Chapter 279 Emilia's Feelings, Mira and Zara Confrontation.

The evening sun painted the Obsidian estate in warm hues as Emilia stepped out of the car after they entered the grand gates, her suitcase being rolled by the maids behind her.

They took a different path from her, taking her suitcases and necessities into the estate where her room was already waiting.

She'd spent the last few days reluctantly packing after Emberly's insistence that she move into the estate. Though reluctant at first, Emilia had finally conceded, knowing there was no winning against Emberly's resolve.

Emberly the same reason why she was reluctant in both her relationship with Pyris and even fully moving in despite Pyris' instance—Emberly herself had asked Emilia come move in fully into the estate.

"I hope miss one day would still see me the same way after knowing my love for her son!"

Although it was known for Emberly to embrace Pyris's decision and relationships, Emilia was still recoiling in fear. Unlike his other women, Emilia before becoming his assistant back then, she was Emberly's most trusted assistant and student.

She had found and taught Emilia everything the latter knew from the very young age of 16 until now recently when she became Pyris' assistant before later when he gave her a company to run, The Obsidian Ent.

The reasons why she was reluctant was because of her background and everything she stood for in Emberly's eyes. To her, there was no way the Obsidian Mistress would let Emilia—someone she just too in and became her student, a nobody by birth rights—be in a relationship with her son—her everything.

Pyris meant everything to Emberly, call it obsession if you may.

As she walked in, the atmosphere in the living room was tense. Emilia immediately noticed the unfamiliar face of Nysa sitting elegantly on a couch, her presence commanding attention. Beside her was Zara, her sharp eyes scanning the room with an air of indifference.

The presence of Zara surprised Emilia as it had surprised Emberly previously, "How did Pyris convince the arrogant witch to follow him around?" They wondered.

Although Zara wasn't popular in Argos, she was popular among the circles of High Nobles and Royalties.

To Emilia's surprise, everyone else looked worried, and Emberly's slight frown only heightened Emilia's unease.

"Miss," Emilia greeted Emberly, bowing slightly out of respect. Emberly offered her a soft smile and a nod in return, but the concern in her eyes remained.

Emilia moved further into the room, offering a polite nod to the others before settling into a seat next to Aurelia.

Her gaze shifted to Alera, who looked both weary and resolute, her usual poise shaken. Emilia's heart skipped a beat as realization dawned. Alera's presence could only mean one thing...

"Is Pyris back?" she asked hesitantly with anticipation, warmth swelling in her chest, her voice breaking the silence.

The room tensed further, and Emberly explained the situation, recounting Pyris' battle with the guardian and his current state of unconsciousness.

Emilia listened intently, her expression morphing into a mix of worry and determination.

When the conversation turned to Nysa, they welcomed her again, this time with more warmth and sincerity. The tension in the room eased slightly as Nysa offered a small smile in return, her usually guarded demeanor softening.

But peace was fleeting.

As they settled into silence, Mira's sharp voice cut through the air, her gaze locked on Zara, it seemed like Mira couldn't take it anymore. "Why didn't you do anything while Pyris faced the guardian?"

Everyone turned to look at Mira, whose accusatory tone bristled with anger. Zara, unfazed, leaned back into her seat, her lips curling into a smirk.

Mira continued, her tone growing sharper. "If you'd fought the guardian, Pyris wouldn't be unconscious. He wouldn't have risked his life. You're powerful, aren't you? You could've ended it sooner."

The room grew heavier with each word, and while the others shared Mira's concerns, none of them held Zara responsible. Alera, however, looked like she had something to say.

Zara barked back, her voice sharp and unyielding. "Excuse me! I'm tired of this blame game. Since we came out of the labyrinth, you've been acting like it's my fault! I'm not his babysitter, alright?"

Mira's eyes narrowed. "Then what was your role? Why did you even go with him? Was it for sightseeing?" Her voice dripped with disdain.

"All you had to do was step in when things went south or when he was faced with a hopeless enemy. That was the deal, wasn't it? When he faced a powerful enemy he couldn't win against, you were supposed to act."

"Couldn't win my ass!" Zara shot back, standing up now. "Ask Alera! Ask her if Pyris would've let me fight the guardian!"

All eyes turned to Alera, who sighed deeply before nodding. "Pyris wouldn't have let Zara fight. He always wants to challenge himself—not for pride or to show off, but to find where he needs to improve... You know that about him," Alera explained looking at Emberly, Aurelia in particular as they knew how Pyris was like.

Her words resonated with everyone, who nodded in agreement, knowing Pyris' stubborn determination all too well. Mira, however, wasn't convinced. She bit her lip, her mind replaying an old memory.

"Mira, I don't need a protector. I want a partner—someone I can trust with my back, someone I can fight side by side with. I don't want to live under your protection forever. How will I grow? How will I become the man who can liberate you and your race?"

His words echoed in her mind, and Mira's frustration simmered down, though her heart still ached. She knew Pyris wouldn't change, but that didn't make seeing him hurt any easier.

"Seems like you don't even know your own boyfriend," Zara scoffed, her smirk returning.

"H-He's not my boyfriend!" Mira stammered, her face turning crimson. But she straightened her back, her voice growing firm. "He's my Young Lord."

Emberly chuckled, "The Loli Goddess's going to roast me alive. Look at what my Pyris had done to the Phantom Venerable!" She muttered inside her mind.

"Whatever," Zara muttered, waving her hand dismissively. "I don't care."

The tension in the room simmered but didn't dissipate entirely, leaving everyone with a heavy sense of unease.

But things were far from over.
