Chapter 1118: Riley vs. Monkeh
"So, you're the one who has been killing all of my girls, hm?"
"Just two of them, Monkeh. Were they your clones?"
"No. As I said, they were my girls."
Even with all the noise and chatter around them, Riley and Monkeh were just completely in a world of their own as they stared at each other. And even though there was no wind blowing in the plaza, both their hair seemed to be waving in the air for some reason.
Monkeh seemed to be on the verge of just rushing toward Riley as she gripped her staff tight, but even after several seconds, she hadn't made a move at all and was just looking at Riley from head to toe.
And surprisingly, Riley was the one to break the silence between the two.
"Did I really kill Nine and Three, though?" Riley tilted his head to the side as he looked at the spots where he tortured and ended the two, "They just suddenly turned into clouds and flew away."
"They are dead," Monkeh answered without any hesitation as she scratched her hairless arm; keeping her staff upright by using her long tail, "But they are also immortal — but it would take time for them to grow back."
"Immortal?" Riley let out a small hum, "Interesting."
"Never met an immortal being before?" Monkeh smirked.
"I have met several, Monkeh," Riley just shrugged, "Some of them I have killed."
"Hohoho," Monkeh let out a high-pitched laugh as she started walking around while her tail was holding her staff, "You're very amusing, White Face — this is the first time I am seeing you in the Grand Triangle. It is truly just your bad luck that you docked here while I am on a vacation on this very island."
"Bad luck?" Riley tilted his head to the side before glancing at the tavern where Miss Pepondosovich and Aurora were, "How so, Monkeh?"
"I already told you," Monkeh started waving her hand in front of her face, "Because I am here!"
And with that as her only warning, the staff in her tail just suddenly extended and shot toward Riley — and before it could even reach him, the afterimages it created made it seem like there were hundreds of them.
It did not matter, however, as it quickly just once again turned into one when Riley casually caught and grabbed it.
"Hmph." But unlike Three or Nine, however, Monkeh was able to twist the staff in a way that Riley let go of it. She then finally grabbed the staff with her hand and swung it straight town toward Riley's shoulder — but of course, Riley was able to just step to the side to completely avoid it.
"Tch." Before her staff could slam to the ground, however, Monkeh stopped and caught it with her foot. But even though she did, the ground still cracked and a crevice was formed just from the sheer force of the wind her attack produced.
"Hm?" Riley noticed that, and he quickly approached Monkeh. But as he did so, Monkeh just quickly leaped away, but Riley just once again stood right next to her — she leaped away again, only to find Riley already there waiting for her.
"What are you doing!?" Monkeh could no longer take Riley's passive aggressiveness as she just swung her staff in frustration, "Attack me if you're going to attack me!"
"I just realized something, Monkeh," Riley finally stopped just popping up beside Monkeh as he started looking at her from head to toe, "You remind me of Elder S'adar."
"Who…?"
"A person where I came from," Riley just shrugged, "He too, looks like a monkey."
"You look like a monkey!" Monkeh pointed the staff at Riley.
"That was not meant to be an insult, Monkeh," Riley shook his head, "But your clones did look like monkeys."
"I already said they aren't my clones!" Monkeh then let out a loud harrumph before appearing behind Riley. Riley moved away, but she just once again appeared behind him — almost as if imitating what he just done earlier.
Unfortunately for her, Riley stopped moving.
"What? Not gonna move—Oi!"
And before Monkeh could even taunt Riley, she found herself to be the one backing away as Riley just faced her and started walking forward.
"Do you have no concept of personal space!?" Monkeh pointed the staff at Riley.
"I was told that I do not," Riley shook his head, "And I have no interest in changing that aspect of me at all, Monkeh. Why? Does it make you uncomfortable!?"
"The only thing making me uncomfortable here is your breath!" Monkeh swung her staff at Riley, causing a burst of wind to just blast across the entire plaza; causing the brick and wooden houses to tremble as she did so.
"My breath does not have a smell, Monkeh," Riley once again shook his head, "The bacteria that are responsible for doing so are all dead — but I could actually comment on your breath instead."
"Do you really talk this much while fighting!?"
"Yes," Riley just bent his body back almost 90 degrees as he avoided Monkeh's attack, "But we are not fighting, Monkeh."
"Then what do you call this!?" Monkeh then ripped off several strands of her fur from her leg and then just blew it toward Riley — each of the furs, seemingly having the weight of an entire person. And when it bounced from Riley's face, it turned out the each truly contained a person as several Monkehs just started popping out in front of Riley.
"Die!" And without even any warning, 6 of them swung their staff down, while the remaining six swept the ground so that Riley would have nowhere to dodge.
But their strategy was meaningless in the first place since Riley truly did not dodge at all and just stood there, letting the staff hit him without even a change in expression.
"So, they truly were your clones," Riley let out a small sigh before just swinging both his arms in a circle; collecting all the staff in his arm before just spinning in place and throwing all the clones away, "You lied to me, Monkeh."
"W—" And before Monkeh could even say anything, she watched as Riley just suddenly rushed toward her clones one by one — smashing their heads in almost at the same time with his ridiculous speed; the clouds they turned into after they died, all flying toward her and being absorbed by her pores.
"That is very interesting," Riley squinted his eyes as he once again looked at Monkeh from head to toe.
"What is your name, Warrior?" The tone of Monkeh's voice changed as she finally held the staff with both of her hands.
"Riley Ross."
"Riley Ross…" Monkeh closed her eyes as she got into a stance, "...Then Riley Ross, let us share some pointers with one another."
"Are you sure?" Riley tilted his head to the side.
"Never been sure in my life."
"Very well," Riley then raised his hands as he got into a stance, "Let us dance, Monkeh."
"I am the strongest under the heavens!" And with those words, Monkeh just rushed toward Riley; causing the ground to crack as she did so — she then let out a barrage of thrusts, each of them just casually being deflected by Riley with one hand, "Face me with all of your might!"
Monkeh then retreated back, before just spinning in the air and then slamming her staff down.
"Why would I do that?" Riley whispered as he just quickly dodged her attack — and once again, Monkeh softened the impact of her strike before it could hit the ground, "When you are holding back, Monkeh?"
"Hm…"
"It would seem you value this planet," Riley breathed out as he stretched his arms to the side.
"Stop talking and just fight me with all of your might!"
"Very well."
"!!!" All of Monkeh's fur just stood up on its ends as soon as he heard the sudden shift in Riley's tone. She could not help but just retreat back, gripping her staff and piercing it through the ground to support her legs which were suddenly trembling on their own.
Riley did not even do anything — he wasn't doing anything at all.
He just stood there after saying those words, and yet Monkeh felt like she had already died 6 times just by breathing the same air as this white-haired human in front of her.
"I…" Monkeh just took in a small gulp as her legs just completely gave out, "...I admit defeat."
"At least you are more intelligent than your clones, Monkeh," Riley let out a small sigh as he started approaching Monkeh, "But unfortunately, I will have to kill—"
"Die!" And before Riley could finish his words, a large humanoid pig just suddenly rushed out from nowhere; carrying an ax the size of a car and swinging it straight down at Monkeh.
"What are you doing?" And of course, Riley did not appreciate that at all as he caught the ax before it could hit Monkeh; causing the ground to just explode and form a crater beneath their feet, "Did you…
…just try to steal my kill, Pig?"
