spawns you a kitchen, wherever and whenever you want. Sadly, the kitchen comes with nothing, and you have to get the appliances yourself. It is basically just a room you can pack however you want, and then make appear whenever you want.
The other racial skill of the Chef is Instant Meal. With it, you can instantly make any meal you’ve made before, as long as you have the ingredients. It does use some mana, more with more complicated meals, and the meals will always be a perfect copy of the meal you’ve made beforehand, so you can never improve the taste. And yes, like Instant Kitchen, it doesn’t have a level.
Still, both are really nice skills.
And there is one more skill I’ve gained, but that one I got because of my overall level, so I’ll show you my status first, and then I’ll explain the skill.
As you may have noticed, I’ve gone a bit overboard with my skill leveling. Especially when it comes to skills where the level doesn’t really affect the usability of the skill, like Defense Boost, Miasma Resistance and Tamer’s Paradise.
The Mining, Crafting and Designing level ups are actually mostly natural, just because of how much work I put into the airship designing and manufacturing. And how complex that stuff actually is.
As for the new skill I teased. When I got to level 250, well I actually skipped straight to 251, I got the High-Leveled Individual title and the Overpowering Aura skill. With Overpowering Aura, I can emit an aura around myself, and it causes people around me to feel pressured. Unless I specifically exclude them from the aura’s effect.
The effectiveness of the aura is dependent on levels, so the larger the difference in our overall levels, the more effective the aura becomes. In theory, if I use the aura at maximum power, even with a level 1 skill, I could kill someone with just the aura. If they are under level 5. And as I level up that skill, that power should grow, same as the AoE of the aura.
Luckily the area of effect is not that large at level 1, so I’ll be able to learn the skill before I accidentally murder everyone in a city or something.
