Chapter 32 Second Challenge

Chapter 32 Second Challenge

Seeing the system announcement Xander wanted to cry at this point. Although he thought he was lucky he was starting do doubt his luck.

Why? Why does he keep encountering dangerous things?

'I tried my best not to touch anything!!' Xander exclaimed inwardly as he turned to Harry who was looking at him with a confused expression.

"Harry, something is about to happen and I think you should stay directly close to the wall." Xander said, realizing that they were in the middle of the tunnel, between the two side walls and they were vulnerable to anything.

"No." Harry answerednsharply. "Seeing your expression something serious is about to happen. I've always told you to count on me and don't face problems alone." Harry was angry.

That's one of the things Harry didn't like about Xander. Harry is open and doesn't like keeping things within himself but Xander was the complete opposite. He likes to face his problems by himself and doing things his own way and he doesn't like bothering people.

At least that's what he thinks but he just makes Harry worry for him the more.

"It's just..."

Xander didn't want to let Harry face his problem with him. He was assured that he would be able to pass it but he'll be near death, like the last time.

Although he almost died in the first challenge, he has a good weapon now. He looked at Harry and saw an angry expression and he sighed in defeat.

"Fine." Xander gave up on persuading Harry to run away.

Xander then drew his spider sword out and got ready for what was to come. Harry copied his friend and drew both of his swords which were on his waist.

"What exactly is happening?" Harry whispered, staying alert as the cretures of the tunnels are terrifying.

"A challenge."

As Xander said that, a loud shrieking sound reverberated all through the cave, making some weaker monsters cower in fear as they took off for their hide outs.

Xander and Harry tensed up as they heard a buzzing sound becoming louder and louder. From the sound alone, they could tell that whatever was coming was big.

Xander conjured a ball of blue flames in his hand and shot it forward into the darkness and just then, a small explosion occurred and Xander saw the face of the abomination that was coming towards him.

It was over seven metres tall. It was a large, fat fly that couldn't flap it's large wings because of the small space but it's legs were really fast.

It had four tentacle-like arms, the tips as sharp as swords. It's mouth had a black, slimy, disgusting substance dripping out of it.

"Another bug?" Xander was shocked and angry.

He couldn't help but think that this cave only had bug monsters, which is good as he could double his exp gain but it's tiring sometimes.

"Level 23 Boss: obese fly." Harry said and Xander looked at him with a shocked expression.

"You can see it's status."

"No, just it's name and level." Harry lookednat Xander. "Let's go." Harry dashed towards the giant fly with a smile on his face which made Xander worry.

'He's starting to like fighting too much.' Xander thought and dashed at the creature too with his sword brandished.

Seeing the two low level beings coming towards it the fly raised it's giant tentacles which had blades at the end and started lashing frenziedly.

The caves shook as the sound something big collided with the walls.

Each of the tentacles were fifty centimeters in diameter and the skin was black and tough, like the rest of it's body.

Xander and Harry were still dodging the creature's tentacles. Anytime they move close a tentacle will curve upwards and a blade will follow, threatening to cut their face in two from their jaw.

This has been going on for over two minutes and they still didn't find an opening to counter attack.

"I'm gonna create a distraction." Xander said as he jumped back due to much strength points Xander jumped over twenty metres backwards.

He raised his left hand and a huge blue fire ball appeared above his hand and he threw it towards the monster that was just fifty metres away now.

The creature, seeing a bright light coming towards it raised it's tentacles. A bright explosion occurred upon contact with the tentacles, making Xander close his eyes.

But with this small time of blindness he did what he wanted to do.

As the light died down Xander looked at the creature's tentacles in shock. The fire didn't even manage to wound it and only black dust appeared.

The creature shrieked angrily as it's 8 small legs began carrying it towards Xander in rage. However, the creature failed to see something.

Four red chains fell over the fly and with a twisting motion, the chains wrapped the fly and it's tentacles together.

Harry had already moved when Xander casted his magic fire and now he was on top of the fly. He raised his sword and stabbed the creature's head with both of his hand on his sword's hilt.

*Clank!*

The sound of metal clashing against metal resounded and reached Xander's ears, showing him how tough the creature's shell is.

Xander was holding the creature in place. When it felt something tickle it from above it became agitated and struggled harder to get out of the chains.

"Come... on... Harry. Arghhh." Xander grunted as he felt his internal organs squeezing.

Mana was still a mystery to him but he was able to control it thanks to the training session he recieved when he activated his skill for the first time.

...

"Grrrrr..."

Harry was trying his best to push his sword through the armour, he climbed down and checked around the giant fly for any soft spots but he didn't find any.

"Xander! This thing doesn't have a soft spot!" He shouted, his heart was beating fast, this time, not eith excitement, but fear for his life.

If they can't kill the creature then they're dead.

He didn't get a reply from Xander and he knew that Xander gave up on hope as the chains binding the fly shattered apart and all hell broke lose.
