Chapter 228: Gods And Graves Part Two

Chapter 228: Gods And Graves Part Two

Akun then redirected his gaze at Leandor as he called out to him. "Leandor!" But the unconscious Leandor didn’t answer, prompting Akun to call out to him in a slightly higher note. "Leandor!"

Akun’s voice jolted Leandor awake, and he instantly replied, "Yes, my liege!"

Akun then let out a sigh. He then proceeded to ask Leandor, "You said you completely obliterated the knights who intruded, right?"

Leandor was slightly on edge due to the sight of Xalender, who was still beside Akun, making him feel a bit intimidated to speak. Mustering his courage, he managed a reply, "Well, yes, my liege, none of them survived our encounter."

Akun then replied, saying, "Could you lead us to where you clashed with them, or rather, massacred them?" Akun asked while he folded his arms.

Leandor then replied, "Y-yes, I can." He then walked ahead, with Akun and Xalender following behind him.

Akun then turned to Xalender as he said, "We’ll follow him to the place the fight took place. I’m sure if you get a good look at some of their bodies, you’ll have an idea of what you are supposed to look for."

Xalender simply nodded.

Inwardly, Leandor mused while casting glances behind him that held both curiosity and fear, "What is the relationship between my liege and the god of death? It can’t be that of a worshiper and the worshipped because the tone my liege used to talk to him was rather... Commanding.

Yet, the god of death doesn’t seem angered that a mortal would talk to him in such a manner; rather, he seems like he is trying to avoid getting on my liege’s bad side."

Redirecting his gaze back ahead of himself, Leandor’s brows frowned as he mused further, "Did my liege somehow put the god of death under him? Impossible, gods bow to no one. But the scene behind me begs to differ. The god of death is not even resisting; he just obeys? Is it a contract of some sort? No...

A god would never sign such a thing that would put them at the beck and call of a mortal without a huge cost. So, all I can say with what I’ve seen is that my liege has somehow forced the god of death to listen to his orders somehow. A turly amazing feat indeed, as espected of my liege."

With Leandor leading the way, they walked for a little while before finally arriving at the area where the magic knights met their bloody end. There was blood and body entrails all over the place, painting the trees and leaves in red, and a foul smell of decay filled the air.

Akun couldn’t help but pinch his nose, he gazed at how seriously damaged all of the bodies were, there was no way anyone could recognize these knights using their faces. Prompting Akun to make an attempt towards fixing their bodies. To that end, he said, "Guess we’ve found the place. But all of the bodies here are basically unrecognizable."

Akun then added, "Xalender, Leandor, step back. I’ll rewind time in the area, and the bodies will automatically return to the way they were."

Akun’s statement about rewinding time caught Xalender’s attention, and he became curious, prompting him to ask, "Rewinding time? Isn’t that the authority of the god Chrono Nexus? Did you also enslave him?"

Xalender mentioning enslavement caught Leandor’s ears, prompting him to muse, "Enslave him also? Is the god of death insinuating that he is currently enslaved to my liege?" Leandor’s eyes widened with confusion and disbelief as he mused further, "But... How does a mortal enslave a god?

Is it even possible?" Leandor then smiled a bit as he mused further, "Guess there are no limits to my liege’s power."

Akun then replied, "Yes, but ’He’ is actually a woman, so a she. Keep that in mind." Your next chapter is on Freewebnovel

Xalender, supposedly certain but confused, added, "Impossible. Ever since the creation of this world, they have always been a man. How did they suddenly become a woman?"

Akun then replied with a cold tone, narrowing his gaze while folding his arms, "Xalender, do you doubt me?" He asked, wanting to confirm if Xalender was fully aware what could happen if he continued such behavior.

Xalender hesitated for a moment before he replied, "I do, my liege, but I ask that you enlighten me, prove to this humble servant of yours that the truth is as you say."

Ahead of them, Leandor could overhear the daring statements of Xalender, deciding to turn his gaze to observe the scene.

Inwardly, he mused, "So the god of death has indeed admitted it himself, that he is a slave to my liege, yet he dares to speak disrespectfully towards him." Leandor couldn’t help but smile a little as he pondered further, "Is it possible I am about to witness how a god will be punished by a mortal?

I can’t help but brim with anticipation and curiosity." He clenched his hands as he gazed intensely, but what happened next slightly disappointed him, yet it also served to further make Akun an even more respected being before his eyes.

Akun let out a sigh before speaking with a serious tone. "Normally, such rebellious behavior would warrant serious punishment, but I also want to show off and enlighten you, so I’ll let it slide."

Although Xalender didn’t say it, he felt a huge wave of relief wash over him. He was expecting to be stomped on again, like that time back in the ant city during the crimson bloom. However, he was far too curious and wanted to take a gamble.

Upon hearing Akun’s statement, Leandor couldn’t help but muse, a bead of sweat forming on the edge of his forehead. "Show off? Is my liege saying he has indeed enslaved another god?" His eyes widened with curiosity and shock as he gazed at the unfolding scene intensely.

Inwardly, Xalender mused, wondering, "If what the master said is true—that he has indeed enslaved another god. I can’t help but think a time will come when he will ascend to the position of some sort of god king. I doubt the †Rulers† would simply sit back and watch him do such a thing. For the first time in the eons of my existence, I can’t help but tingle with anticipation.

How will the second mortal I have chosen to acknowledge surprise me with his feats?"

Akun then spoke with a bone-chilling voice, commanding, "Come forth, Chrono Nexus." His voice seemed to echo through the very fabric of reality.

Suddenly, another set of cracks appeared directly in front of Akun. As they burst open, Chrono Nexus emerged, landing to give a huge hug to Akun. With blushed cheeks and a sweet voice, she spoke, "You called me master, and it’s not even time yet." She rubbed her cheeks on Akun’s chest and redirected her gaze at him, asking, "So, why did you call for me, master? What is the occasion?"

Suddenly, the clanging of a weapon falling to the ground could be heard. Akun, Chrono Nexus, and Leandor directed their gazes to the source. It was Xalender’s scythe; he had dropped it, a sign of how shocked he was by the scene unfolding before him.

Xalender’s jaw dropped as he gazed at Chrono Nexus with confusion and curiosity. He then proceeded to ask, lifting up one of his bony fingers as he pointed at Chrono Nexus, "Who are you?"

Chrono Nexus’ demeanor completely changed as she replied, "Oh, it’s you, Xalender." She let out a sigh and added, "Thought you’d be here after I noticed you disappeared from the underworld."

Xalender then regained control of himself, erasing his earlier confused demeanor as he proceeded to ask, "That was not my question. I asked, who are you? You look like Chrono Nexus from all of the Dia census, but all your traits have become female... Are you his daughter?"

Chrono Nexus wore a visible look of irritation in her eyes as she spoke with a nonchalant tone, "Obviously, I changed my appearance with cosmic energy."

Xalender replied, his tone filled with disbelief, "Impossible. An Origin god can’t change their appearance; it has never happened and won’t suddenly start now."

Just as Chrono Nexus was about to give Xalender another reply, Akun cut in on their conversation with a very serious yet calm tone, "That is enough. I didn’t call both of you here so that you can have a pointless argument."

Akun’s sudden change in tone completely caught Xalender and Chrono Nexus off guard. For a moment, they both felt a hint of fear as they both proceeded to remain silent, not wanting to anger him further.

Leandor, watching from a safe distance away, couldn’t help but muse, "My liege is truly amazing." A cold sweat streamed down his lion features as he pondered further, "To be able to enslave two gods, and have them be this obedient to him. He is truly on another plane of existence, a man who even has gods beneath his foot. Such a being would go down in legend."

With Chrono Nexus and Xalender’s silence, Akun then added, "I am here to revive the fallen soldiers that Leandor encountered last night so they can tell us what were the motives of their actions. So let’s get back to it."

Upon hearing that, Chrono Nexus then smiled and said, "If that is all you wanted to know, master, you should have simply called for me in the first place." She stopped hugging Akun and stood on her own, folding her hands behind her back.
