Chapter 247 240 Contact Teizene (Part 2)

Chancellor His Majesty broke out in a sudden sweat as his girlfriend, Ms. Han Jiaxue, stood behind him. He Qiu, lacking any sense of the situation, actually recommended a cat-girl slave here. Bai Zhongqi would definitely never admit to having any interest in these fantasy races from Earth.

Bai Zhongqi covered his mouth with his fist, coughed dryly, and said, "Alright, you go help us gather information, figure out the scale of the Teizene's slave trade, what races are involved, and if any have received Interstellar Civilization education or possess certain high-level skills."

He Qiu happily accepted the order and left. Bai Zhongqi turned around and with a sly, teasing look in his eyes, looked at the Chancellor and said, "Your Majesty, are you really not going to try a Feiju Star person? They really do sound quite appealing."

Bai Zhongqi found this sister, who liked to cause trouble after gaining a soul, quite baffling. He waved his hand and said, "We're talking serious matters here. These slaves from the Teizene civilization, being in closest contact with the Teizenes, if we can rescue them, we could at least learn more about the Teizenes."

Han Jiaxue still found it hard to believe that in a universe so advanced in technology and civilization, slavery was still widely prevalent. She said, "If possible, we should rescue more slaves; perhaps they possess talents in different areas that could serve the Star Alliance."

Ling, however, spoke very directly, "The Teizenes wouldn't put slaves up for sale who are truly very skilled or talented. Even as slaves, they would keep such talents in their hands. Those who are thrown out are mostly those they find bad-tasting or like the Feiju people, used as slaves for various purposes."

Han Jiaxue couldn't bear it, "But they are all living, breathing lives."

Bai Zhongqi took Han Jiaxue's hand and said, "We won't just stand by. The Cannibalistic Civilization will eventually be eradicated by us, and the enslaved and frightened people will eventually be freed."

Han Jiaxue looked at Bai Zhongqi taking such a huge burden on his shoulders and felt a bit heartbroken, consoling him, "Don't push yourself too hard, what you've done already is plenty and very good."

More than an hour later, Bai Zhongqi received a message from He Qiu that a representative of the Teizene civilization's trading group wanted to meet with Bai Zhongqi to discuss the details of buying slaves.

Han Jiaxue was slightly worried and asked, "Is it safe to just go and talk to them like this?"

Bai Zhongqi said, "This is actually a good opportunity. We have never really come into close contact with the Teizenes. It's a good chance to understand our enemy."

Ling also told Han Jiaxue, "Miss Han, please rest assured, I will always be by the Chancellor's side, and no one can threaten His Majesty. Moreover, this is Bupinga Star, and the Bupinga people will not allow the Teizenes to misbehave on their turf."

Han Jiaxue knew Bai Zhongqi would never pass up such an opportunity, so she could only hug Bai Zhongqi to show her encouragement.

Bai Zhongqi left the hotel, and He Qiu was already waiting outside in a luxury car. Bai Zhongqi, accompanied by Ling, got into the car and sat in the spacious back seats.

He Qiu bowed to Bai Zhongqi, then said, "Boss, the Teizen group is currently at the Resort No.6 casino enjoying themselves. They have requested to hold the negotiations there."

Bai Zhongqi slightly furrowed his brows. Thinking that his boss was displeased, He Qiu quickly explained, "That's just how the Teizene people are. Different civilizations have different business customs. Many civilizations prefer a straightforward approach, even unwilling to meet face-to-face, choosing instead to agree on the procedures and price and then processing everything on a trading platform. However, some civilizations prefer face-to-face meetings and also value interactions outside of business. The Teizene people are mainly pleasure-seekers. Whenever their trading group visits Bupinga Star, they spend most of their time in resorts like this, savoring fine wines, watching shows, and indulging in their favorite activity—gambling."

In commercially developed areas, the service and entertainment industries inevitably thrive. To cater to guests from different civilizations, Bupinga has constructed numerous facilities like resorts, high-end hotels, casinos, and gourmet cities across the entire asteroid. Bupinga even built a city exclusively composed of restaurants, offering dishes from hundreds of different civilizations. Nearly all visitors to Bupinga can find their desired cuisine in this gourmet city.

After arriving at Resort No.6, Bai Zhongqi and He Qiu headed straight to the casino area. Indeed, calling it a 'resort town' would be more apt. Covering an area of over 5000 acres, the casino alone was as large as a university campus on Earth. With various projects and venues, thousands of gamblers were spending fortunes here, and Bai Zhongqi never doubted the profitability of this place.

A Bupinga waiter led Bai Zhongqi and others to a private booth in the casino where a Teizene individual sat at a table, surrounded by several of his subordinates.

The moment Bai Zhongqi saw the Teizene, he felt a slight tension. The Teizene indeed had the appearance of bipedal lizards, but many traits of reptiles were still visible, such as their legs, which unlike humans, were not positioned directly under the torso but were connected from the sides of the pelvis. These intelligent beings, covered in scaly armor, gave off a somewhat chilling vibe, especially when Bai Zhongqi saw their lizard heads expressing highly anthropomorphic emotions, which was somewhat unnerving. The Lizard Man opened his mouth, seemingly in a smile, and said in Teizene, "Welcome our guests, please have a seat."

Bai Zhongqi nodded casually and sat across from the leading Teizene.

The Lizard Man continued smiling, "Now that we're at the table, why not play a round?"

Bai Zhongqi was calculating how to handle this situation. He could claim that he didn't know how to play this alien card game, but that might divert this confrontation from the direction he intended from the start. Without saying much, Bai Zhongqi simply asked, "How do you play?"

The game on the table, called "Crystal Cards," was a very common gambling method in the Galaxy. Its rules were simple. The Crystal Cards were circular in shape and looked like clear crystals, but when held in hand, only the side a player was looking at would show a pattern, while the other side remained crystal clear.

Thirty cards split into three sets could be arranged in different combinations that formed certain card faces. If a player's card face surpassed that of the opponent, they were considered the winner. Since the patterns on Crystal Cards held special meanings, the combinations could yield highly interesting outcomes. Players had to continuously draw or discard cards from the deck, and within five rounds, form the required card face. Depending on the card face, the opponent might have to pay a different multiplier.

It did not take long for Bai Zhongqi to understand the rules of this game.

Then, Bai Zhongqi said to the waiter nearby, "Exchange for 10,000 Pulun in chips."
