Chapter 1143: Odun and the Throne

Chapter 1143: Odun and the Throne

"What is the meaning of this!?"

"Father!"

The voice echoed, thundered, reverberated, drummed, and all sorts of loud descriptions one could think of—it was filled with authority and power, and the one who spoke them seemed to think too as he stepped inside the lavish hall with confidence.

But alas, what he found inside, however, was a crowd that did not respond to his so-called authority at all. The man did not seem to care; he adjusted his eye patch as his remaining eye just scanned the area — first, he looked at Miss Pepondosovich and the others' table, and as soon as he did so, his eye started to squint.

It landed on Monkeh first, and just escaped Odun's lips; his sigh, however, was short-lived as soon as his single eye suddenly landed on Miss Pepondosovich—wondering what sort of existence was currently in his hall.

And then… his eye landed on V.

Odun stared at her for a few seconds, a hint of a smile forming on his face. But after a few seconds, he just shook his head and focused on Heli, who was rushing toward him.

"Explain yourself!" Odun then tapped his spear that just suddenly appeared in his hand, "I have left Aegard to you to protect—why do I hear from Heirdall that you have brought that damn monkey back here!?"

"Father!" Heli's lips slightly twitched as Odun pointed at Monkeh, "Do not disrespect him like that! He is a monkey of merit!"

"He!?" Odun then stepped forward; his head shaking in rage as he stood in front of his daughter; his saliva, just spitting everywhere on his face, "The monkey is not even a he anymore! We have talked about this—your obsession with the monkey has caused you to become even blinder than me! I will be giving you a chance to get rid of them…

…now!"

"You don't have to tell me twice," Monkeh, who was the one who started all of this, just let out a long and very deep sigh while looking at their table, "We should go—we are no longer welcome here."

"We never were, relax," Miss Pepondosovich, however, just waved her hand at Monkeh and continued eating, "We're already here—it's best to enjoy the lavish and luxurious carrots. I think there's a banana there somewhere."

"...Did you just say that?" Aurora's eyes widened as she looked at Monkeh, but she did not seem offended at all—in fact, her eyes somewhat even glistened as she looked at the table of food.

"You dare stay when I told you to leave!?" Odun just once again roared—his wrinkles and his long eyebrows just trembling along with the rage in his voice, "I do not know what sort of people you all are—but here in Aegard, we respect our hosts!"

"Relax, old man…" Miss Pepondosovich let out another sigh while glancing at Odun, "...And we were invited here by your daughter, won't it be rude to just suddenly kick us out?"

"You were invited without my permission!" Odun raised his voice as he once again tapped his spear on the floor—this time causing a trickle of lightning to crawl across the luxurious carpets.

"..." V could not help but blink a couple of times as some of the lightning seeped through his flesh—and she did not like it at all. She glared at Odun, but Odun just turned his focus back to Heli.

"This is my last warning to you—even if you are my daughter, you will be punished if these people do not leave my hall!" Odun roared, "I will count down to—What!?"

And finally, Odun finally noticed the thing he should have noticed from the start… well, perhaps the reason why he didn't notice in the first place was because he thought no one would actually be foolish enough to be doing it.

There was a man, just casually sitting on his throne.

A man wearing pajamas.

"Who!?" And once again, Odun's voice reverberated—and this time, it extended out of the hall and into the entirety of Aegard—all of his people and subjects, feeling his anger and rage.

"Wait, Father!" Heli quickly blocked Odun's path as he stomped his way to Riley, but she was just casually pushed away by Odun, "Wait… Father! You don't understand, he is—"

"Silence!" Odun once again screamed, almost as if that was the only thing he could actually do, "Speak, Ghost! Who are you to dare sit on my throne!?"

"Riley Ross."

"...Huh?"

Odun truly did not expect that Riley would actually answer him—and he answered him almost immediately and without even a change in expression. And for the first time, Odun forgot to shout as he just looked bewildered at this… weird creature in front of him.

"...And why are you sitting on my throne, Riley Ross?" Odun growled.

"This is not your throne, Mister," Riley shook his head before pointing at Heli, "She gave it to me, therefore, it is mine now."

"She… gave… it to you?" Odun's one single eye twitched as he glanced at Heli. Heli wanted to say something, but Odun quickly raised a finger to stop her from talking—Odun then closed his eye as he took in a deep breath that caused the clouds of Aegard to tremble, literally, "It is not hers to give—that is mine."

"Well…" Riley blinked a couple of times, "...You can take the other one."

"Huh…?" Odun also blinked a couple of times as he looked to where Riley was pointing, only to see another throne that was not supposed to be there, "Wait—that's Freyga's…Heli!?"

"Wait, Father! I have an expla—"

"You dare dig up your mother's throne!?" Odun's face turned red; his hand that was holding his spear already trembled, "I—My… my blood pressure."

Odun then slightly staggered—and before he could actually fall… Riley quickly pulled out the other throne and let Odun just land there instead.

"Please be very careful." And while Odun's expression was now completely blank, Riley was letting out a sigh and shaking his head, "Old people like you should not strain themselves—I was told by Sister that your people could die at any time, so you needed to be treated with utmost care. And—"

"Enough!"

And before Riley could finish his words, his body suddenly flew across the hall; violently rolling on the floor several times before hitting the wall—no. His body went through the wall and was now just flailing along in the air of Aegard, flying straight down into its bustling and lively city and violently landing on a stall filled with tomatoes.

"My… my tomatoes!"

And while the people below the streets of Aegard were confused about the sudden appearance of Riley, Odun was still seething back in his hall.

"Father, what have you done!?" Heli rushed toward the hole that Riley made, "That man is not someone we could—"

"Shut up!" And before Heli could finish his words, Odun just threw his spear—it was slow, but for some reason, everyone could feel the weight of it; the very air itself was being sucked in due to how heavy it was. How that was even possible, well…

…Logic does not apply to gods.

And soon, the spear just flew straight out of the hall—most likely heading for Riley.

"Father!?" Heli stared at the flying spear first before focusing on Odun, "What… what have you done!? That man is a friend of Death!"

"And now he is with her!" Odun scoffed, "What nonsense are you even saying? First, you bring that damn monkey back to my hall, and then you even brought a strange creature…

…I should strip you of your title and throw you into a random planet. You are not worthy of your moniker anymore!"

Odun then let out a very long and deep breath as he walked back to his throne—and with another sigh, he shook his head and finally sat down on it.

"...And who are these people?" Odun then finally noticed the frenzied crowd who previously attacked Riley, "And why are they not even welcoming me?"

Unfortunately for Odun, they were still completely stunned and shocked upon meeting the literal concept of Death.

"And what is—!!!" And before Odun could finish his words, he quickly stretched his hand forward to catch his spear which was returning to him at a speed faster than when he threw it, "!?"

Unfortunately for him, the momentum did not stop at all as he found himself being flung across the hall; his feet dragging across the carpet and only really stopping when the spear stabbed through the wall.

"W…what…?" Odun's eye turned wide, slightly confused as to what just happened. But very soon, everyone heard a step as Riley… well, he just casually walked back through the large front doors of the hall.

His entire body, completely covered in red—still dripping from his white pajamas and staining the luxurious floors of the hall.

And without really even looking at anyone…

…he sat back on his throne.

"Well then…" Riley rested his cheek on his fist while looking at the stunned Odun, "That was fun…

…want to try repeating it again?"

Riley really is best when he's wreaking havoc and having fun.
