Chapter 300: Chapter 4 The Deliberation in Chang’an
A towering mountain of tens of thousands of Zhang, capped with purple mist and roiling clouds, surprisingly bore a majestic city upon its peak.
Amidst the ethereal mist, this great city seemed to rest upon Heaven’s Vault itself.
There stood a tremendous white jade staircase stretching from the base of the mountain all the way to the top, where the grand city loomed.
The white jade staircase shimmered with radiance, surrounded by celestial mist, its light and fog enigmatic.
The city itself was vast and magnificent, beyond measure.
Above the towering city gates, which sparkled with silver light reaching the skies, were carved two ancient characters flowing with sacred brilliance, enveloped in mist and subtly revealing the profoundest of Taoist principles.
Those two characters were “Chang’an.”
This was the most grandiose city of the Human Race, the Imperial Capital of Great Xia.
Chang’an City.
It stood high above the Nine Heavens, overseeing all sentient beings and the vast landscapes, a stance so grand and imposing like never before.
Chang’an was the name personally chosen by Ancestral Daoist Xia when he saved the Human Race and prevented the great disaster.
The era of Chang’an was also designated by the Ancestral Daoist.
Indeed, it was due to Ancestral Daoist Xia’s existence that the Human Race had passed through twenty thousand years known as the Chang’an Era.
At that time in the Imperial Palace of Chang’an City, within a spacious and brightly lit grand hall.
The hall sparkled with gold and jade, exuding a commanding aura, and within it stood thirty-six jade Spirit Pillars, carved with terrifying mystical runes.
Around them Taoist Patterns faintly emerged, always ready to suppress the Void.
There were also strands of exotic fragrance drifting, refreshing the spirit, dispelling heart demons.
In the grand hall at that moment, six cultivators stood; some meditated with closed eyes, while others remained silently, yet the aura that each emitted was as deep and terrifying as the abyss.
Not long after, an elderly man dressed in a blue Taoist robe and with white hair walked out from a side chamber, hands clasped behind his back.
His face was aged and wrinkled, yet his eyes revealed a divine light as if he could see through everything.
“Heavenly Secrets Pavilion Master.”
The six cultivators in the hall, upon seeing the old man, straightened up and addressed him with respect.
For the old man before them was none other than the current Pavilion Master of the Taoist Sect’s Heavenly Secret Pavilion, the National Teacher of Great Xia.
“Gentlemen, I’ve summoned you here by the decree of the Supreme. You all must be aware of it?”
“We are aware, but what does the Supreme intend?” a middle-aged man in a deep purple robe asked. “It’s an assembly so grand that it required summoning all seven Sect Masters of the Taoist Sects, and even you personally appeared.”
This middle-aged man had an authoritative aura, and on him emanated a presence rising like the deep and terrifying abyss, with a low rumbling sound.
He was the Vice Palace Master of the Great Pure Palace.
“From Heavenly River City, Sword Immortal Chu sent a message,” the Heavenly Secrets Pavilion Master spoke deliberately. “The Demon Race has started to move.”
All six of the attending Sect Masters from the Taoist Sects showed a slight change in their expression upon hearing this.
At their level, only such earth-shattering events could still affect them.
“Two years ago, when the former Pavilion Master ascended, you all must remember the words he left behind?” the Heavenly Secrets Pavilion Master’s expression showed an unprecedented solemnity.
“The Abyss is coming…” the deputy master of the Great Pure Palace said gravely.
The Heavenly Secrets Pavilion Master nodded, his eyes flashing with an indescribable meaning, “The current situation is exactly as this prophecy has shown.
Since entering the Tianyuan Year, in just a short span of two years, shadows of the Netherworld stirring trouble have appeared in all Seven Domains of the Human Race.
And on the side of Heavenly River City, pressured by the might of the Ancestral Taoist, the Demon Race, which had been dormant for twenty thousand years, has finally begun to stir.”
“Such internal and external troubles striking at the same time, the implication of which, you all should understand.”
The atmosphere at the scene grew increasingly solemn with the words of the Heavenly Secrets Pavilion Master.
“Ancestral Taoist, what exactly is the situation, why has he not shown himself for a full twenty thousand years, could it be that the Ancestral Taoist has… fallen?” asked a middle-aged man dressed in a purple-gold robe with silver hair.
Although his face looked middle-aged, his skin was as smooth and white as a baby’s, which was eerie.
He was one of the three Sect Leaders of the Rinsing Spirit Sect, Chang Geng Sect Leader.
“I do not know either,” the Heavenly Secrets Pavilion Master shook his head, “The situation with the Taoist Master is only known to the Supreme.”
After a pause, the Heavenly Secrets Pavilion Master affirmed, “However, given the Ancestral Taoist’s realm, if he had perished, the celestial phenomena of his falling would have been earth-shattering and known across all domains. Therefore, it is certain that the Ancestral Taoist has not yet perished.”
The Rinsing Spirit Sect Leader, upon hearing this, asked no further.
Seeing that no one else had more to say, the Heavenly Secrets Pavilion Master continued, “Even with the fear of the Ancestral Taoist, the Demon Race has been holding back for twenty thousand years. This battle is unavoidable.
According to the calculations of the former master of our Heavenly Secret Pavilion, this battle will erupt within a thousand years.”
The profound gaze of the Heavenly Secrets Pavilion Master swept over the faces of the six Taoist Sect cultivators, “Our seven great Taoist Sects, being the most powerful sects of the Human Race, inheritances from Ancient Times, each reigning supreme in their domain, unparalleled by anyone.”
“When the sky falls, it is naturally up to the tall ones to hold it up.
This battle with the Abyss Demon Race, our seven great Taoist Sects and Great Xia, will be the mainstay of the Human Race.”
The voice of the Heavenly Secrets Pavilion Master was filled with age, “But that is still not enough! Do not forget, the great battle twenty thousand years ago, where the Human Race, led by the seven great Taoist Sects, was utterly defeated before the Demon Race.
If it had not been for Ancestral Daoist Xia’s defiant rise, our Human Race might have ceased to exist over those twenty thousand years!”
The words of the Heavenly Secrets Pavilion Master struck everyone’s hearts like a massive rock.
As the strongest of the seven great Taoist Sects, having failed to protect the Human Race during the first Demon Race battle, and instead relying on Ancestral Daoist Xia, who emerged from a Loose Cultivator, to save the Human Race, was indeed a shame for the Taoist Sects.
“Likewise, even though within our seven great Taoist Sects, we have gathered and trained countless prodigies, dominating the younger generation.
Yet, we all understand that given the vast territory of the Human Race, it’s hard to ensure that there aren’t cultivators with the potential of Ancestral Daoist Xia, lurking beyond our sight,” the Heavenly Secrets Pavilion Master spoke with a remote tone, “The former pavilion master, before passing away, observed the Heavenly Secret Mirror.
Peering into the future thousand years of the Human Race, he saw stars that represented the prodigies of the Human Race, shining brilliantly, like a meteor shower.”
“Ancestral Daoist Xia was able to rise defiantly on his own, but he is after all an exception. We cannot let the next Ancestral Daoist Xia grow wildly on his own again.
There are definitely many prodigies among the Human Race who, due to issues with inheritance and resources, have been overlooked!
Ancestral Daoist Xia, if at that time he had the support of our Taoist Sects, perhaps he would not have had to take the steps he did…
Therefore, for the prodigies of the Human Race, especially those who might possibly become the mainstay in our second great war with the Demon Race, or even the decisive factor,” the Heavenly Secrets Pavilion Master’s eyes were unfathomably deep, his tone conveyed an undeniable intention. “We must spare no effort to nurture them, to help them grow!”
“So, the intention of the Supreme is to have our seven great Taoist Sects abandon the concept of rigid adherence, and open the gates of the Taoist Sects to all outstanding young cultivators in the world!”
