Chapter 46 Narrow escape

Fortunately for Xander, as he was making his way to the Manticore's territory he saw a lot of creatures and he used his mind scythe soul artifact to kill them.

The weapon wasn't very hard to use. It was similar to the Primordial chains but it was easier as he would have to split his focus to each chain if he wants to use individually.

Xander waved his hand and while spinning the scythe like a disk, the scythe moved so fast with a red trail behind it.

It sliced the head of the level 22 giant fly with ease.

"I've made significant progress with the mind scythe. All I can hope for now is that I won't have to go all out against the manticore." Xander was already getting scared and anxious.

'Don't worry Xander. I will be able to escape if my life is in danger.' He thought as he quickened his pace.

He could see Hannah's footprints on the sand and then he reached the opening at the end of the tunnel and he looked down to see the familiar labyrinth and he heard various kinds of sounds.

"Seems like more creatures have flooded this place." Xander said in observation.

Last time there was only the giant flies but now he could even see giant centipedes, grant kings and even a large serpent.

"All the creatures here are at least level 20." Xander said as he looked closer, "Now where is that girl?"

After looking for a while he finally saw her in the labyrinth walking through one of the multiple paths in the labyrinth.

There were twisted paths that led to dead ends and she was just walking towards the strange serpent.

"This girl. It's either she has a death wish or she's over confident." Xander mumbled as the armour extended from his neck and formed a helmet in his head.

The lines between each piece of metal on Xander's body began to glow red. Behind him, a thin tail extended from just above his butt and two wings formed out of the armour's back.

The transparent eyes shone a bright red and Xander felt more powerful now.

'I haven't tested it but I used to imagine flying so it shouldn't be hard.' Xander said as he jumped out of the tunnel, towards the labyrinth. A red trail followed him.

As Xander got close to the ground he immediately spread the wings and he flapped it hard. He immediately turned to face forward and he felt the urge to scream out of excitement.

But he doesn't dare get excited as he knew that noise could make his location knew to the manticore.

'This is amazing. It's almost like I know how to use it instinctively.' Xander thought with a smile, however his smile was hidden behind the helmet of the mask which looked intimidating.

'There she is. And she's about to cross paths with that snake.' Xander thought as he stretched his hand towards the snake below him.

Red disks like portals appeared beside him and he dived towards the snake.

Hannah has been walking around the labyrinth for twenty minutes now. After more than five other pathways tried she was stopped by a dead end or a monster.

'If what he said is true then I need to be as quiet as possible. I need to get back to the real world fast.' She thought as she followed the last path she had tried.

As she got close to a sharp turn she heard a rustling sound coming from there and she peeked, only to see a humanoid monster on top of a snake which has had its body wrapped in a tight chain.

The chains tightened until the body of the bursted and blood spurted out from the body. The chains then vanished into thin air.

As Xander turned around, Hannah hid back and her heart was beating very fast.

'A humanoid monster. And it had a spear, this is going to be harder than I thought.' She thought as she peeked again.

'Huh? Where did it go?'

She looked around and only saw the body of the snake there.

"Boo."

Hannah waved her Staff horizontally as she heard a spooky sound close to her ear. It sent a shock down her spine that she immediately raised her guard.

Xander had already moved back before she could even strike and he was standing one metre away from her with his arms crossed.

"Xander. You came–"

"Hold it. You must be crazy coming into the labyrinth." Xander said.

"I'm sorry but I'll probably choke of guilt if you die. So I'll take you back and explain to you."

Hannah immediately furrowed her brows, "I have my rights as a person. You can't take that from me."

"Darling, rights mean nothing in this world." Xander said with a grin but inside he was son angry at himself for coming here. 'She's practically begging to die so just leave her.' Even his conscience now supported leaving her here.

As he looked up again he didn't see her, looks like she made a run for it.

"So she likes to run." Xander said.

He activated his dragon king form and he flew upwards but not too high so that he can maintain his cover. The manticote wouldn't be able to see him and he'll be able to see the labyrinth clearly from that height.

Xander saw that she was stopped by a giant centipede. This one had a pitch black shell and it was about to attack Hannah.

The girl didn't use her powers. 'Looks like she does have want to attract the manticore.' Xander thought as he dived towards her.

As the sharp leg of the centipede reached Hannah's body a wind blew past and she didsappeared from her previous position.

The centipede growled as it looked at where Hannah was but didn't find anything.

The creature then looked around and saw Xander carrying her towards the tunnels again and the centipede screeched in anger.

"Shit." Xander mumbled as he hugged back Hannah who was hugging his neck and crossed her legs on his waist and she was shaking on his body.

Xander then heard a familiar roar. He looked back to see the manticore flying towards him while roaring.

'Shit.' Xander quickened his pace.

He immediately landed in the tunnels and immediately ran towards his makeshift camp which was more than seven hundred metres within the tunnel.

The manticore couldn't enter the tunnel as it's wings were too big to squeeze. It roared loudly as it opened it's mouth and a ball of flames flew towards Xander.

Xander jumped forward as he turned and he pointed his hand towards the flame and a ball of crimson red flames shot out of his hands. The explosion shook the cave and Xander escaped the manticore narrowly.
