Chapter 168 You give friendship a bad name Part 2

Chapter 168 You give friendship a bad name Part 2

Once everyone but Uriel's group left the classroom the place was filled with a heavy atmosphere, it became so dense it could be cut with a knife. Everyone wanted answers but no one wanted to be the first one to speak. Read new adventures at My Virtual Library Empire

Uriel took a glance at his friends. Sam looked more mature even though it hadn't been that long since the last time they saw each other. However, when he saw Medusa he was suddenly reminded of the time she used her trait on him and sent him into despair for what seemed an eternity. He tried to ask her a question but the most instinctive fear kicked in preventing him from even looking her in the eye.

He was scared, traumatized even and remained frozen on the spot. Noticing Uriel's odd behavior, Sam took the chance and spoke first.

"Lots of things have changed since we came back from our incursion." Somehow, his soft voice managed to snap Uriel out of his reverie and he was finally able to speak normally as though a spell had been broken.

"No kidding! You have a girlfriend now, where is she by the way?" Uriel tried to lighten the mood, but it backfired.

"It's me, I'm his girlfriend." Medusa replied leaving everyone dumbfounded. Even the usually aloof Luna widened her eyes in shock.

"Congratulations, Miss Medusa." Nika said in a solemn tone of voice.

Uriel didn't know the reason why, but finding out that his friends were now together as a couple annoyed him, maybe even hurt him. He always knew that Medusa had a crush for him and thought he didn't care, but now he wasn't so sure anymore. Still, he tried to keep his act together to get answers from Nika.

"What's the deal with that? Why are you speaking to her so respectfully?" Uriel asked but Nika remained silent. It wasn't her place to explain anything related to Medusa and Uriel didn't pay her enough to risk getting into trouble with the Mapple corporation again. In fact, he didn't pay her at all.

"I just told you I'm not single anymore and you don't even care!?" Medusa was obviously hurt by Uriel's cold demeanor. More so, because she expected him to be sad or angry, instead he was just curious.

"Right, I think congratulations are in place, Winnie." Uriel sarcastically referred to her in the same way Walter called her.

"You! How dare you! Only grandpa can call me like that. I'm Winona Works, heir to the Mapple corporation and you will show me the respect I deserve." Medusa's attitude suddenly became overbearing and Uriel felt as though he was shrinking. He felt small and helpless, just like when she used her petrifying glare on him and he was left speechless.

Panicked, Uriel almost activated Water warlock's blessing, until a warm hand tightening on his own dragged him back to reality.

"Don't bully my boyfriend!" Luna scolded Medusa.

"Your what!?" Both Sam and Medusa said in unison. For a brief second they acted just like before, when they got along well and were a close knit group of friends. It could have seemed like things were heading in the right direction, but instead of smiles and laughter a sudden wave of flux energy erupted in the classroom as both Luna and Medusa were getting ready for a fight.

"Oh lord! I'm out of here." Nika said as she vanished into Uriel's shadow leaving only the ascended in the classroom. If she chose to back the cute Luna up, Medusa would be offended but she couldn't choose Medusa's side either because she lived with Luna.

"He's my boyfriend, he took me by the hand and..." Luna blushed heavily making everyone think something else might have happened.

"Stop making things worse, will you?" Uriel said as he bumped her head with his fist.

"Owie!" Luna yelped in pain and covered her head, though her face remain the same.

"Are you two really together?" Medusa asked after finally collecting herself.

"That's none of your business."

"Ok, stop guys, this is starting to get out of hand. I'll explain everything." Sam finally had enough hostility and decided to settle things by explaining the situation. "After we came back from the incursion, I was summoned by my father and, long story short, Medusa asked me out."

"It's not like that!" Medusa yelled at Sam.

"Really? Weren't you the one who begged me to become your boyfriend?" Sam replied with a cold tone of voice.

"Sam... I think you hit me too hard during our match. I think I heard that it was Medusa the one who asked you out, even though you've been pestering her for ages to date you without any success." Uriel shook his head in disbelief.

"I admit I had a big crush on her, but that was before I found out she came from 'that' family."

"I don't get it, why are you two together then?" The more Sam spoke, the more puzzled Uriel became.

"I'm Samael Song, son of Samuel Song. I already told you that my family's company was taken under by the Mapple corp. a long while ago, but now my family has an important position in the government and they arranged our marriage as both families can benefit from the merge.

The song family will get the resources we lack and the Works family the influence they need." Although Sam successfully summarized the situation, Medusa felt the need to explain things further.

"As soon as I learned about the arrange marriage I ran away from home and changed my style. The first thing I did after that was to join this college so I could acquire a trait that changed my appearance.

At first I wasn't so sure if I could actually pull something like that because my family has a lot of resources, but when the zeppelin came here looking for me and no one recognized me I knew I was safe. Everything was going great, I had friends, I was able to pursuit any career I wanted and my life couldn't have been any better, but then...

I had to go back to my family in order to save your life and now I have to pretend I'm in a relationship with Sam." Medusa said and tears started rolling down her cheeks.
