Chapter 250 243 slaves

Chapter 250 243 slaves

The Gao Tian people, Bibilin among them, boarded a spaceship with trepidation, lined up with their companions. Unlike the destiny of the female Feiju people who had been lined up before them, which was almost certain, the fate that awaited them was an unknown.

Located in the Box Star Territory, the Gao Tian people had survived for tens of thousands of years on their planet before being conquered by the Teizene. Although the Gao Tian civilization was not highly ranked, it was nevertheless considered a Level 9 civilization, having mastered phase jump technology and barely touched the threshold of warp speed flight. But against the Teizene, such technological levels were insignificant. The Gao Tian people, being somewhat timid, chose to surrender instead of resist when faced with a massive encirclement of their planet by Teizene warships.

Thus, the Gao Tian civilization became a vassal civilization to the Teizene, and furthermore, the Gao Tian people were regularly levied with a "Provisions Tax" by the Teizene and provided them with a large number of products. As for combat, the Teizene looked down upon the combat capabilities of the Gao Tian people, so they never used them as soldiers.

The Gao Tian people were a rather special species of intelligent beings; unlike most intelligent races in the universe that walked bipedally, the Gao Tian people were multi-legged and not of the insect variety. The bodies of the Gao Tian people were broad, resembling an olive in shape, but their skin was not hard; it was easily wounded by sharp objects like that of the Primate Clan. Gao Tian people had varying numbers of limbs, which they were born without but grew as they aged. These limbs were exceptionally flexible, with a rich nervous system. Capable of certain deformations, the limbs' ends could bend flat for use as feet for walking; whereas their ends could also grow up to 18 small limbs for use as hands, manufacturing tools. Most peculiar was that upon reaching sexual maturity, one of their limbs would mutate to become their reproductive organ, achieving the purpose of mating.

Both the brain and heart of the Gao Tian people resided within the enormous, olive-shaped body, while their auditory, olfactory, tactile, and gustatory organs were on their limbs, with each limb possessing them. Even feeding was done through these limbs. Although Gao Tian people could discard their limbs, in their aesthetic values, a Gao Tian with more limbs was considered more beautiful.

Upon falling into the hands of the Teizene civilization, because their limbs were regenerative, the Teizene people continually cut off the limbs of the Gao Tian people to use as food. It seemed that due to their structure, these limbs were particularly tasty.

Even the Gao Tian who were being sold as slaves only had four limbs remaining at this point, making them resemble a long-legged rugby ball. Read latest chapters at My Virtual Library Empire

The small ship carrying Bibilin and his unfortunate companions docked with a large spacecraft, which was boarded by several individuals of the Primate Clan who seemed to belong to a highly advanced civilization.

Traders from the Shado Civilization, who had purchased Bibilin and his group, were extremely respectful in the presence of these Primate Clan individuals, not because the ones proclaiming themselves the Eagle Shield Civilization had paid them a service fee, but because the Shado quickly realized the Eagle Shield Civilization was much higher in rank than their own. Bowing to a more advanced civilization was the way of survival for all lower-ranked civilizations.

Bibilin heard a Shado with pale green skin eagerly speaking in the Bupinga language to the Primate Clan, "Sirs, serving your distinguished civilization is an honor for us. We'd be grateful to waive the service fee, and if possible, we'd be deeply thankful if you could leave us a communication channel."

The leading Primate Clan seemed to consider for a moment before saying, "We will pay the intermediary fee as agreed, and you can give me your contact information. I'll seek you out again if necessary."

"Of course, Sir, thank you!" exclaimed the traders from the Shado Civilization.

Bai Zhongqi shooed away the Shado and glanced at the slaves that had been brought aboard the Sacred Falcon. This batch was already the second one the Shado had delivered; the majority of the first batch were females from the Feiju Star, whose presence had caused quite a stir among the crew of the Sacred Falcon.

Bai Zhongqi had altogether rescued just over three thousand Teizene slaves from six different species, with the people of Feiju Star making up about one third, perhaps because even the Teizene's Lizard People knew that the Feiju Star people were good merchandise.

Among the six species, three were not of the Primate Clan; aside from the Gao Tian people, there were also the Dwarf Goblins who were as tall as the knees of an Earthling, and the Horse-faced People. The Dwarf Goblins were an intelligent species discovered by the Teizene on a desert planet similar to their homeworld, Teizene Star, a few hundred years ago; though referring to them as intelligent might be somewhat generous. These unsightly creatures, which bore some resemblance to goblins depicted in human fantasy works, had a high degree of sociality but were tricky and feral; they bullied the weak and feared the strong and were not highly intelligent. They could cooperate on complex labor tasks but found higher levels of education hard to attain.

The Horse-faced People, as their name suggests, had faces like horses and skin with short fur similar to that of a horse, but apart from that, they were more akin to the Primate Clan. Of course, the Horse-faced People would not have originally been called this, but after the Teizene conquered their planet, they arbitrarily named them so. The limbs of the Horse-faced People were different from those of the Primate Clan, having reverse joints and retaining some traces of evolution from ancient horses. These Horse-faced People were quite intelligent, but they were sentimental and very easily moved or melancholic.

At this moment, Bai Zhongqi observed the three distinct species. The Gao Tian were trembling and, as soon as they stopped moving, retracted their limbs into their bodies like snails. The Dwarf Goblins showed no sense of urgency – if it weren't for the shackles, they probably would be scampering around mischievously; their expressions were defiant, as if they were even taunting their new masters. The Horse-faced People, meanwhile, were crying and wailing; some even started to sing sorrowful songs.

Contending with two big headaches, Bai Zhongqi felt that communicating with alien Primate Clans was generally manageable, even with the Bupinga. However, these lower-civilization species that were not of the Primate Clan seemed difficult to communicate with.

But Bai Zhongqi could not give up. Liberating these slaves was partly a humanitarian act, and partly because he intended to gather more information about the Teizene through them. Of course, if any of them proved capable, Bai Zhongqi did not mind allowing them to serve the Star Alliance and grant them full Star Alliance citizenship.

"Alright, Lieutenant Colonel Chi Jia, I have a task for you. Gather these aliens and bring them to the great hall of our ship; I want to have a talk with them."

Looking at the cargo of aliens, Chi Jia also began to feel overwhelmed.
