Chapter 39 Ascension; Demon progenietor

Xander jumped out the way as a scythe came down and stabbed the floor where he stood before.

He backed away and looked at the reaper in it's fiery green eyes and charged towards it while brandishing his spear.

The reaper ran towards the human in front of it while spinning it's scythe madly. It's bones making a clacking sound as it ran to him.

Xander smiled and matched it's moves by spinning his own spear as he charged towards the reaper.

'The spinning technique is not that easy, I had to learn this on my own. There are different ways to use the spinning form for offense and defence.'

Xander blocked the reaper's scythe, hitting it sideways and sweeping at it's feet.

The reaper was quick as it jumped backwards and avoided Xander's attack at the last moment.

"That's right. I know how to fight too." Xander charged towards the reaper while spinning his spear.

As he got into range he jumped up towards the reaper while spinning the spear before he waved it downwards with all his strength.

The reaper spun it's scythe and spun it's body too before swinging the scythe upwards. It clashed with Xander's spear and the ground beneath the reaper's legs cracked.

The reaper immediately directed the force away by twisting the scythe, releasing it from the contact of Xander's spear.

Xander spun his spear so fast and hit the scythe away from the reaper's hands. He had so many strength and speed points now, the reaper was not on his level at all.

He continued attacking the reaper, pushing it back, cornering it, he was in control of this battle. The reaper could only dodge as it was pushed back into a corner.

Xander used his spear with all the force he could gather to strike the chest of the reaper. The sound of glass breaking resounded as well as the crunching sound of bones as Xander's spear destroyed the skeleton's chest.

The green flame in its eyes dimmed until it dissapeared completely. The reaper's body... or should I say bones, turned into dust and dispersed into the air as it died at the hands of a human.

Xander let out a sigh of relief as he waited for the sweet, notification sound reach his ears.

"Woah... I got another skill." Xander got excited as he summoned his skill box.

He excitedly clicked the new skill as he stabbed the bottom of his spear into the ground.

[Skill description: The reaper is known as one of the most dangerous creatures on the island of lost hope. You can summon it's spirit to fight for you at the cost of your own Mana.]

Xander's face dulled as he saw how costly the new skill he got was and how small the time was. He would only be able to activate it once.

"Looks like I now know which stat to put most of my stat points in." Xander said as he brought up his status screen first.

He also wanted to distribute his stat points before but he was already strong at that time.

Xander then began distributing his stat points, focusing on Mana and Agility the most. Strength mattered in a battle but to be fast and nimble, to be able to dodge fatal or sudden attacks was important as well.

Once Xander was satisfied with his new stats he calmed down on the stats. He noticed that the mist was coming from far within the tunnels and he has never really gone far in when the reaper attacked him.

"There must be something special here for the reaper to block me from passing?" He said as he walked deeper into the caves blindly.

"Weird." Xander mumbled as he couldn't use his magic flames at all. He tried to use the system to activate it and it didn't work either.

"Looks like I'll have to go in blindly." Xander continued forward.

While he walked he was also looking at his skills. It has been so long that Xander upgraded his Revive and enslave skill so he assigned one skill point to super body and also one skill point to reaper's spirit.

"Let me also upgrade this one." He said as he tapped Revive and enslave and added two points to it.

*Ding!*

The arcana possesses the merged powers of a demonmancer and a necromancer. Giving you the power to create and recreate demons, making you the progenietor of demons as demons are extinct.]

-Upgrade skills 'Revive and enslave' and 'Primordial bind' to level 15.

-Kill three enemies at a higher level than you (3/3)

-Reach level 45.

-Mana higher than 1000. ]

Xander could only stop in his steps and stare at the system screen with mixed feelings. Why would this world even limit his power?

'Arcanas sure are powerful. It would've been nice to be OP since the beginning.' Xander thought as he clicked yes.

Thinking that it would just be a wave of energy that would wash over him Xander relaxed, however he immediately felt the worst pain he has ever felt in his life.

He fell to the floor as he felt as if thousands of needles were pricking his skin. His bones cracked and reformed and he felt a splitting pain in his head.

"AHHHHHHH!!" Xander shouted as his previously blue eyes turned red before glowing in the said color brightly.

Xander then passed out cold on the floor and his body continued it's evolution.

After more than three hours Xander finally woke up, his red pupils like dazzling crystals.
