Chapter 1815 Always Goes to the South
People thought that he might be childish or petty or could not see the bigger picture here. In his mind, it should be the best course of action at this point to cancel his mission. The cooperation built on doubt would never work, and most likely went south quickly.
The more they doubted him, he also became paranoid and kept doubting the Hurakan Kingdom. From his perspective, it was so weird for them to be suspicious of him constantly. That made him feel like they schemed something behind him, and he was getting even more convinced there was something playing behind that even the Imperial Investigator who he just met acting like this.
If the Imperial Investigator stated that this was a formality, just for a report, and he needed to answer all the questions to confirm the truth, he did not mind playing along. However, they did not say anything from the start and started to act like they tried to intimidate him.
They treated him like a suspect even though he risked his life here, fighting with them against the Void Creatures. Just the thought made him angry, and if this continued, he might do something that he could not mend. Then, it would be better to cancel the mission. As Avyn said, his plate was full, and he did not want to add one more to the Hurakan Kingdom.
"You can run back to your Administrator Space, but after you answer all the quests—" The Imperial Investigator to Tang Shaoyang's right, the same one who spoke earlier, responding to Tang Shaoyang. However, his words remained unfinished as the leader of the Imperial Investigator raised his voice.
"Shut up, Mein!" The leader of the Imperial Investigator's aura flared as he raised his voice for the first time. He looked straight to his subordinate who currently lowered his head. "You are not helping, at all. You better leave this room."
Under the sharp gaze of the leading Imperial Investigator, the person named Mein left the room. However, he had his eyes on Tang Shaoyang all the time. There was hatred behind the gaze.
Tang Shaoyang was flabbergasted because this was the first time they met, and the man already hated him for some reason. He never heard of the Hurakan Legion until he heard about the mission and the void gate. That meant he never had a conflict with the Hurakan Kingdom before, and so he was confused as to why the man hated him.
"I think it's really better for me and my team to leave this place. I don't want to constantly worry about my back while I am fighting the Void Creature. There's also an alliance army later, and without a doubt will trigger another conflict." He spoke once more after the Imperial Investigator left the room.
"But the Hurakan Legion needs you to be here. Commander Edson asks me to treat you with care because he doesn't want you to leave." The leading investigator responded.
"I don't see that I get treated with care as I am getting treated as a suspect instead, and I don't feel like fighting for the people who keep doubting me all the time. As I said, my patience is running out, and I might really do something we don't want to do if this continues. If you are worried about me being a spy or part of the Void Cult, sending me back to the Administrator Space is the safest choice because I will no longer cooperate with you just to be treated like a criminal."
Tang Shaoyang was convinced that canceling the mission was the best choice here. He saw the hatred in the Imperial Investigator's eyes on him. For someone in the man's position, as an Imperial Investigator, the man should have a good background and a lot of people on his side. He did not know when this man would use those people against him which would later endanger his team.
He was not alone, he had his team, and they would be in danger if they stayed here longer. It would be a pity because they could not get the full reward, but their lives were the priority. What was the point of the reward if they were gone?
Imperial Investigator Tavsen was in a pickle situation. He had the skill to detect lies, and he also had the skill to sense emotion. The administrator in front of him had not lied yet so far, and he could feel the rising anger within the man. He was well aware it was not an empty threat, everything the administrator said was not an empty threat.
Commander Edson had told him how powerful the administrator was even though he was just a Senior Administrator. Edson told him it was unnecessary to interview the Senior Administrator as the commander was afraid that something wrong would happen during the interview.
The commander requested to treat the Senior Administrator with care because this man would be a big help to them when they fought the army of the Void Creatures. Tavsen did not doubt Commander Edson, he trusted everything said, but he also had his own job.
At first, he did not understand why the commander was afraid that something wrong happened during the interview. It sounded like the commander doubted his ability, but he understood now why. Just like them who were suspicious of the administrator, the administrator also had his guard up and was also suspicious of them. Instead of looking at the solution in the middle, the administrator's solution was extreme. It would resolve the situation, but it did not help the situation, at all. If the administrator left, who would fill the empty spot they left behind.
'I am an investigator, not a negotiator. Damn, Mein!' Tavsen complained to himself.
"I am sorry if you feel like you are being treated like a criminal, Senior Administrator Tang Shaoyang. I also apologize for my subordinate's behavior. We don't mean it, and it's supposed to be a formality because Commander Edson has vouched for you. We just need your testimony for the report, and then we will conclude the investigation. However, as an investigator, I can't say all those things before the interview. We have our own procedure, and as an investigator, we have to be suspicious of everyone, not just you, but also Commander Edson. I hope you can understand my position."
"I wish for you and your team to stay and continue helping The Hurakan Legion. We need every manpower we have right now because we don't have enough reinforcement. We can't immediately pull out force from the God Dimensional Tower yet for reinforcement."
Tang Shaoyang furrowed his brow and his Absolute Sense told him that the man did not lie. However, the man named Mein's hatred toward him that bothered him. He was not afraid of their scheme, but it was different for his team. He had Seven Souls, and his team did not have.
"What about your men who left? Do you think he will leave me alone? I don't think so," Tang Shaoyang shook his head. "With such deep hatred, he will not stop here."
"Don't worry about Mein, Senior Administrator Tang Shaoyang. We will monitor him, and we will make sure that nothing will happen…" Tavsen paused as he noticed that the administrator did not focus on him. From the eye and head movement, he could tell that the administrator was opening a message.
He guessed it right, and his eyes widened in shock because the administrator's aura burst out in rage. The calm mask on the administrator's face turned into a burning fury. What shocked him, the administrator did not hesitate to use the bloodline transformation. The dragon aura from the man got thicker and terrifying.
Tang Shaoyang's figure burst out from the building, destroying the roof. Imperial Tavsen looked at his remaining subordinate and said. "Follow him!" He flew, following the trail, and he did not know why, but he had a bad premonition about this. His rational thinking was to stop Tang Shaoyang, but he was afraid it would lead to a bigger conflict. That was why he tried to follow the administrator first and find out what caused this.
Tang Shaoyang flew at full speed, heading toward his lodging. He arrived a few seconds later and their house was blown up. The Hurakan Legion's soldiers were surrounding his team members. Khaya, Anne, and the snow elves were fighting the Imperial Investigator Mein, and the soldiers helped him.
Tang Shaoyang then noticed a figure, getting impaled to the ground with a spear on his chest. He dove to the ground and landed next to the figure. Castor had his heart pierced with the spear, and his eyes widened in shock as if he did not expect that he would get attacked. It meant someone attacked Castor in surprise.
Tang Shaoyang took out his highest-grade healing potion and poured the red liquid into his mouth as he pulled the spear. The wound on the chest was healing, but Castor was no longer breathing. He tried to pour the second healing potion, but Ira stopped him. "It's useless. Castor's dead."
