Chapter 334 The Power of Gluttony
Chapter 334 The Power of Gluttony
Miss Princess swallowed the food, and without the divinity and Shard's peculiar spirit, it was merely the power of a gemstone that almost caused the female sorcerer to lose herself in endless desires.
"This..."
She couldn't imagine how Shard had managed to eat this thing completely just now.
"Not enough!"
The captain said, drumming his fingers violently on the table, urging her to continue.
So Miss Princess bit her lip and took another gemstone, hesitated for a moment, and then threw it into her mouth.
"Oh!"
She had to brace herself against the table to stand steady, in the moment just before, she almost felt as if the ship was about to take away her senseless spirit.
"Not enough!"
The captain said again, his merman face was particularly ugly, and his voice even carried the sound of the waves.
Miss Princess looked at Shard's retreating back, touched her ruby earrings, and after pulling out a long red ribbon, she wound it around the third bean and threw it into her mouth.
The evil spirits watched her, the cold and damp wind causing her body temperature to rapidly dissipate. She kept her eyes tightly shut for a long time before opening them, the redhead girl felt she was at her limit.
"Do you know what I am going to say?"
The captain shouted, the nine rings in his hand sparkling brilliantly, and the agitated sailors made even more terrifying and ghastly noises.
Miss Princess clenched her fists:
"What do you want to say?"
"What you ate..."
"Not enough!"
Ding dang~
It was as if someone rang a bell next to her ear, a light and pleasant reminder that the banquet was starting, the spreading sound waves instantly suppressing all other noises around.
"What?"
A blood-red light appeared in the cabin at some point; Shard, sprawled on the table, placed his hands on it.
He lifted his head, with an expression as if he could devour everything in front of him. His eyes turned toward the captain opposite him, his black coat transitioned to blood-red, the Ring of Fate automatically emerged behind him, the Spirit Rune of Gluttony bloomed bright, almost overpowering all the other lights in the cabin.
He had deliberately agreed to the last gamble, because "she" had already reminded him of what was going to happen next, and he understood what was about to occur.
Shard, dressed in red, sat at one end of the long table filled with the banquet; as he stood up, the dilapidated wooden table swiftly extended and broadened, a white tablecloth appeared silently, and more food filled the spaces on the table, while the originally tasteless food began to emit a fragrance.
The plates became even more gleaming, as golden candlesticks fell one by one into the center of the utensils, the warm candlelight illuminating all the evil spirits, as well as the astonished expressions of the merman captain and the red-haired girl.
"It's snowing... Maze Lock!?"

These were the captain's words, while the last sentence "Not enough," was spoken by Shard.
The familiar long table appeared, only this time without the dried corpses wrapped in white cloth dangling from above. Instead, the Spirit Rune - Little Match Girl lit up, with snowflakes slowly drifting down from above, intertwining dismal green and blood-red lights, making the cabin even more dreamlike and blurry.
This was the Maze Lock; when the hunger Shard felt broke through a certain limit, the extreme desire for Gluttony connected with the Spirit Runes, thereby awakening the power that had settled in his soul from devouring a deity.
The Lord of the Blood Feast longed to feast, gaining power through the Blood Feast, but a deity always endures the violent urge to ravish food. Shard perfectly replicated this strange state, thus linking the true power of Gluttony.
The use of Maze Lock required an excessive amount of Spirit, for having consumed too many things that shouldn't be eaten, the Spirit that had accumulated with no outlet finally found purpose. In the state of Divine Afterglow, with the Gluttony Spirit Rune being dominant, the power of that Evil God manifested in Shard.
This wasn't the Maze Lock of Gluttony, because Shard had not actually experienced the Lord of the Blood Feast's power of Gluttony. Therefore, Gluttony was not enough to form a new Arcane Technique, and so the enormous Spirit and the Gluttony power from the deity were expressed through Shard's most exhausting Arcane Technique at the moment - Maze Lock, Little Match Girl.
This was not a permanent transformation. If Shard ever had a chance to be this hungry again, and if at that time he had an excessive amount of Spirit, and also an exceptional state of Divine Afterglow, and if he were sitting by a long dining table filled with "people," conforming to the Divine Descent Ritual of the Lord of the Blood Feast, perhaps this scene could reappear.
The fluttering snowflakes descended above the dining table, laden with food, making the food appear even more appealing. The ceiling of the cabin vanished, the profound night sky shone down here, that tranquil Silvermoon echoing peacefully with the stars.
The sound of the waves appeared from nowhere, yet couldn't shake the scene at this moment. The environment in the cabin grew more and more illusory, the floor slightly trembling. The dilapidated wooden floorboards of the cabin gave way to a street lined with long bricks and stones under the moonlight, stretching out at one's feet.
The order of the snow-covered evening street overcame the chaos of the pirate ship.
The snow fell under the Silvermoon night sky, the long table placed upon the snow-covered street, the quiet street of long stones stretching into the distance, where the elegant Black Iron street lamps were lit one by one. The warm yellow light brightened the shops by the street, the peculiar street scene, as well as the evil spirits, the captain, Shard, and Miss Princess behind Shard.
The stool beneath transformed into an opulent gold-backed chair. Dressed in red formal wear, Shard leaned back comfortably against the chair, while Miss Princess instinctively rested her hand there. He was at ease, yet had to endure the intense pain of not being able to feast. The gold Light Traces on him, like burning embers, perfectly accentuated his bizarre appearance at the moment:
"Not enough!"
His hand thumped down on the tabletop, such force displayed because of hunger, yet that feeling of hunger only intensified. The urge to feast made the power churn, stimulating the force sedimented within his soul.
At that moment, the evil spirits seated along the long dining table became guests of the Blood Feast.
They roared, they screamed, but none could leave the table. The snow melted their outer shell slowly, the tablecloth absorbed their power. The pirates sought to snatch wealth that wasn't theirs, but when a more formidable force appeared, they became the ones to be plundered.
They shouldn't have let Shard go so hungry.
The blood-colored mist quietly diffused over the snow-covered street, the evening breeze sweeping away the snowflakes, the drifting snow whiting Shard's shoulders, yet also rendering the Lord of the Blood Feast even more mystical.
Shard at that moment certainly wasn't as powerful as the deity who first held the Blood Feast, but the Maze Lock that could only truly unfold in the High Ring, added with a touch of Divinity's glow, was enough to suppress the ship.
"You've won, now leave this place!"
The merman captain, seated at the other end of the long table covered with a white cloth and sumptuous food, had already sensed that something wasn't right as the cabin surroundings were repeatedly eroded by the snowy night. He decisively gave up the struggle with Shard. However, Shard, who endeavored to maintain his sanity, just shook his head:
"Not enough!"
