Chapter 43 Dragon scale

As Xander placed his hand on the alter the red glow on it dimmed and then the ground began to shake.

*Ding!*

[You have triggered the third challenge]

"Wh... what?" Xander was shocked and confused at the same time.

It's been soon that he faced the last challenge and he has totally forgotten about it. Six challenges of the cave of serebus.

'How could I forget about it?'

Xander then brandished his spear and then he summoned the reaper and the cyclops that appeared beside him.

They didn't ask what was happening and immediately got into a stance, ready to defend their master at all costs.

Just then the rumbling stopped and everywhere calmed and quieted and Xander could hear the sound of running water from nearby from the holes in the ceiling to the river.

"What the hell just happened?" Xander mumbled and then a screen appeared in front of him and he moved to see it.

[You have passed the third challenge.]

[The third challenge was passed in advance by you as you killed the minotaur and claimed it's weapon.]

"Pfft... haha..." Xander laughed lowly as he finished reading what was on the screen before dismissing it.

"Thank goodness I didn't allow the manticore to kill it. I don't know what would've happened now." Xander said as he imagined another minotaur forming from sand.

'I don't know much about this caves so I'll play it safe from now on.' Xander thought as he moved toward the alter.

"Let me check it out first, master." Satan walked forward ahead of Xander and touched the alter a few times warily.

After confirming that it wasn't dangerous Xander walked forwards to the alter.

That's when Xander put his own hand and the alter opened like a door just like the previous one. He looked inside to see what was there.

Inside the well was a ring that was red in colour but had a metallic sheen. It had a small glowing golden pearl on it and Xander picked the ring anxiously to look at it closely.

*Ding!*

[The cursed armour 'Dragon scale' now belongs to you.]

'An armour!' Xander exclaimed in his mind as he wore the ring excitedly.

A thin metallic layer immediately covered him. It was like thin pieces of metal were arranging themselves to cover his body.

Then it spread to his head. There were little spikes going from atop his head all the way back and sropped just above his butt in a straight line.

And the spot for the ears were elongated slantly like an elf's and the see through glowing red eyes of the helmet look menacing. On his forehead was a little golden pearl which glowed brightly.

Xander's entire body was covered in this armour, leaving nowhere unprotected. It looked like little metal shards joined together wrapped his body.

*Ding!*

[The dragon scale is a very good companion. It can change it's form into all shapes and sizes and it provides heavy protection for the user.]

Seeing the second form of the armour Xander shrugged, "I'm not far from level 50 anyways. The second form must be powerful."

Xander smiled as he tried doing various acrobatic moves. He was even more nimble in the armour, or did his clothes tear beneath them?

"You look good master." Satan said with a smile as he looked at Xander with eyes filled with reverence.

'He's using every chance he gets to talk. Seems like he's very happy that he can talk again.' Xander thought with a smile.

He looked at the reaper that just looked at him back without saying anything and Xander sighed.

He couldn't see it smile since it had a skeleton skull so he didn't know it's facial expression at all."We are done here. Can you both swim?" Xander asked, pointing to the water.

The reaper and the cyclops looked at themselves before shaking their heads from side to side.

"And here I was thinking I wouldn't have to send you to the soul space again." Xander said as he waved his hand and they dissappeared in red flames back to his soul space.

He didn't deactivate the armour and looked around to the little holes in the walls where water was coming from.

'I got another idea.' Xander thought with a smile as he picked up stones and began blocking the holes one by one.

After thirty minutes he was done with blocking the holes and he looked around. Water was still coming from the holes but just drops. The river that took water to that cave where the water monster was began to reduce at a rapid rate.

Xander just walked and followed the water as it went into the hole beneath the river and went back to where he came from.

Xander reached the opening of the tunnel. The ground was quite slippery as algae and other micro organisms were on the floor.

The boots of the armour had spikes beneath which Xander imagined as he almost slipped a while back.

He looked into the open space and saw the man eating water at peace and Xander climbed down slowly so as to not touch the water.

As Xander was about to leave the area he looked back at the water with a grin on his face.

"How could I forget?" Xander said as he pointed his palm towards the river and a stream of bright crumson red colored flames erupted out of his palms and started burning the water.

Steam filled the entire cave as the water evaporated. Xander had a maniac smile on his face as he evaporated the water.

'Rhe Primordial flames sure is powerful.' Xander thought as he saw that the flame evaporated the water upon contact.

Xander had a smile while the water was turning to steam slowly. After another two minutes of burning the water Xander got a notification.
