"Join my guild, or let's form an alliance between Vensalor and Shadow Wolves," Leon repeated his offer, his tone steady.
Shadow Wolves had a bad reputation in the Vensalor Kingdom. Their past alliance with demons had nearly brought ruin to the entire kingdom. But if they were under Broken's control, it would be easier to monitor their actions-and if they found a common goal, maybe, just maybe, they could start redeeming their name.
Their former allies in the kingdom had already been defeated, so it was unclear whether Shadow Wolves still shared their previous objectives. But at the very least, during the last great war, both Shadow Wolves and Horde of Hell had fought alongside Broken's forces against the demons and Focalor, the Named Demon.
Without their help, the war wouldn't have ended so cleanly. Or maybe... it wouldn't have been won at all.
Especially when Galactron and Frostedge had joined forces with him to hold off Focalor and buy time for the battle.
Olivia chuckled, tilting her head slightly. "You're getting bold, just because we fought side by side temporarily, huh?"
Leon smirked. "You were betrayed by your allies. Why not rebuild under a new alliance?"
Olivia sighed and shook her head. "I can't... Leon."
"Why?"
She hesitated for a moment, then looked him straight in the eye. "Do you even know why I play Immortal Legacy?"
Leon blinked. "Wealth? Popularity? No... I don't know."
Olivia smiled slightly before turning the question back on him. "Then what about you? Why do you play Immortal Legacy?"
Leon paused, thinking for a moment before answering. "At first, I played just for fun-to make use of my free one-hour time and because I had a capsule device. But then... things changed. Now, I have a different goal. More like... I want to grow stronger and uncover the mysteries of the game."
Olivia's smile widened as she listened. "Me too..."
"Then we have the same goal."
"No... unfortunately, I am a Gluttony Champion." She sighed, leaning back slightly. "Us, Gluttony Champions... our blessings are deeply tied to demons. The original holder of this blessing was the strongest demon in Hell."
Leon frowned. "But you fought against them in the last war."
"Yes..." she answered. "But my quest... my quest is to ascend to an even higher level..."
"Does that go against my potential path?"
"More like..." she hesitated. "The path I'm on won't fully align with your position in the kingdom."
"Does that mean you and your quest still pose a threat to the authority of the kingdom?" Olivia sighed. "Calm your nerves..." she said softly.
"Sorry..."
"No... more like... the kingdom will never fully accept us. We're a group too deeply connected to demons."
Leon nodded slowly. "I understand... or at least, I'm trying to understand."
Olivia chuckled lightly, her expression returning to its usual calm. "Don't worry... I won't interfere with your happiness with your cute and beautiful wife."
Leon smirked. "Good. Because I wouldn't hesitate to fight you if you did."
"You really don't hold back, huh?" she said, amused. "Even when I'm sitting right in front of you."
The conversation gradually relaxed again, but Leon noticed how his own body had tensed up the moment Olivia started talking about demons and everything tied to them.
Then, Olivia spoke again. "I have a major quest ahead of me... one that I need to complete in order to acquire a Legendary-grade class."
"I'm willing to help if you want me to," Leon offered.
She gave him a playful look. "You sure do care a lot about me, huh... Are you starting to fall for me?" she teased, giggling.
Leon smirked. "You called me here, talked to me, and became my friend. I'm just doing my best as one, too."
Olivia nodded slowly, as if concluding their discussion. "When the time comes... I'll tell you more about it."
"Sure. Anytime."
They continued chatting about casual things, mostly The Eternal Challenge, before naturally shifting into playful banter about Broken's recent performance- and how it had stirred up so much controversy among other players.
"You even managed to piss off Heejin's fans, huh?" Olivia smirked.
Leon sighed. "You're bringing this up too?"
"I'm just saying... your life will never be peaceful again. You have no idea how brutal the die- hard fans of a famous artist like her can be. By now, your social media accounts are probably flooded with harassment-maybe even death threats."
Leon suddenly remembered that he had uninstalled his social media apps earlier. And sure enough, Olivia was right-he had seen an absurd number of notifications piling up right after the incident earlier that afternoon.
"You are... absolutely right."
"I have a solution for you," Olivia said with a teasing glint in her eyes.
Leon narrowed his gaze at her. "Why do I feel like I should be suspicious?"
Olivia giggled at his reaction. "What's with that look? I'm serious... Trust me more-we're
friends, aren't we?"
"Alright, let's hear it."
"Well, if people think you're trying to get close to Heejin, the solution is simple..." She leaned forward slightly. "Just go out with me publicly. Introduce
as your girlfriend... or
yet,
your fiancée."
Leon blinked. "...What?"
"I wouldn't mind pretending, you know-just to help you out, my dear friend." She gave a playful smirk. "I'd even let you kiss my hand once in public-to really sell the act."
Leon chuckled, shaking his head. "That's... actually a pretty smart idea, Olivia. Exactly what I'd expect from someone like you."
"See..." Olivia chuckled softly. "This is a once-in-a-lifetime offer, you know. Next time, I might actually ask for something in return for doing this."
"But..." Leon smirked. "I'd be more interested if this wasn't just acting. I mean, why pretend when we could just try for real?"
Olivia's lips curled into a sly smile. "Now you're trapping me." She leaned back slightly before adding, "But, I suppose... you're not that bad either. So, while we act, I'll give you the chance to admire me more. Who knows? Maybe you'll win my heart, and we'll fall for each other for
real."
Leon laughed at that, shaking his head. What kind of conversation was this? Olivia was impossible to read. You could never take her words at face value-she was too smart, too
calculated.
She wasn't the type of person you could understand just by listening to what she said.
"What?" she asked, tilting her head.
"It's just funny."
"Me?"
"No, your offer."
Olivia sighed dramatically. "I'm serious... You still don't trust me."
Leon smirked. "I try. But you don't even trust me enough to join my guild. So next time, let's
talk seriously—after you're in Vensalor."
After that, they decided to call it a night. It was already late, and both of them had things to
do tomorrow.
Walking side by side, they headed toward the elevator, and since Olivia's room was on the same floor as Leon's, they stepped in together.
The conversation remained light and easy, flowing as naturally as it had all night. That was
the thing about Olivia-she was incredibly smart, not just in the way she spoke, but in how she controlled the mood of a conversation. She could match Leon's energy effortlessly, keeping things engaging despite his naturally reserved nature.
She always knew exactly what to say, making it feel smooth and effortless-as if their conversation could just keep going forever.
Then, just as the elevator doors slid open, Olivia suddenly grabbed Leon's wrist, gently
turning him to face her.
"Let's talk more. I want to spend more time getting to know you." Her voice was soft but firm.
Leon held her gaze for a second before replying, "Tomorrow. At the gym."
Olivia smirked. "Sure. I'll crush you brutally again. See you."
Leon smiled slightly and turned toward the open doors-
But then, in a sudden movement, Olivia leaned in.
Her face came dangerously close.
And then-
Olivia...
Her lips-
Did she just kiss him?
No-not quite. From a distance, it would have looked exactly like a kiss on the lips, though in reality, her lips
barely brushed the side of his cheek.
It was so brief, so quick, that by the time Leon processed what had just happened, Olivia had
already pulled back, a soft, knowing smile playing on her lips.
Before he could even react, the elevator doors began to close.
Leon turned sharply, catching the doors before they could shut completely.
And then-
His eyes locked onto someone outside.
A figure.
A girl.
She was walking away quickly, her steps hurried, as if she had just seen something she wasn't
supposed to.
Leon stepped out of the elevator, Olivia following closely behind.
His gaze fixed on the girl's retreating figure.
Blonde. Wavy hair.
And in that moment, Leon immediately recognized her.
