Chapter 2493  A Potential Battle Master

It appeared that Silvermist and the rest had no idea that something had happened to Alex. They weren't notified of the incident and were only surprised when Alex told them about it all.

They had come back a while ago and had been waiting for Alex's return. They were never worried about something happening to him at all.

Alex couldn't imagine why the Alchemy God never told his master. The only explanation he could think of was the fact that it was because he wasn't harmed.

Alex relayed the incident to everyone, describing the situation. He obviously kept a lot of it to himself as he didn't want his master to worry a lot. Not to mention, he didn't want to tell them the fact that he had been nearly taken over by someone else.

That would open a whole host of other questions, including a possible dive into his Spiritual Sea to see how he was doing.

"You're never leaving my sight again," Silvermist said. "That man must've been jealous that you made it into the final. There will be many others like him. For the next week, until the tournament begins, you will stay here and go nowhere else."

Alex nodded. "I plan on doing just the same, master."

Only then was Silvermist satisfied.

Alex changed the topic quickly, and the mood in the courtyard changed. He brought out the Battle Mimicry sphere, showing them all what the War God had gifted him.

Grimsight's eye widened upon seeing it. "That's one of the replicas, isn't it?" he asked. "I heard it needed many artifact masters to create a single one of these replicas."

"Oh?" Alex said, looking at the sphere.

"They say there are millions of Qi lines within this sphere, all put together to make the game within it function," Grimsight continued. "Truly a masterpiece."

"And yet it's still a replica?" Silvermist asked.

"The real thing is much bigger, the size of a room. It belonged to the Hell Emperor from what I know, but I can't be sure where it is now."

"If it's the Hell Emperor's, then the War God should still have it, right?" Alex asked. "He is his disciple."

"There's also the Array God, but yes, it's likely the War God still has it. Assuming it was never handed over to the Sky God."

"Why would it be given to the Sky God?" Alex asked.

"It's… a thing. Don't worry about it," Grimsight said.

"Alright," Silvermist said. "If several artifact masters needed to make a single replica, then who made the real thing, the Artifact God?"

"I'm not sure," Grimsight said. "But if rumors are to be trusted, it was the Sage of Ten Thousand Treasures."

"Oh! That would make sense," Silvermist said.

Alex was surprised to hear that. 'Godkiller made the original?' he thought as he looked down at the replica in his hands. How great was the original one then?

"Should we try it?" Silvermist asked. "I want to see how it works."

Alex wore one of the headbands and gave Silvermist the other one.

The headbands were of two types. One was a simple one that only let one play the game. The other one let them set up the game as well. Alex wore that one and tried to learn how he could use it.

To his surprise, there was nothing for him to learn, as all knowledge he needed to use it was fed into his mind immediately.

It made using the sphere no issue right from the get-go.

Alex took a few minutes to explain to his master how to control the people within the game, and after it was all done, they began fighting.

Alex defeated his master in the first game, so they played again. He won again. Then they increased the difficulty and tried again. Alex won again.

They continued fighting, and Alex continued winning.

Silvermist, unsurprisingly, made for a very bad general. His lack of restraint as well as patience made him overstep at each step, leading to an easy victory for Alex.

Silvermist angrily took off his headband, cursing at the thing, before handing it over to another to try.

Grimsight tried next and did much better. Alex won the first few rounds, but Grimsight began winning the other ones. As a result, Alex had to improve as well, and he did.

Grimsight played about a dozen games before giving the controls to Pearl. Alex played against Pearl for a while, winning all of the games and was soon bored. He gave his headband to Momo and had her play.

Momo lost easily, but as time went on, she improved too. In 10 battles, she won a single one against Pearl. But the one she did win made her happier than anyone else.

Pearl handed over his headband to Whisker, so finally, Whisker had the chance to test.

Against Momo, he lost the first match. He was still getting the hang of things, so Momo, who had played for 10 games in a row, was much better than him.

But after that single game, Whisker understood it now. He knew what he needed to do.

As someone who had been in actual wars, controlling ten thousand different fighters at once, Whisker was much better at the game than Momo could ever hope to be.

So, since then, she lost one game after another with no hope of ever getting close to beating Whisker. She improved every game, but so did Whisker. And from the looks of it, Whisker improved even more than her.

Momo gave up after a while, letting Pearl try again. Pearl had no chance of winning against Whisker either. Just the fact that Whisker was an Alchemist made his control of many things at once much better than Pearl's.

By this point, both Grimsight and Silvermist were surprised by Whisker's potential as a battle master. They had never thought much of Alex's other bonded beast. Unlike Pearl, he was a nobody in their eyes.

Silvermist did know Whisker was good at Alchemy, but that meant nothing to him at all since he hadn't seen Whisker make any pill himself. The only thing of note about Whisker was the fact that he was a Seeking Mouse with a cultivation base.

They had simply chalked it up to some sort of mutation leading up to him. He was an anomaly, sure, but a boring one in their eyes.

However, Whisker was surprising them now. Maybe they had underestimated him a lot.

After Pearl, Grimsight tried his hand at the match.

Unlike the others, he was a much tougher opponent for Whisker. For the first time since the first match, Whisker lost. The cultivation base difference alone made Grimsight a tougher opponent.

However, Whisker continued learning from the games. They played a second time, and while Grimsight won again, his victory was far too close for him to be comfortable with it.

Then they played once more, and Whisker won. In the next seven games, Whisker won six more times. In the end, Grimsight gave up, handing over the headband to Alex again.

Alex wore it and sat before Whisker with the sphere in the center between them.

The sphere expanded to form a new world with soldiers for them to control, and the game began anew.
