Chapter 255: 228. Reminder from Hat Senior Sister
Chapter 255: 228. Reminder from Hat Senior Sister
It was said that there were once a total of nine Angel Kings in heaven, but after one had fallen and another was captured by a witch, only seven remained.
As for the Angel King that witches were most likely to come into contact with, there was only one answer, and that was the Lord of Glory, who still stood as a famous landmark to this day.
And the place where the Lord of Glory was imprisoned...
...was at the Witch Academy.
After all, this Angel King was originally defeated by the God King and was naturally imprisoned within the territory of the Angel Witches, which over time transformed into the Witch Academy of today.
Earlier, Dorothy had already learned that Sophia’s mother was the eldest daughter of the Academy Head, the preordained next successor of the academy, so for her as the future Master of the academy, it was only normal that she could obtain the Lord of Glory’s bloodline for research.
And the bloodline of the Lord of Glory...
Sigh...
Dorothy sighed inwardly, realizing why senior Fanny was so harsh on Sophia, nearly going as far as to try and erase her just because of some minor actions by the Angel Witch.
That was the bloodline of an archenemy, the lineage of the greatest criminal in witch history.
After understanding this, the homebody witch had nothing more to say; indeed, it was impossible to ask for more. Rather, it was strange that the Council of Sages had even agreed to spare Sophia’s life, which was uncharacteristically merciful for a witch’s usual behavior, always preferring to err on the side of killing rather than letting anyone go.
However, it was considered not only because of her mother’s guarantee but also because Sophia’s blood carried not only the blood of a criminal but also that of a hero.
Before her mother went mad, she was known as the Second Generation God King, a pureblooded direct descendant of the God King lineage and the most hopeful of the Angel Witch Clan in the past hundred thousand years to approach godhood. If it weren’t for the stain of the criminal’s blood, Sophia could have been said to have been born with a golden key in her mouth, and even the catchphrase of a certain Lich King would not be an exaggeration when applied to her.
Unfortunately, there are no ’ifs’ in this world.
Dorothy recalled the argument she had with Sophia when they first became roommates a month ago.
The Angel Witch mocked her for being foolish, not recognizing the blessings she had and unwilling to inherit her mother’s business, instead chasing after some dream.
And at that time, she too mocked the Angel Witch as weak and cowardly, lacking the heart of a strong person that matched her strength, always hesitating and trembling in her actions.
But looking back now, anyone else in Sophia’s shoes would probably be just as cautious, for a single misstep could truly mean no redemption.
The very thing she casually discarded was exactly what Sophia yearned for but couldn’t have.
Tsk...
Thinking of this, the homebody witch felt conflicted.
But...
"I believe in her, senior, I believe Sophia would never do anything that would harm the Witch World. Please, senior, don’t be hasty to take action, let’s wait until the investigation is clear," despite senior Fanny’s imposing aura, akin to deities, under her Witch King state, Dorothy still braced herself against the pressure and spoke with conviction.
And as soon as her words fell, the Eyes of the Stars from under the wide brim of her hat stared at her, enveloping the Homebody Witch in immense pressure, making her feel suffocated for a moment.
Divine grace is as boundless as the sea, divine might as unyielding as prison.
In that instant, Dorothy felt as if everything around her had vanished. She found herself in a void, the sky above her tearing open to reveal the Eyes of the Stars constructed from the star clusters. The Eye of God gazed down at her, accompanied by the majestic voice of heaven resonating through the skies.
"Dorothy, do you know what you are saying? You are speaking in defense of the witch’s greatest enemy."
With every word uttered by the voice of heaven, Dorothy felt the pressure on her increase a bit more, but she paid it no mind.
A Mountain of Corpses and a Blood Sea spread out at her feet, and the Skeleton Throne appeared behind her. An unyielding Martial Soul rose from the throne, standing tall and fearlessly looking directly into the Eye of God in the sky.
"Senor Fanny, I am very clear about what I am saying, but the Lord of Glory is the Lord of Glory, Sophia is Sophia. One cannot choose where they are born, so what sin does Sophia hold? She did not willingly bear the blood of sinners."
The Homebody Witch spoke with some difficulty.
Her words were spoken through clenched teeth.
After all, even the highest-quality Martial Soul was powerless in the face of the divine might of the Witch King that was akin to the authority of heaven. Senior Fanny hadn’t even done anything; she merely cast a stern glance, and Dorothy had to exert all her strength to resist. The possession of her Martial Soul allowed her to barely maintain her stance, stopping her from collapsing to her knees.
But she was just that stubborn. Defiance was defiance, and even if Senior Fanny truly lost her temper and killed her today, she would still insist Sophia was innocent. When did one’s birth become a sin? That would be a preposterous notion under heaven.
Moreover, after living together for a month, although the two were still incompatible and not close, Dorothy could not believe that the Angel Witch could be the sort of person to crazily endanger the world. There had to be some misunderstanding.
Faced with this, Senior Fanny was somewhat speechless. Looking down at the resolute Homebody Witch below, she sighed and withdrew her pressure.
"Fine, you Dragon Witches are all damn blockheads. Do whatever you want; I won’t intervene."
She knew she couldn’t persuade this stubborn Master. If she didn’t yield, what else could she do? She surely couldn’t really kill her. If she did, she wouldn’t be able to go out and be a Merry Maker anymore. She’d be locked back in that small dark room, not to mention Teacher Euphilia would definitely seek her out for a fight to the death. Even the Witch King wouldn’t want to provoke a Peak Martial God who was prepared to die.
So, let it be. It had nothing to do with her anyway. Even if that Little Angel truly harbored malicious intentions, she couldn’t pose much of a threat in the short term. And in fifty years, she’d be dead anyway, so let Divinity and Demonic Nature worry about it then.
Hat Senior Sister chose to let it go.
"Thank you, Senior Sister. I knew you were the best. After all, you are..."
Seeing that Hat Senior Sister had finally relaxed her stance, Dorothy breathed a sigh of relief and immediately dropped any semblance of dignity as she began to flatter.
"Alright, Dorothy, even if you don’t disgust me with those words, I find them disgusting."
Hat Senior Sister rolled her eyes at the boot-licking Master but nonetheless reminded her,
"This is just me deciding not to get involved. It wasn’t my business in the first place. I just happened to see what was going on. But the Council of Sages has people specifically watching this Little Angel. If those guys discover this Fallen Angel incarnation, the Executioners of the Judgment Court won’t be as easy to talk to as I am."
...Hat Senior Sister’s reminder...
