Chapter 253 246 supply ship

Chapter 253 246 supply ship

On the outskirts of Bupinga Star space, Teizene business representative Ji Meilas still rubbed his chin with a hint of resentment; he had recently been defeated by a man of the Primate Clan. For the proud and bellicose Teizene, this was an utter and disgraceful humiliation.

That his subordinates had been overpowered by Star Warriors was somewhat forgivable, but his opponent was just a seemingly frail Primate Clan man, lacking the Teizene's sharp teeth and claws, thick scales, and robust muscles. Yet, he had effortlessly defeated Ji Meilas, which was unforgivable.

Truth be told, Ji Meilas wasn't one of the strongest Teizene individuals. Born in a decent family, he had undergone some combat training and had even served in the military, devouring enemies on the battlefield—a deed almost every Teizene soldier had done. But now, his main role was that of a business representative for the Teizene, not a soldier engaged in combat. Ji Meilas had grown somewhat rusty in martial arts.

Looking out the porthole at the universe, Ji Meilas asked a subordinate, "Have we not got a lead on the whereabouts of that bastard from the Eagle Shield Civilization?"

The subordinate replied, "In truth, they only had one ship resembling a Main Battle Ship. After their trade envoy left, the warship had already departed, and we lack the means to track them."

Ji Meilas angrily shoved his subordinate, but he was also helpless. He knew well that to get the other party's whereabouts, a lot of detection equipment would be necessary—something the Bupinga people definitely had. However, if Ji Meilas were to ask the Bupinga for the Eagle Shield Civilization's whereabouts, they might not provide it, considering their policy to protect the confidentiality of every client.

And even if Bupinga merchants were to have no scruples and agreed to sell the information, Ji Meilas lacked the funds to buy it. The Teizene civilization's treasury could not afford the personal desires of one man. If Ji Meilas were to be found out by the commercial department of Teizene, he might be torn to pieces on the spot.

Ji Meilas said bitterly, "Prepare a report, we must inform the Great Emperor about the Eagle Shield Civilization. They're very unfriendly towards us, and should we encounter them in the future, they must be killed and devoured!"

The somewhat more rational subordinate, looking at his ferocious-faced superior, understood all too well that this was Ji Meilas's attempt at a personal vendetta. He cynically thought to himself that the Teizene Civilization was unfriendly to any civilization that was inferior to its own. The civilizations in the Galaxy that were unfriendly to the Teizene... Well, nearly all civilizations were unfriendly to them, including Teizene's two major allies.

The dutiful subordinate reminded his superior, "This Eagle Shield Civilization is mysterious and probably not from the surrounding Star Regions. If they traveled a great distance to reach here, it suggests their technology might be advanced, and their civilization level possibly exceeds ours. Provoking such an enemy without cause might be perilous..."

Ji Meilas, enraged, shoved his subordinate away again, exclaiming, "Idiot, what nonsense are you spouting? Shall the insult to the Teizene be dismissed just like that? To hell with higher-level civilizations, those Eagle Shield people are at best twelfth or thirteenth level in terms of civilization. We, the Teizene Empire, have a vast Fleet, and they shall inevitably be defeated by us!"

After venting his anger for a while, Ji Meilas had no choice but to set aside his feelings and arrange for the fleet's return voyage. Although there had been some setbacks and loss of face this time, he had successfully completed his work, having traded for a large quantity of materials for the Teizene Civilization's historic upcoming expedition.

As of yesterday, Ji Meilas had received a message from the mother planet—the military department of the Teizene Empire had ordered him to convert the trade fleet into a supply convoy and send it 300 light-years away to the Blue Lantern star domain. There, Ji Meilas was to resupply the Teizene Empire's Expeditionary Fleet.

The Teizene Expeditionary Fleet had set off somewhat hastily; many supplies had not been fully accounted for, and the Teizene were not known for their meticulousness, with even the ammunition of some warships incomplete. But that wasn't a grave concern, Teizene thrived on warfare. Upon reaching the Blue Lantern star domain, the Teizene Expeditionary Fleet would attack the several civilizations in the vicinity. These were all lower-level civilizations from which the Teizene Fleet could plunder enough goods, possibly even replenishing their weapons.

Even someone as brash as Ji Meilas was apprehensive about the expedition. The Teizene Expeditionary Fleet's mission, crossing thousands of light-years to attack Earth civilization within the Danlu Interstellar Cloud, was stretched so thinly it was daunting. The Teizene planned to rest and reorganize three times en route, and to build transfer bases along the way for storing supplies and mustering troops.

This operation was a significant risk for the Teizene. For the first two breaks, they managed to grasp the specific situations of the Star Regions—both without particularly strong enemies, and some targets were ripe for the taking.

The entire expedition was a challenge to the organizational abilities of the Teizene Civilization. The Great Emperor of Teizene placed great importance on this expedition and did not hesitate to sell some less significant planets to acquire war resources.

Ji Meilas's eyes gleamed with fervor, "As long as we can seize the Danlu Interstellar Cloud, Teizene Civilization need not fear those high-level civilizations anymore. Those so-called higher civilizations are too arrogant, while they do not seek to annihilate our civilization as a whole, they tend to destroy our fleets on sight, along with those meddling birdfolk restraining our development. Owning the Danlu Interstellar Cloud as a secure rear, Teizene can continue to develop uninterrupted until we too become a high-level civilization!"

At this moment, the tactless subordinate spoke up again, "Commander, the military has reminded us to be on our guard. The military is currently rather stretched thin, and this time they have only provided us with four Escort Ships for our escort—without a single Cruiser."

Ji Meilas snorted, "Are you an imbecile? In the nearby Star Regions, none of the civilizations would dare lay a finger on us. Do they have a death wish? As soon as they make a move, we would extinguish their civilization's flame immediately afterward."

The subordinate had no complaints about the dictatorial Ji Meilas; after all, that was just typical Teizene behavior. He also felt that Ji Meilas's words made sense. Among the surrounding three Star Regions, while the Teizene were not the highest civilization level, they were the most troublesome opponent; they practically strutted across these Star Regions, only stepping aside for high-level civilizations.

However, what Ji Meilas never considered was the possibility that those with designs on them might not hail from nearby Star Regions at all.
