?

Drifting down towards the ground, Lilith flashed her sharp, pearly white fangs at me in a smile before looking back up towards Lady Fenyras, who slid off of the carriage and stood before the older Demoness, giving her the respect she felt she deserved.

"There is a lot that has changed about me since we last met, Fenyras, and yet you are still the same arrogant pup that I pushed away constantly since back then... And it would seem that the blood I had allowed to run its course freely has committed firmly to its strengths, which is better than I could have hoped for."

Clasping her hands together and adopting a regal posture, Lilith swept her gaze over Jahi and Mom before returning it to me as she added "Don't mind the brazen idiot that much, dear. She barks a lot but rarely bites what isn't hers. Especially something that doesn't belong to her."

Lady Fenyras didn't even growl at that like she normally would have, though she showed off some of her fangs before turning away when Lilith looked back towards her, the Demoness daring her to do something so that she could go ahead and set her straight.

"Well, it took me a bit longer to get here than I had expected, but here I am. I'm sure you're all wondering why I called for you specifically to come here, and in due time that shall be explained. For now just understand that there are reasons for each of you specifically, and all of it is beneficial to everyone involved."

Lilith gave us a rather regulated and business answer to the question that was waiting on the tips of our tongues as we held back asking that of her right now, giving us a half answer for now and instead lowering herself onto a crate to sit nicely before us all as she brought the conversation around to something new.

"The Labyrinthian is a fascinating place, one that I have devoted many years to studying, and yet even I know so very little about it. But what I do know about... well, it is so very fascinating, and I found something I want to share.

For now though let us just relax and get to know one another, hm? We're going to be 'together' for a little while here if everything goes according to plan, and even longer if it doesn't. So! Seeing you all in person after my dear friend told me all about you is very nice. Exactly what I expected; even more than I was giving her credit for, to be honest."

Smiling gently at us all yet again, Lilith nodded and looked us up and down before she focused on Mom first as she asked "Did you know that I met your father many years ago? Did he ever tell you about that?", surprising the other Demoness a little as she shook her head.

"Typical... I don't know why I am surprised about the stubbornness that plagues all of my bloodlines being even thicker amongst this particular branch."

Her smile was wry now as she gave Mom a small shake of her head, her elegance and warmth being subverted for a moment by the gigantic stone blade getting laid down on the ground before her with a solid thud only for her to then grasp our attention again with her serene voice as she added "I really shouldn't be surprised considering who your other progenitor was..."

That sparked a little of all of our curiosity, and Lilith sensed that as she leaned back and said "Go on, ask your questions. No matter how strong I might be and how well equipped and trained you believe yourselves to be, traveling in groups at night inside the Labyrinthian is absolutely suicidal, so we have to wait anyways. Might as well get all of your questions out now, hm? Let's start with you, dear. Go on."

She turned towards me, and I paused for a moment before asking her "Did you really give birth to each of the three Demon Clans..? Not metaphorically like most books alluded to, but literally..?", earning a sly smile from the Demoness as she nodded.

"I've heard that the Asmodia Clan has been... reduced to merely three Demonesses in total, so I cannot say I'm surprised, especially because of how Durukti handled everything back then, that you - a Soul Bound slave to the next Heir of the Clan - are unaware of these things, but yes, I am the progenitor of all three Clans to a degree. My blood runs through their veins, but over generations it's thinned out quite a bit in acceptable areas. So don't worry, there is no... inbreeding happening amongst the modern Clans.

Now, as to the question that I knew follows this one up, yes, I did have three separate Demons and Demonesses as partners as I formed each Clan. Yes, I spent nearly a decade and a half pregnant with dozens of babies. No, I didn't actually love any of my partners; I just admired their genes and desired them for myself. Selective breeding works wonders so long as you are the one selecting..."

Despite the serenity exuded by this woman, her words were implying rather crude things now, though as I recalled that the times she lived in had only changed year over year I realized that old habits really do die hard, and three of the people I had met who had been alive from that long ago had all been straightforwards and honest about everything, almost to a fault.

"So yes, Chordeva, Jahi, I am - technically speaking - your great something grandmother by blood, but that blood is so thin now that there is little connecting the two of you to me. Your ancestors were darker than you, after all; mix sapphire blue with black and surprise, you get a deep oceanic blue, not lavender like the other Demoness that lives, or this rich yet bright sapphire the two of you share.

Same goes for the other Clans; they've all lightened up over the centuries, but that's fine. After all, times change, and the importance of color has faded quite a bit. Now, keep them coming~! I know the rest of you are burning with similar questions, and I have nothing to hide and time to spend~!"
